As a guarded, skeptic New Yorker, when a stranger, especially an attorney is going above and beyond…read moreto help your case, especially with little notice before the court date, it is hard to believe. After working with Jeffrey Berke, I have a renewal outlook toward New Yorkers. He is that one in a thousand. His genuineness is real. They don't make people like him anymore. He is an amazing, knowledge lawyer, and more importantly, a descent person. The judge knows his work and have the utmost respect for him. I've seen it! Most all my reviews in yelp are only negative. This review is one of few, if it's not the only positive review I've given. I want to share this honest experience because during a vulnerable period in life, when someone is trying to destroy me, a stranger i accidentally found on yelp, went above and beyond what I expected to get the necessary evidence to protect my interest. I only marveled at what just transpired, after realizing how fortuitous it was for me to find Jeffrey Berke.

I recently closed on a property in Queens and I cannot speak highly enough about Alexander Paykin…read moreand Maxx Smith. From start to finish they demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication and expertise that made an incredibly complex process feel manageable. What should have been a straightforward closing turned into a lengthy and challenging journey involving estate tax clearance complications, multiple rate lock extensions and board transitions. Throughout every obstacle Maxx was responsive, proactive and always had my best interests at heart. He went above and beyond at every turn, pushing hard when needed and keeping me informed every step of the way. Alexander and his team are not just attorneys -- they are true advocates for their clients. I would wholeheartedly recommend Paykin Law to anyone navigating a real estate transaction in New York. You will be in the very best hands.

James Fishman came highly recommended to me by a friend who had a wonderful, successful experience…read morewith him in a case against the same landlord (who was trying to rid the building of rent stabilized tenants). Before meeting with him, I was extremely stressed and did not think I (the little guy) would be able to fight this fight against the landlord (the big guy) after I received a notice advising me that the lease for my rent stabilized apartment would not be renewed. Within the first five minutes of meeting James, I knew I was in great hands. I could almost hear the Rocky theme song playing in my mind. Having James Fishman in your corner is good on a multiple of levels. In addition to his knowledge and expertise (to name a few of his many amazing professional qualities), his respectable, outstanding reputation speaks volumes. Suffice it to say he is known for being so amazing at doing what he does - the other side's attorney will more than likely know who he is and that you have muscle on your side. I will not go into the details of the case, but I will say that everyone in his office was top notch - especially Reuben Fuller-Bennett. They both kept me informed every step of the way. They determined which supporting documentation I needed to obtain, and they worked with me to figure out next steps as to how to obtain it. Once it was all gathered, they sent a letter with hundreds of pages of the supporting documents. We did not receive a response for weeks, but I was assured by James and Reuben that this was just the easiest first step and not to worry. Sure enough - a few weeks later I received an email from James with the words "Good News" in the subject line. The landlord would be sending me a renewal lease. Thankfully we did not have to go to trial, but I know if we had that it would have been successful because of James and his team. Suffice it to say that James Fishman came highly recommended to me, and I now know why from my own firsthand experience. I will highly recommend him to those I know, and I highly recommend him to all reading this.

But looking back, I realize it wasn't his effort that fell short, it was an extremely unfair judge. Through it all, he stayed committed to my case, stood by me when I thought about giving up, and fought hard to protect me from making mistakes that could have hurt me in court. What impressed me most is his character, when I apologized to him for how I handled things, he showed no grudges and continued to fight for me as if nothing had happened. That kind of integrity and dedication is rare. I would absolutely recommend Mr Holihan to anyone who needs an attorney that genuinely cares and stands firm for their clients, even under pressure.

I went to Will Forero for a personal problem regarding an issue with a problematic tenant…read more Unfortunately, he could not help me as there was a conflict of interest regarding that tenant. All was well and I thought that was the end of it. However, what I did not expect was for Mr. Forero to disclose what I had spoken to him in private to that tenant. Even if I was not a client yet, I went to him for advice and he broke confidentiality by speaking directly to that tenant. This was very unprofessional and does not set a good standard for his law practice. I will never be back and I hope future clients will take this review as a warning for his unethical practice. Edited: Not only is Forero unprofessional, he is a blatant liar. I have the email he sent me about the conflict of interest regarding my tenant. Now he is backtracking to cover his mistake.
