We used to roll into Winstead's on the Plaza about weekly if for no other reason to make the "we are nearly/actually adult drivers and consumers" scene. So Sonic Drive-Ins saw ppl like me coming. The first Sonic I visited was 3-4 decades ago in Warrensburg and I loved the retro feel and lively service. Here, the ambiance was closer to a solid 3.5, with many touches suggesting a bygone era, but overall cleanliness and look a bit off the mark. What I didn't like at all was the MENU, which seems seriously overpriced as well as lacking in real nutrition. I can't claim that it's not creative, however that doesn't ease my preference to pay substantially less for this type of fast food. The real plus here was Service: 5 stars! When staff sees guests in better than average cars (my impression only), I think they go the extra mile to make it nice. I certainly felt cared-for by the kind young man who served me. Using the push button order system felt awkward, however, and that's partly because I have some difficulty speaking. It was okay, no major issues. My only gripes were pricing for what seemed like an oddball (creative but rather limited, and not especially healthy) menu. I don't know if I'll return here. Since they don't set the prices, I don't want to blame this one place, but I feel there are better eating options for me, and Sonic in Richmond may simply be for a different target customer base.
