I briefly started getting my hair cut by a curly girl specialist but I always came back to David for the shape. I have been seeing David for over 10 years. I met him when my hair was down to my waist. He carried me through the emotional roller coaster of a pixie cut and back to a perfect curly bob. He can literally do anything and do it well. I always find myself enjoying the music and I appreciate the quality products he both sells and uses. I appreciate his work so much that he now cuts everyone's hair in my family! I have also found David to be a genuinely fabulous human. I enjoy his company during my cuts and always appreciate how easy it is to talk to him. Unfortunately, what I would NOT recommend is coming to get a balayage treatment done. I have never dyed my hair in the past and decided to do something different for a change. Having coming from Manhattan, I was intent on trying something different for $200 as opposed to $500. I figured with balayag being a very trendy style right now, the stylist had to have a ton of practice. After all, It is pretty hard to mess up -- especially when I show you a picture before hand. When I came in, I was completely brunette. And when I left I did not have a balayage (where my brown hair would gradually turn into blonde) but on the contrary, I was completely blonde with dark roots. Really not at all like a balayage. In fairness, my hair is extremely long. And thick. The appointment itself took 3 hours. I feel that the error came from both lack of experience and also management of time. We ran 30 minutes over into the next client's appointment (poor thing) and I felt like it was a rushed job. She didn't end up actually styling my hair because she ran out of time. I suppose a little of this is on me because I should have ensured she REALLY LOOKED at the picture. I was like here's the picture. She very quickly relied "oh I totally got it! I can do that" This was several months back and the reason I write about it now is because I now am having to pay almost $500 for a color correcting and CORRECT balayage. Moral of the Story: salon dacota is great. Just not for balayage. If you are wanting to do that, splurge and go somewhere that specializes otherwise you may end up paying more. Hope this is helpful!

I like how they traveled to me for this since I didn't want to be spending my wedding day traveling to and from the salon! She was very nice, but that doesn't compensate for experience. While I was okay with the hair cut, I was very unhappy with the highlights she gave me. I gave her a picture and she could not replicate it. She placed one of the highlights right under the part in my hair so the highlights didn't really show and they were not done all the way to my roots. After I was done, I looked like I got my hair done at least a month ago. I was not happy, but I was not going to complain about it because I didn't want her to try to fix it. I had already wasted enough time there. If you are willing to take the chance because of the cheaper prices, I hope your experience comes out better than mine.
