LJ, who is also working there, seems to have a steady clientele and every time I've gone, it's an easy in-and-out. Cash is king and but they also take cards. I also really like their online scheduling system. It makes it so easy. He also didn't ask for my name/age/address/birthday etc to enter into a computer. Dave's is a classic barber shop that's apparently been in the family for two generation. It has all the classic barber shop stuff around, like straight razors, "unbreakable" combs, and bottles of bay rum that look like they actually get used. The walls are covered with eclectic... stuff. Old hunting decoys, fishing knives. Guy stuff. It looks kind of like a man cave, which is just fine by me. I had the opportunity to shoot the shit with Dave for a while. Turns out, they don't take plastic and I didn't have any cash or a check book on me. My wife dropped me off, so I had to wait for her to come back with some cash. She was in a store and didn't get my calls. Dave kept the place open for me (they close at 6:00 on weekdays) and we both waited for over a half hour, talking about sports, hunting, junk scavenging, you know, stuff you expect to talk to your barber about. I apologized for keeping him, but Dave was very welcoming and didn't want me to worry. (Almost) anyone can cut hair, but it's pretty clear that Dave wants repeat customers and is willing to work for it.

Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by the owner, Kelly. She was very friendly and welcoming when I walked in. I had scheduled an appointment with Nick Stewart and didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Nick is very welcoming and easy to talk to. He has a lot of experience and the best part - he listened to what I was looking for. He didn't go as short as most barbers do - he really stood out for me. The cut is priced at $34 dollars. My hair is now so short that I can't even style it anymore. I ended up having to schedule an appointment with a different barber elsewhere to fix the shape. I was planning to re-perm my hair in a month, but now it's going to be 5-6 months before I'll have enough hair again. The absolute worst part was the customer service. When I went back to ask for a refund, Freddy had an attitude like it was my fault that he misheard my request. In fact, I wasn't even going to write this review originally, but the attitude was what set me off. Freddy, if you're reading this, you need to learn to double-check how much people want taken off the top. At other barbershops, they usually pull the hair up between the fingers to visually show the client and confirm how much length is coming off. I can't speak for the other barbers at this shop, but I would not recommend going to Freddy unless you want to risk getting a botched haircut because of a language barrier.
