The head mechanic came over to my house (yes it was a romantic thing, no you can't put that on Yelp), and he immediately lost interest because he said my bedroom looked like a pig sty and come to think of it so did I. I responded "STY? ME?!?!?!?!" And that is how he got the idea for the name of this place.
I've used Stymie's at least 15 times over the past 10 years. I preferred it before old man Stymie passed away. He was a lovely guy and my favourite mechanic. Now his son owns it, and he's really nice, and so are the dogs, but I still miss the poor old guy. May he rest in peace. I love this garage and would recommend it to anyone.
By the way, Stymies is in the tiny and adorable village of Rapids, NY. It is not in Lockport, per se. If it was, then Darren would have reviewed it already. Twice.
It was a tragedy when Stymie died recently. He was probably the most honestest, awesomestest, cheapestest mechanic in the area. He was also the best spellerer. Honesty is a huge big deal when it comes to mechanics and Monsieur Stymie (originally French) (OK not really) had it in abundance.
Thankfully his son is carrying the torch (literally, and I think he should put it down a sec because his arm must be sore).
But seriously, his son has continued the honest, cheap and reliable tradition that was pioneered by his father. My only hope is that he never realizes that Darth Vader/Cigarette Smoking Man From X Files is actually his father. And that he never loses a hand in a Light Saber fight.
Did anyone else find that replacement hand a little bit creepy? No? Just me then.
I love you. I know.
Some people say I have Bette Davis eyes, whereas other people think I'm a spy, and I'm like... SPY? ME???
If you want a VERY good price and VERY honest appraisals, a garage that will never ever charge you for anything you don't need, or that doesn't work out for you - then this is the place you should go.
And please don't tell me I'm shy. Otherwise I'll just respond... SHY? ME? read more
