I've used Suburban Sanitation for many years and have had nothing but a Wonderful experience. Our trash and recyclables are picked up at the same time every Wednesday. They have never missed a week like other trash/recycling companies in our neighborhood. We have a neighborhood Facebook page and there are several ppl asking if their trash/recycle company is going to show up. I'm happy to say that I have never had to inquire about trash pick up. The owner noticed our trash can needed to be replaced and personally replaced it this morning. WOW! Many of my neighbors use Suburban due to my recommendation and I'll continue to boast about their promptness and professionalism. read more

I have never dealt with such an unprofessional, ignorant business owner. They do not care about you as a customer. The owner is rude, justifies his ignorance and I'm certain is not formally trained in business. If you are looking for trash service run...run fast or take your trash to the dump yourself, burn it in your backyard, or break it down for compost. You do not want this company to service your trash, you'll want to smoke dealing with these unprofessional people. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I feel the need to inform you, if you're looking for service. Don't even consider it a thought, go with another company. read more

We live outside of the Charlotte City limits in Mecklenburg County, so have needed to contract with a private garbage pick up service. SUBURBAN SANITATION has been absolutely fantastic for the almost 12 years we've been using their service! look no further if you need reliable garbage pick up services outside of the Charlotte City limit! Employees are always friendly and they always make sure everything has been removed from our bins, and place the bins neatly on the side of our driveway so it's easy to bring them back in. And when we happen to be around when they do their pick-up, they're the first to say "Hello" - during Covid they never missed a pick-up! Huge thanks to all of you! Just a reminder of how horrible a service provider can be and how Suburban Sanitation treats its customers. They haven't changed and I can only hope one day enough people see them for who they really are and put them out of business. read more

8/21/18 update...If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This place is great. Forgot to roll my can out last night. The service man actually grabbed it from my back porch and dumped it. Love, love this company. I was googling to find the website and I saw the yelp reviews...had to stop and review. This has been my trash company for years. After finally being smart enough to seek a different company from the AW that dominates Charlotte at twice the price, I landed here. I am more than pleased with their service. I was looking for the website today because I was home when the guys stopped by to pick up my trash. It was more full than normal since it's after Christmas. I had boxes folded up, bags of wrapping paper and boxes along with the normal waste. I noticed the service man sorting the bags and only taking the normal waste. I thought oh no what did I do wrong. I don't pay for recycling and I don't have a recycle bin. Don't judge me. That's what I was going online to add :). I catch the service guy before he drives off and ask...what did I do wrong. "He said ma'am this is mostly recycle material. I sorted it and the recycle truck will come and get it later today." I told him I don't pay for recycle. He said don't worry we will come get it. He was just as pleasant as can be. I smiled, thanked him and wished him a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Now that's great service. I agree with the poster regarding patronizing small businesses. And after my research, recycling is free. I just need to call to get the bin. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. I truly believe any other bad reviews are miscommunication/misunderstandings that could be cleared up with a few questions. read more

Absolute circus. Trash guys deserve a better reputation than this. His employees are hard-working, hence the two-stars. They don't miss trash, they've been handed large work-loads and take care of it with ease. The guys running the truck do their job. Can't ask for much more. It's the way this business is run that's such a joke. For two years, every. single. quarter. I request that the fees be put on auto-pay. Every representative over the phone says they will take care of this, then two weeks after the payment is due, they call 2-3 times a week, sending you a bill for "due payments" via e-mail. No matter who I speak to you, the simple request they swear they can fulfill is not fulfilled. Whatever, that's your money you're missing and I just want to pay at the appropriate time. They've taken my trash can before, charged me a reinstatement fee, the whole nine-yards, over their own failed paperwork. They even changed their online billing system without proper notice, of course no auto-pay set up, and call me after the bill is due acting like they're doing me a favor by waiving the late fees. Whatever, I'll pay. Now they bombard me again this quarter to pay my bill. Anytime I access their website, it gives me MALWARE NOTICES, TROJAN VIRUS ALERTS, everything that says don't put payment information down. We paid our bill in the past via a bank account, not card. Their new billing site won't allow me to use a bank account, so I call to get it settled and transferred into someone else's name as I have left the residence... I end up talking to the owner, who did nothing but interrupt the entire time and ask me "what's not getting through my head," all the while acting like he knows my questions before letting me finish a damn sentence. By grace, he's saying he doesn't need me to pay that due bill, and that I can just cancel the service. I wanted to pay it and transfer it into someone else's contact info, so that they can continue to pick up our trash. He refuses to let this happen, and instead asks us to take all of the trash out of the bin so they can pick it up, just for us to reinstate with them later. I've advised my former roommates to look for another service. read more

I agree, 1 Star is far too generous. The self-proclaimed owner was the worst example of customer service I have ever seen. I called to see if they could come back and get my trash after it was missed and he called me a lair but that's not the worse part. He put me on speaker and talked about me then laughed with his employees. I told him I could still hear him and he said I know. The next week he went into my fully gated backyard and took the trash can. Then told me you don't have to worry about me going in your backyard again because you no longer have service with us. Hopefully they learn a lesson soon bc I had just let my two large breed dogs back in the house just before he got there. Neither of my dogs are friendly to strangers. That's his second blessing of the day. read more

A 5 Star review for a garbage co? Hear me out guys! I feel like this company has been a bit misrepresented with the reviews here. As a new home buyer, I really didn't know what to expect when setting up Garbage/Recycling. I called a couple of weeks ago on Monday (Labor Day) to set up service and spoke with Nathaniel who walked me through the service fees for garbage and recycling. The recycling is included in the garbage collection fees and only requires a one time $20 charge for the bin. So since I called on Labor Day, I assumed I'd get my cans sometime later in the week or maybe the next (I was actually really surprised I got my call answered). Imagine my surprise when I'm standing in my garage the same evening (still Labor Day) and the owner's son pulls up in a van to drop off my cans! Unbelievable service and now with two pickups so far I can say that these guys provide an incredible value for the area. I asked Nathaniel on the first service if they would pick up a lawnmower box filled to the brim with bags and he said he would have it picked up no problem. They come through my neighborhood early in the morning and take care of business. For $60/quarter, you can't beat it for the service. Keep in mind that they do not do yard or construction waste, but that's not what they advertise at all. Save some $$, support a local CLT business, and give 'em a call! read more

This company is absolute garbage! Pun intended. I can almost guarantee that any good review that has been posted is a friend or relative of the people attempting to run this business. The owner picks the routes and omits streets slap in the middle of said route that don't have enough houses to "make it worth his time." There are 6 houses on my street. 5 of them used Suburban Sanitation until one day when the owner knocked on the door to introduce himself and drop the news of discontinued trash service for all of us. If you want make a personal touch to the people who are contributing to your pay check then I would say this guy failed immensely. If you are unfortunate enough and your house is on a lucrative route then I suggest you don't over fill the trash can what so ever. I mean that lid better shut all the way without a peep of a trash bag peering between the top of the can and its' lid. I don't often write reviews but I would highly..........highly, recommend seeking another company or take it to the landfill yourself. Believe me and the countless and consistent reviews on this site and any other site you like to check reviews that ANY option is better than Suburban Sanitation. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would! I called customer service to get an understanding of my bill and what was being paid and the rep was completely unhelpful and passive. If I could help you by saving your money and allowing another trash service to better assist you I'd love that! Please do your research about these companies and make sure they are always willing to help no matter the situation. I am a realtor and respect each and every human being and believe they should find people who have no problem helping others. read more

I have called this company and sent them several emails about getting new service after I saw my neighbors were using them and they put flyers in my mailbox twice. When I finally got a hold of them they told me there was a freeze on customers in my area and that they did not service my address. I told them I found that kind of funny since they pick up trash from like 1/2 or more of the houses in my neighborhood. They said we don't know who your neighbors are and said well that's great customer service when you can't tell who's on my street that your picking up trash from. So I'm wondering if I should inform my neighbors that they may want to look for a different service since this company apparently does not service them anymore. read more

We recently got married October 15, 2016. We wanted something better than portable toilets. So we rented one of their trailers. It was a small one we didn't have that many guests so didn't need a huge one. But they were amazing. My guests had nothing but rave reviews about the fact we did that. With running water and flushing toilets. It made the day so much easier. To top it off. Granted the stalls are small, I was still able to go to the bathroom by myself with no help in a wedding dress. Absolutely beautiful. Will not hesitate to use it again. read more

I've been happy with Suburban Sanitation for some time and haven't had any complaints so far, but around the holidays this year, that changed. My bill is paid way in advance and when I called after New Year's to find out when my trash was going to be picked up, after three weeks of trash not being picked up, the owner was exceptionally rude to me. They take away the trash most weeks and it's a fair price - much lower than Waste Management - but just hope you don't have to actually speak with them. It's true that they're a better alternative than Waste Management, but this guy seriously needs some lessons on how to speak to his paying customers. read more

Suburban Sanitation made the transfer easy from another local trash collector. They are always timely and it seems like they work tirelessly to make sure their customers are taken care of. I needed some bulky equipment and a television picked up. My old carrier would have charged extra for this. With Suburban, I didn't even have to ask. I put it by the curb and it was taken care of (though they did say they like a bit of heads up for stuff like this, it is still included in the cost.) And as far as the cost goes, it is considerably cheaper than the competition. read more

This company gave me service back in August of this year. Here is October and they call me to inform me that they mistakenly gave me service for 2 months and now they are going to cancel it. They will refund me $40 of which I paid $60 per month. then when I call they have no answers as to why they gave me the service when they shouldnt have. Then they tell me to basically get over it and find a new provider. I try to support local minority businesses but when things like this happen, its hard to see now why I even did that. I do not recommend them and I'll make sure that everyone knows about it. But according to the man on the phone, they don't care. Trash service is just that, trash. read more

Management is rude. And the Company does not even pick up trash when they are suppose to. The one star is accurate, and that is generous!

Horrible customer serivce and horrible prices!! I had the misfortune of having to deal with Nate, the admin person whom replied to my email, and he was absolutely unprofessional. My one question turned into five different emails from him asking needless questions. And in the end, he didn't even answer the simple question I had asked. I will be looking for a new trash collection provider soon. *EDIT*. I just called asking why my $45 payment is now $50, and the representsive told me that when I started the service (1.5 years ago), there was a special going on. Now, he informs me that they are slowly increasing their price back to $60!!!!! Who does that?! And without any notice to customers? And the rep was not sympathetic, he merely stated the special is over and that is that. Who keeps a special going for 1.5 years then decides to hike the price back up? I am definitley leaving this company, even if it means I have to pay more for a different company. read more

I wish there were less stars to give this company. Setting up utilities is a hassle in itself. I did not expect trash to be so difficult. I left many many messages and filled out the form online. After 4 days without any word, I called again and left more messages, this time, I let it be known I was irritated, to not be able to get anyone on the phone for assistance. I was hung up on and told, " If I want service, go somewhere else". I asked politely but stern," Sir, are you telling me to go elsewhere because I can not get anyone on the phone to return call?" I guess this is typical of 2015 work culture. People who should not have jobs are employed. Customer service is at an all time low. read more

I did'nt have any issues with Suburban prior to this week. Our trash was not picked up and I called immediately when I noticed that the trash was not picked up. Left them a detailed voicemail. Called them again the next morning and spoke with them and was told they would send someone out to pick up the trash, however when i returned home, the trash was still there. It was'n't until i sent them an email that the owner called. He was rude and said our trash bin was not out but it was. I was basically accused of lying and he was not willing to send anyone to pick up the trash and told to wait another week. Trash Stinks! who wants to keep the trash for 2 weeks? Customer service does not exist for this company. Just hope that your trash gets picked up so you don't have to deal with them. read more

Until April 2015, I didn't have any problems with my trash service because I've never called them to request anything. I called the company to schedule for bags of leaves to be picked up on my next garbage collection date, and a man answered the phone very rude! No customer service voice and he sounded as if he was annoyed answering the phone. After I told him I had 12 bags of leaves for pickup, he told me that they would only pickup 5 bags and I can pay $50 for the extra bags. I told him that all the bags were heavy and sitting out at the curb, and asked as a courtesy if he could pickup the rest of the bags. The man kept interrupting me rudely while I was explaining the situation and I asked to speak with his manager. The man told me he is the owner and there is no one else I can speak with, I was appalled! After telling the owner how rude he is, I cancelled my service and switched to Advantage Waste the same day. Not only is the service cheaper by 5 dollars quarterly, but the customer service is great! I was told they only collect 4 bags of leaves on garbage collection day, but I could place them inside my roll-out container. I was only able to fit 3 bags inside my container, and I noticed that I had 22 bags of leaves at the curb instead of 12. I thought I had to call my HOA and explain the issue to avoid being penalized; however, on garbage collection day, ALL bags of leaves were taken! I called and thanked Advantage Waste for relieving me of this burden. I would've never received this service from Suburban because the owner doesn't believe in customer service. DO NOT SIGNUP FOR SERVICE AT THIS COMPANY! read more
