The 200 year old docks area has been repurposed with the long damaging decline in trade by ship, decline in heavy industry and worst still decline in manufacturing. Look at Germany a powerful powerhouse of manufacturing (unlike the UK, German politicians subsidied some industry which proved smart ) that makes it hugely rich. The UK direction by opportunist greedy political types with no vision, interest or long term planning for 50/75 years let manufacturers go to the wall. This has created a very large service sector that relies heavily on low paid staff that does not produce tangible sellable goods. So the historic industrial port began to lose trade as the ships became larger and couldn't access canals and small docks. Today, it's a fairly large and an impressive shopping and food outlet (service industry) with pubs, wine bars, all the usual suspects trading but the sympathetic design making it stunning. Worth a visit if you are close by and a 15 minute walk from the awesome Gloucester Cathedral that King Henry VIII stole from Catholicism.

Also some pubs and little independent shops. Not a spectacular day out, but pretty interesting. You can take boat trips or just look at the different boats moored. Parking is really easy there are usually plenty of spaces.

It is a bit pricy, but sometimes it's worth paying more for quality cotton sheets are always better in my eyes. They do tend to have special offers on though so keep your eyes open for bargains and they also sell seconds. Upstairs they sell material on rolls so if recovering furniture or making your own curtains is your thing then you'll be quite happy. Ample parking clean toilets and a nice little coffee shop. Good all rounder

Primark is a store I come to for discount clothing, nice selection, large space to shop around…read morewithout being bothered. Staff attitudes are ok, but I do like that I can find a top or t- shirt if I'm in need of one. I don't recommend buying shoes here as they're a bit on the cheap side. Other than that, ok store.

They sell clothes for all the family and it's always possible to pick up a bargain or three. There are a few question marks over the quality of Primark clothing, but if you don't mind buying something that won't necessarily last forever - eg holiday clothing - then this is the place for you.

(cribbs…read morecauseway) The mall has a small food court which is fairly clean although they are quite limited in what they serve (chips and something) Not bad coffee, but you can get the same in the woolworths cafe and for a bit cheaper. Easy access to all shops and it has the usual Disabled Facilities although I really think they should have a full time attendent in at least the ladies. The ownly downside is the parking. Make sure you take plenty of change as the car park is run by ncp and the prices are dear. You will also find your car changes colour to a dirty grey/white due to our resident seagulls.

For everyday shopping then the Mall is great. You can park up on the top (pay on exit so remember…read moreto have money on you) and take the lift down. The Mall is on 2 levels and is home to a variety of shops including the inside market, there is a food court where you can get hot or cold food and toilet facilities which can be busy at times but are always clean and tidy. They sometimes have various activities going on throughout the year and hold a lovely grotto at christmas time. There are various exits from the Mall which will lead you onto certain areas of the Cross enabling you to further explore Gloucester.

Embarrassingly, it actually took two years before I realised that this store is split into two…read moredifferent stores, one about three minutes down the road from the other. I didn't find this very obvious and had wondered why the food & womenswear store didn't seem to stock anything else! The menswear and childrenswear is kept somewhere different altogether. The stores are a good size and well maintained, and the staff are polite. The food department could be a little bigger - they don't have an instore bakery - but I otherwise have no complaints.
