I've always enjoyed my shopping experiences coming to style encore. Good shopping experiences, decent clothing selection, good prices, nice selection. The men's section is seriously lacking though. I also know that people find items at Goodwill and bring them to style encore for consignment. This is fine. Personally, though I don't want to be confronted with this fact (and the cost discrepancies) when looking to buy items. Please remove old Goodwill stickers from items before putting them on the racks. I was visiting Sioux Falls, SD and decided to check out the local thrift stores. Style Encore was the first one I found and didn't need to go any further! Excellent style, selection of sizes, clean, perfectly priced and super friendly staff. I loaded my cart and took my time trying everything on. As I narrowed down my selection and proceed to the check out, a few more items caught my eyes. I was tapped out on trying to find tops for the additional items I selected so I asked the staff for some help. I'm not certain but I believe the person who helped me was the owner and she was wonderful to work with. Next time I'm in Sioux Falls, SD I know where I'm going. if you're looking for overpriced used SHEIN, Target, and Maurice's clothing you'll love it there...I'll bring in quality brands like Banana Republic, Express, and Gap clothing and they'll "pass" on it. even though my things are in excellent condition and still in style... I peruse the racks hoping to find something worthwhile and it's all cheap garbage from places like Shein... The clothes are decent at a good cost. Came in trying to dress my new postpartum body and none of the clothes I bought fit quite right. I had to return a decent amount of clothes. I apologized and tried to make small talk while the associate that rang me up made several snarky comments about how large my return was. This store just bums me out. It used to be my absolute favorite place to shop and score some cute clothes for prices that wouldn't break my single mama budget. I don't know what happened the last couple years. Today was probably my last time I'll ever go there. Its hard to describe the way it feels when you walk in, so awkward and like I'm inconveniencing them. Every sales associate behind the counter looked me up and down, but didnt say anything to me or even smile, sheesh. I brought 8 items to the dressing room to try on, was informed I could only bring six in w me and to leave them on the outside hook. This is an inconvenience, but whateva it's cool. Tried on my items and went to retrieve the others and there was someone else's stuff on the hook...? So, I just didn't get the opportunity to purchase them I guess. The dressing room attendant was curt, pointing out to me I left clothes and I explained to her they weren't mine. That apparently warranted an eye roll. I had only kept one shirt and was actually excited about purchasing it! However, after that experience and shopping around for a bit after trying on, they made me feel just so yuck! Like so totally unwanted there I just put the shirt back on the rack and left. It's just so very odd. I wouldn't say this except for it's been the last three or four times I've been there. For a lady who doesn't get the opportunity to shop for herself much, I won't continue to go to a place that is so rude and snarky. I really just feel bad for them...no business can be sustainable treating people that way. I mean, y'all sell used clothes...not sure how you got so far up your high horse in the first place! Lol jk. Stopped in to this store to sell some clothing. I brought in 3 totes, they took 20 items and gave me $87. I dropped off the clothes around 1pm and they were not done looking through the clothes until 4:30pm. When you go in you check yourself in with a tablet, and they can text you once your items are ready to be picked up. The store is overall clean and organized. The staff is not exceptionally friendly but appear to be very busy going through clothes, they only have about 3 sales associates working. Here's the thing. These types of places are typically too busy staying organized to have good customer service- I don't need an employee to ask me how's it going, am I finding everything ok, etc. But for goodness's sake, I wouldn't mind feeling welcome! The first time I visited, I needed a pair of boots really quick and then to get back to work. Stood outside in the snow for 8 minutes past the opening time, knocked on the door, called their phone. No answer, no hint that they were going to open on time. Got in, bought my boots. I like their pricing and selection just ok, but I wasn't greeted until I was at the register. Today I needed a pair of flats- the lack of greeting as usual, no music in the store. Eerie. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but if I felt welcome in this store by even one employee, I would probably shop there a lot more often. I feel like I'm intruding in someone's personal possessions. I can't be the only one to receive such a cold shoulder. It comes off as...stuck up. In any case, I'll have to stop in when I need a good quality piece of professional women's clothing in a pinch, but this is not my first choice if I want to leisurely browse and spend more than 25$, by any means. read more

This store is a good size, and have a great selection of designer handbags. They frequently have fantastic sales, periodically 70% off. I've acquired several Coach & Fossil bags these sales. They occasionally have $1 sales that I've found tons of great items at. When they aren't having a sale I commonly find items that are new with tags for at least 1/2 the original price and often at a higher discount than that. I recommend being a member of the rewards program. The clothes for sale are mediocre, potentially not my style however I was least impressed by the customer service. The employees were cold and not at all welcoming whatsoever. The only employee in there that actually looked me in the eyes was the male/female (I don't want to offend or assume gender/pronouns) with the black curly hair and the long eyelashes! He/she has amazing customer service skills and should teach the others how to have a conversation that seems like they actually give a sh*t! I visited this establishment on July 25th, 2022 in the evening and the 2 other women at the counter were so short and made me not want to come back. Horrible - don't waste your time! I have been there 2 times with at least 50 pieces of clothing and Coach bags. Both times I have been offered less than $20 for a few pieces and pass on everything else. My items are in perfect condition, less than 3 years old, from Gap, Loft, Macy's, etc and they pass on everything. When you look at things in the store, they aren't as nice as the things I'm selling. Today when I picked up the things they passed on, I asked for some explanation. The woman said it was because of normal wear and tear. At least 5 pieces had tags on them!! Also, I make sure things are not wrinkled, folded nicely, etc. When I picked things up, everything was rolled into a ball. This place is a joke! read more

I took in several totes and they kept 3 items for resale. Two of the items were shoes that had never been worn and a pair of jeans that had never been worn. I got $11 total. Then to top it off, they lost a nice cuff bracelet that matched a necklace I have. That's fine if you want to not buy something from me, but at least make sure I get everything returned to me. I went today to look at handbags. I really wanted to make sure I got a real designer bag and not a knock off. I spent well over an hour there- and not one person said "hello." Not even when I walked into the store. Then I began sifting through the bags- finding fake designers in there which was disappointing enough, but then again were nasty. I don't mean scuffs and some dirt, that's to be expected. I found stir sticks, receipts, old candy wrappers, etc in the bags. There were a couple bags that I did find that I might go back and get- I haven't decided yet. But I had my phone readily available to look up what to look for to make sure a bag is really authentic. I have a feeling by how some of one brand was displayed vs another style of the same brand that they knew some of them were knock offs (think Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs). Jury's still out in of/when I'll go back. But seriously- a hello and acknowledgement is appreciated. read more

I brought a pair of women's shorts with vaginal discharge on the liner to the attention of a sales associate and manager. The manager wordlessly took the shorts from me- wiped the crotch with a baby wipe- and handed them back to me. This is NOT acceptable ANYWHERE. The health department will be called after the holiday weekend. Filthy & disgusting with little respect or regard for their clientele. Store is disorganized and selection is packed in. I also took in four pairs of jeans - silvers and vigoss and four shirts - two of the shirts did not have tags but had never been worn. One of the shirts was still being sold at Macy's. The individual helping me was 40+ wearing high boots a flannel wrapped and tied around the waste, jeans and a black jean jacket and tee. She had huge curly hair and looked like an 80's flash back including smeared red lipstick. I only mention this because all four items I brought in were returned to me for their wear and how well they would sell. She stated they weren't current. They advertise high end but I as someone who watches and follows fashion - no one in the store was "fashionably dressed" and some items pushed retro or vintage. Advertise what you want. read more

I don't publicly complain about places of business, but this store is actually laughable, in my opinion. I took some very high end clothing in to be consigned. I was at the Sioux Falls Expo over the weekend and they had a booth and the idea of collecting money on the spot was appealing. The lady at the Expo was very friendly and professional. However, when I got to the store the clerks there seemed unaffected and bothered by my never having been there and had to ask how to proceed. I was under the impression this store was a cut above other consignement stores and nothing could have been more the opposite. When I came back to receive my payment, I literally dropped my jaw. I quietly took my money (which I figured out that I got maybe $2 an item and they will probably sell everything I brought -- and right away -- for about 50 times that amount.) I will definitely not be taking anything there again for resale. I might add, after speaking to several of my friends, the consensus is this place of business is not worth the time and energy to gather your things and take them there only to be treated rather rudely and get a negligible amount of cash for very decent clothing.
