Their 'apewiches' are, hands down, the most flavorful sandwiches I have ever had in Germany (making me miss my favorite sandwich shop in the US). The 'salapes' are just as tasty and a really great value. You get to choose the combination of ingredients you'd like and can pretty much create a new salad every time you visit! I've been twice now and one of the owners, a guy from Texas, is just such a pleasure to be around. He's friendly and happy to provide recommendations. He got a little sassy when I compared BABC to Chipotle, but whattaya gonna do --- they're essentially exactly the same. Which, if you're an American living in Germany, is a much-needed break from all the heavy German food. It's a compliment! The first time I was here I got the special - a chicken and lime burrito - which was pretty good. Enough for two meals, which the owner happily helped me pack up to take home. My second time I got a more traditional burrito with all the fixin's which was super delicious. So basically what I'm saying is: I will continue to come here every time I'm in Cologne. And if you like burritos, you should too.

The ordering station, the names of the food options, it was like Chipotle had been transplanted to Germany. I think the owner is American and he/she saw and opportunity and grabbed it. I was PUMPED because I love Mexican food and haven't had good Mexican in the last 5 months of living in Europe. I legit clapped with glee when I walked inside. I was that excited. I ordered a burrito bowl with brown rice, black beans, corn salsa, pico, barbacoa, sour cream, and cheese. Plus a side of tortilla chips. Pricey, but dang. So, so good. Worth it. Wish they would have channeled their Qdoba vibes by offering free guac, but I'll take good Mexican food when I can. I have heard from many people that the best Döner in Köln is Oruc so I wanted to see for myself. Judging by the 3 lines that went out the door and the utter chaos I believe I found the right place. Even though my standards were high they were met, the Döner sandwich was bigger, the pita was cooked perfect and with the zaziki and spicy sauce it was a perfect meal after celebrating Karnival all day. I would like to see what the sandwich would be like if it wasn't so chaotic and they could put some more TLC (Tender Loving Care) in it.
