I am very disappointed with this company given the good reviews it has. I am a college student that had hired Suddath to move my things out of my dorm in July given that I could not return to campus to pack away my own things. In my original contract given they had charged me $120 to move my things back to campus and had promised that my stuff would arrive before I arrived on campus. Fast forward to a week before moving onto campus I was charged an additional $50 to move my things onto campus AND my stuff did not arrive until A WEEK after I had arrived on campus. Because of this, I was sleeping in a friend's sleeping bag for a week wearing the same four outfits I had packed in my bag on my trip back to school. Later I find out that multiple other students on campus were not charged AT ALL to have their things moved back to campus and they received their things the day they arrived to campus. Once receiving my items I was also upset by the fact that they had broken many of my storage containers, scratched my fridge, and had gone through undergarments that I had packed and tied shut before leaving campus for spring break. To top this off they packed SOMEONE ELSE'S PILLOWS in my boxes and after 2 emails, no one has told me what to do with them. I lived in a single last year so I have NO IDEA who's pillows these belong to. Also, communication was TERRIBLE. As noted above it took me multiple emails to get ahold of them about my damages and what to do with the pillows. They sent me a link to go through for damages and have still not addressed me on what to do with these pillows. Leading up to move-in, I had sent countless emails and called multiple times before someone could give me any information on my belongings. Which only resulted in them saying I owed them more money that was not stated on my original proposal. When speaking on the phone with my customer service attendant they were friendly and nice-- however, there are many things that need to be worked on before I would recommend ANYONE to this company. I can also say that many of my friends had the same problems with this company, if not worse (ie. stuff came back moldy, things were stolen, etc). read more

Rotten experience. I moved with them almost 3 years ago, and it still bothers me so much, I decided to find them and leave a review. Everything started out fine: they came and gave a fair estimate, and then on moving day, they were on time, packed my belongings well. I was living in a 3rd floor walkup rental apartment, and during the move, the movers slammed a dolly up and down the stairs, busted out the window crosspieces, and laughed about it. I ended up paying a huge portion of my deposit to pay for the damage from the movers. As part of the intake, the movers rushed through a list of "valuables." I didn't have anything especially valuable, so I didn't declare anything as special. But I had just bought a printer and fax machine, and they were in the original boxes, and I saw them go on the van. On the other end, they were almost 2 weeks late. When they finally arrived, they complained during the unloading. And the printer and fax machine were inexplicably gone. The manifest sheet was all jumbled, and there was no way to follow if everything was delivered, and the movers just mumbled to call the office when about 10 boxes on the manifest could not be identified in my things. After I unpacked everything, I called to explain that some things appeared to have been missing. The only things I could clearly identify as missing were the printer and fax. The company, instead of apologizing for MISSING items, sent me a check for less than $3, based on weight-based damage. I didn't even cash it, it was so ridiculous. When I signed up for the insurance, I was thinking about damage, not full-out theft. In the end, the electronics was probably worth $200 or so, not the end of the world. But I was more offended by the idea that a moving company would steal your things. If I saw it go on the van, and it wasn't there when the things arrived, no one else could be responsible. And because it was only the things that were clearly marked as electronics, it was clearly deliberate. I left feeling almost violated, and definitely would not use this company again if anyone else was available. read more

Suddath acted as our local support for a United move. Deb arrived at our home and was immediately very gracious in the communication troubles we experienced earlier that day (my phone was not receiving calls or texts). She still arrived within twenty minutes of our original scheduled time. Thankfully she had the foresight to have other people continue to try to contact me, and they were able to get through to me. (Sorry again Deb). Deb took 10 minutes just to make small talk and I was immediately at ease. Her countenance gave me the peace of mind that she was fully capable at what she was set out to do, and she was no longer a stranger intruding in our home, but a qualified professional here to help me with an overwhelming task. She was very thorough in her walk through and very quick in making her notes which kept things moving quickly. At no time during her visit did i feel she was forgetting or not seeing something that was important. With poor planning on my part, I forgot to organize a second location (my father's woodshop) to be surveyed. Thankfully my wife mentioned it and asked if I had set it all up to have a walk through... With a minute of planning and making sure I had keys to my dad's house, Deb happily offerred to take a look at the second location (a few miles away) immediately. She then put up with my putting my dad on speaker phone and verbally explaining what was in his woodshop that was being moved, and what was staying... (No one likes me trying to relay information as the middleman!) Thank you Deb for your tremendous service and expertise in which you surveyed our house (and Dad's shop!)... I hired Suddath movers to pack up my condo for my move. The main packer was in his twenties and didn't seem to know what he was doing. So my furniture, etc. arrived yesterday. To my dismay a special art piece I have had almost 50 years from the artist. Shattered beyond repair. He didn't even bother to wrap it. My daughter cried. Also broken was a glass pedestal bowl. Much to my surprise when everything was unpacked my kitchen pots/pans, etc. we're not here! Who doesn't pack up a kitchen? So now I have to hire someone to pack and pay UPS to ship. We knew we were in trouble when we heard "uh-oh" and "get the camera" from the crew delivering our furniture. The furniture had been wrapped in one layer of brown paper (no quilts, no padding) and placed in crates. Many pieces of furniture had some parts (legs, etc) that were not wrapped at all.The crates were not full, and the things in them had obviously shifted around a lot. One crate was broken. Everything from dining room furniture to an oil painting was gouged and scratched, and there is a strange mold on some items. Many items had sentimental value - the oil painting has been in the family for three generations. Filing a claim was time-consuming, because we had to estimate the date of purchase and cost to replace each item. Once the claim was filed, it took several phone calls and two weeks to have a Furniture Medic franchisee come out (apparently an adjuster was not available), then another set of phone calls and two weeks to be told that some of the damage would not be covered because the Suddath employees packing it had marked that it was damaged when they picked it up. It turns out that the "item numbers" the Suddath employee had referred to on the packing form were actually codes for "scratched," "gouged," "chipped," etc. and that most items, even brand new items, were coded as already damaged. Given the cost of the move, the damage caused and the time we've spent filing paperwork, following up to try to get an adjuster to come out and meeting with the Furniture Medic, we would have been better off putting everything out on the curb and buying new furniture at our destination. We can't recommend you hire Suddath to move your household, but if you do, take photos of each item BEFORE it leaves your home. Do not sign any forms without understanding what codes are embedded in their "item numbers." read more

We moved to Florida in 2018 and Suddath unloaded us and everything went well. I wrote a good review. Moving from Florida, we used them because we had a good experience. I would highly recommend NOT using this company to move you anywhere. It was just one thing after the next. Moving many times, we know there was no reason why we were treated so poorly by our moving coordinator and why our possession were not adequately moved (some breakage) and were NOT moved on time. In response your company Suddath Relocation/United Van Lines asked for an email from the hazmat company stating that it was safe to enter the house. The email was sent and your company verified that they received it. Despite this Suddath Relocation/United Van Lines still cancelled my move. The worst part was that they waited until the night before to cancel a cross country move! Never again! read more

This company was a tremendous disapointment. They delivered our merchandise one week late. We spent a lot of money for them to pack our art work and fragile items, and there was significant damage. Their "expert packers" packed 2 pictures side-by-side, so several frames were damaged from rubbing against one another. Furthermore, their re-imbursement of the damage was inadequate. I had an excellent experience with Suddath. They were the local agent for my Mayflower move and coordinated with my agent in California (Chipman Relocations.) My move was from Florida to San Francisco and everything arrived in perfect condition and on time. Not ONE item was scratched or broken, which is amazing for a move that is literally clear across the country. My packer (Tony) took extra care and listened when I pointed out sentimental items and took extra measures to make sure they were packed with care. He was respectful and hard working. The gentleman that helped my driver load my truck was the same - very hard working and courteous. He took excellent care as well and they didn't even brush a wall with furniture. We worked with Suddath on the receiving end of our military PCS move. Starting with scheduling our delivery day Linda was polite and helpful with getting us our desired 1 SEPT delivery day. I checked in two days before with the looming tropical storm Hermine (which later became a hurricane) heading at Tampa. She was calm and told me that they have to deal with rain all the time and had plenty of supplies and methods to keep things on schedule. The next day she (Linda) was still calm despite much of the areas around their warehouse and most likely some of their homes being threatened by the heavy rains. We did not get the 1 September delivery because of the heavy rains. Linda was giving us updates on their evaluation of weather and ability to deliver all the way into the evening. Linda you are awesome. Despite all of the challenges with the weather and flooding in Clearwater they still delivered on the 2nd which was a long weekend we didn't have to sit around doing nothing. The move in team of 4 guys showed up on time and made friendly introductions. I was very happy to see the cautions they took by putting the crates inside of a semi trailer instead of flat bed to keep things dry. Mike M and his crew leader Josh did a phenomenal job moving all of the 15,000 lbs into a 2 story house. While waiting for the second truck load they helped us unpack by just going behind us and I king up paper and breaking down boxes. As far as Suddath Relocation Systems - Clearwater/St. Pete/Tampa --Finally someone called out these jerks. Thanks Cory B for being honest - not just an employee giving a review which they are known to do. They take your money and blow you off. Talked to T. Estep a couple of times - what a joke - he couldn't remember even talking to me - REALLY?? I just had similar experience as you: lots of damaged items, lost items, etc. Had I moved on corporate relocation - (which I will always use in the future) instead of on my own for this move I am sure the experience would have been much different as I have had several corporate relocations and NONE were as bad as this one, not even a box of toilet paper misplaced! I am not going to go away which is what they want you to do. Instead I will use all of my social media, Angie's List, and the Better Business Bureau to vent and I will make it my mission to notify corporate relocation that they might think twice about using this outfit for any employees going forward.
