SuperCuts is one of those companies, which surprises me with its' level of success, being a barber…read moreshop which has gone international, it has over 2,000 stores in the US alone. I always have found Supercuts to be a little expensive, charging £14.95 for a dry cut but for a city center, it is reasonable, especially considering my local barber at Kim-Creative was out, and she normally charges that anyway. The woman who served me was quite quick, and got me seated straight away. I told her about my past luck with barbers and she told me to let her know if she caught me, which was kind, and she also tried to have it as quick as possible, while also trying to make it "still look good" It is quite a nice salon in general, but is near enough the typical Supercuts layout. This SuperCuts is in a good location in the Manchester Arndale, and can be found on the top floor fairly close to Currys PC World and The Food Court. She got my haircut done quickly, and she done a good job of it too, for me to actually get numerous compliments, she tried her best not to "catch" me with the blades, as they normally seem to do, although she did catch me a few times. She also didn't soak my head in water, like the flooding of The River Thames, as I've had before which also shown that she was actually qualified. This was my first time in SuperCuts, and I was very pleased so I'm happy to award 3 stars, which is right on the brink of a 4 star review, which will be awarded if my 2nd visit maintains this standard, and I don't suffer from "2nd visit blues" as I have had at Jack Edward in Middleton, Mad Luck in Rochdale and various other barbers, so I do want to make sure a 4 star rating is deserved first. UPDATE: Due to huge inconsistencies in service from different members of staff, which could include treatments such as shaves to sometimes be denied or accepted and priced anywhere between £3.95 and £5.95, while also considering this and the quality of the finished cut and the service from certain staff members, it's hard to even know what you're getting from Supercuts anymore, and that's if you ever do get it, and the price you're getting it for, so sadly this has become much poorer recently and warrants a single one-star rating, I'm sorry to report. Being unable to make appointments and the fact you have to sit in for wait, where even one could be expected to wait an hour for a treatment expected to last 1/10 of that time is ridiculously stupid.

When I first came here I was continiously insulted by the hair dresser how horrible my hair was , and how it needed cutting from waist length to below my shoulders...and when he finished he curled it so i couldnt see the end result. Since then I have brought my partner in (who has long hair) and was treated so lovely, and they did a great job. I came in again and got served by the lady...wow what a lovely difference. This time she kept complimenting my hair and knew exactly what I wanted. She knew I was trying to keep it long so she skillfully layered my hair so the snapped ends were removed. I felt completely relaxed and trusted her which is rare in my case. She also showed me the back ,recommended products and styled my hair beautifully..just a shame it was raining outside! The prices start at £14 for a dry cut, £20 for a cut and wash and anything up to £38 for a cut , wash and blow dry. I just go in for a dry cut, there is no booking system so I recommend you go before 5pm as a lot of people use it when they finish work.

I soon as I did this I began imaging how I was going to cover my bald head or perhaps that I should try and call my GP to try and get a free wig off the NHS. Either way my trembling fragile mop sat staring at me in the mirror all delicate and resting on my head, so unsuspecting of what was to come. Turns out they don't let just about anybody off the street do it, the students are all well practised and some just at the turning point where the cut would of cost you £50. My hair was very pleased and I've been somewhat of a regular since. Once there was too many students and I ended up getting my haircut by a teacher, so essentially got a hundred pound haircut. My hair was over the moon that time. Yours might be too?

They're not easily ditched (it may be my loyalty gene), and once you've found one, you keep them hidden like a little secret that's only shared with your nearest and dearest. After one visit, I'm not 100% convinced I've found this in VS. Sure-- their reputation is unparalleled. And like my fellow Yelper said, THEY certainly do tell you what you want. Which, for the most part is okay by me. I'm not a hair stylist and darned if I know what I look good in / what looks good on me. But two things I do know: I don't like my curly hair and when I pay a small fortune to have it cut and styled, I like to have it straightened. Buzzing in a bit of factory-like way, they do take great care to give you a great cut. Their whole philosophy is based on the fact that they work with your natural hair to make it look great. I can appreciate that. But when I've lived with my hair for 35 years, and have never been satisfied with or successfully made it look great regardless of hair cut or product, I think I have the right to ask the person I'm paying to do my hair to blow dry it straight. Perhaps I'm too eager to please or easily chastised... either way, 75 GBP later, I walked out of there with curly hair. *Sigh* I guess my hunt will continue...

Gone are the days of the barber shop......no really....GONE!!! Vidal sassoon has over the last 50…read moreyears revolutionised the art of hair cutting/styling. He has created an art form a science and he is still going strong at the age of 83. He might live in LA but his brand is now spread worldwide and his legacy will no doubt live on. The concept is so different here. You don't walk into one of these salons and tell the stylist what you want. THEY tell YOU... what you should have. For example clippers!!!! According to one of the stylist I was talking to during my last cut, everyone's head shape is different their faces are unique. That's a fair point right?? So if you use the clippers and just follow the contours of the head depending on how your head is shaped and it won't be perfect with no bumps let me tell you, it will look odd. What the stylist do here is recommend the right hair cut which best suits your head and face, I think this is fair point. Whether you care or not is a different matter but I still feel the argument is a compelling one. Now this almost scientific attitude towards hair styling didn't come about over night as I mentioned Vidal has been going for over 50 years. It almost acts as an international academy now for the rest, who merely follow in their footsteps. Ok so let us come to the issue of how much it would set you back. Cheap it is not, but needless to say the service will be impeccable and you will be in safe and expert hands. A consultation, shampoo massage, conditioner and finish will set you back around £50, however there is a 20% discount available for students as well as corporate discounts. The ideal scenario I suppose is a gift voucher which is a perfect gift or treat for a friend or other half. Must add that price tag is for a creative level 1 cutter. As you go up The ladder the price goes up. Creative director of this salon for example will charge £89. Which is less than they do in London ....around £120... So Like I said just wish that someone treats you to a gift voucher or go along yourself, and be educated in the art and science of hair styling. If you want the best you gotta cough up right??

I've also had issues with their online booking service and deposits As well as them losing my vouchers on their system. At £65 a haircut I expect much better and I won't be returning. Don't believe the hype, my local hairdresser is far superior in techniques on curly hair and much cheaper!

I went for the first time here after seeing that they had won some awards and also checking out…read moretheir instagram, which had really nice hair colour works, and I must say I was very impressed. The stylist I had was Lauren and she took the time to do a proper consultation and give recommendations on style and colour. She also did a fantastic job with my highlights and colour, and got rid off all the black roots and brassy yellow on the lengths of my hair. I liked the way she packed the highlights tight and to the very root, so my pink colour came out beautifully. The staff are all very friendly, and the salon is very clean. MT is probably the best salon I have ever been too, as many salons I have been to before just never get my colour right like here. They are very popular though, so it's best book a few weeks in advance.
