I have been to a variety of Stuttgart hotels over the 20 years and my music touring activities, and despite the hotel may not show on the outside, the inside is nicely redone and rooms and conference areas are wonderful. This review comes after being a Marriott Bonvoy platinum member for over 11 years having stayed at Marriott properties throughout the world. I can honestly say the Marriott Sindelfingen Germany is by far THE WORST Marriott property I have stayed at. However, I want to start this review on a positive note and recognize some very hard working staff in certain sections. Breakfast Buffett: The gentleman at the morning omelet station is super kind and the results of his food are amazing. I can't think of his name at the moment of writing this review but he is the only male cooking in the morning. Bar: Alex the bartender has great customer service skills. He sparks really good conversations and is super helpful with sharing information about the local area. His drinks are always great just overall a great guy. Management: During my stay here, I have had conversations with management about issues during my stay. My most recent conversation was with Juan Carlos. He was very receptive to my comments / criticism of the property. He actually made me feel like he cared and was a great listener and shared with me information that allowed me to understand why certain things were happening. Great management skills. Now for the not so pleasant criticism: Housekeeping: For those of us staying long term, we get cleaning once every 3 days. This is absolutely reasonable. However, they only give you two towels per room for those three days. I am a single person to a room that showers two times a day. Once in the morning after my workout and once before bed. Two towels doesn't cut it for 6 showers. If your going to extend the cleaning period, at least leave enough towels or have a policy in place to do just a towel swap if needed. Next is the shampoo / conditioner / body wash containers. They are affixed to the shower and are full size containers to last a while. On one occasion, I ran out of both shampoo and bodywash. This happened at the day 15 mark. So the containers do last a while. When I ran out, I called the front desk and asked them to please have housekeeping refill the containers. When I got back they were not refilled. I ended up buying my own shampoo and bodywash from the store. The second day before going to work I stopped by the front desk and again asked them to please ensure the containers were refilled. They assured me they would be. When I came back after work, they were again not refilled yet. On the third day, I took the containers off the wall and physically walked them down to the front desk and finally asked to speak to a manager as I was extremely frustrated that it took 3 days to get my containers refilled and only after having to walk them down myself. The manager invited me to a cocktail and had the containers refilled immediately. While I appreciate the cocktail, I want to point out that for 15 days the cleaners had to come to my room at least 5 times, to clean up. During that time, they should have seen that the containers were running low and refilled them. They were not doing that so maybe a policy needs to be put in place that they check the levels of the containers and if they are less than 1/4 full they need to be refilled before the hotel guest has to request it. During my stay, I noticed the housekeeping staff is a third party cleaning company as they do not wear Marriott uniforms and have a different logo on their uniforms. This would explain why there are inconsistencies with the cleaning service. Additionally, this raises some concerns for me because they are third party contractors. Therefore, Marriott doesn't really have much control over these contracted employees or their policies. Additionally, the quality of background checks they conduct on these employees is unknown. While I have not experienced anything negative, I would feel more comfortable knowing Marriott company employees are the ones servicing my room. Executive Lounge: The lounge is accessed using your hotel key. So if you pay for the executive lounge access or you are entitled to access based on your Marriott Bonvoy status your access is granted onto your keycard. My issue is even though I swipe my card and gain entry, there is an employee in the lounge that again asks for your room information. Although minor it just gets annoying because like I have said I have traveled the world for the past 11 years as a platinum member. This is the first lounge that double checks your access. There are waaaay better lounges with better food and drink selections that do not do this. On one occasion, I went in the lounge to just get a glass of water from the water machine. I grabbed a glass and started to walk out when I was stopped by the employee working the lounge. She had zero tact and called attention to me as though I was about to commit the biggest crime. She then proceeded to tell me that I cannot take anything out of the lounge. A glass of water folks!??? read more

Always a nice hotel to come back to! Near a Kaufland grocery store (just around the corner). Parking here is a bit tight so make sure your car or rental is small. Rooms are clean and always have everything I need...you know, all the toiletries! Make sure you give them your Marriott Bonvoy number so you can earn points. :) They have a steakhouse downstairs on the main floor as well as room service (for us lazy folks or frequent travelers)! After staying here over 40 nights, it is a solid hotel. The outside is showing some wear and tear. The inside has a modern feel, and the staff is friendly and helpful to German and non-German speakers. The steakhouse is so-so, the local bar is unassuming, and the kitchen turns out a pretty enjoyable breakfast every day. The rooms are large for euro standards, but the shower is where I took issue with the room. A removal spray head and the bathroom door doubles as the shower door. I know it's very European to have an open shower, but it just kind of sprays on to the bathroom floor and carpet outside the bathroom. They have made 3 separate gyms in the time of COVID, but only have 2 washer and dryers for the entire hotel to use to do laundry. Most mornings there will will be a grouping of Karens worshiping the washer and dryer, and they berate anyone joining the line to wash their own laundry. Overall, great hotel with only a few minor issues. read more

This hotel staff speaks great English, everything is kept in pristine condition and the location is smack dab in the center of everywhere you want to be near Stuttgart (Böblingen is near, and the train in Goldberg brings you down town Stuttgart). The bar isn't overpriced and the breakfast has everything you could possibly want in a European breakfast (eggs to order, pastries, great espresso maker, sandwich meats/accoutrements; even the muesli and cereal selection is superb!) 10/10 I would recommend and stay again! read more

If you are a loyal Marriott customer, don't expect an upgrade. If you are traveling for business, it is worth staying here. Rooms are clean and fairly modern. Internet is sufficient and overall condition of hotel is lack luster. Actually, it could use a complete overhaul. If you can get a room for less than 150€, it is worth it. Pool is nice but gym is an accident waiting to happen. Every piece I attempting to utilize sounded or felt as if it was going to fall apart and lop off an appendage... And finally, my biggest gripe. While I am not mega Marriott Star but I do have about 5 years Platinum, over 600 nights and getting close to 1.5 M points. I have been upgraded at every single Marriott (to include many Ritz and other luxury properties) but have NEVER been upgraded here. I have stayed here at least 7-10 times as a Platinum and the only "upgrade" I've been offered is a twin room on Club floor...1st world problems, I know but da*% Marriott! However, the steakhouse is worth a visit. It is no Flemmings but good for Europe. They also have real American cuts (24OZ Porter House, 20 Oz Ribeye etc.) The beef is from Kansas and my experience was enjoyable. Best part about hotel, the bar. The bartender is from Jamaica and is excellent. The man will remember you and what you ordered a year prior. The drinks are expensive but, the bar is good to go. read more

Its OK for a business hotel, but the experience isn't memorable. The welcome is luke warm, the basement parking to terribly tight, the rooms are non-descript and the restaurant is very dull and impersonal. You can ask for a voucher for the internet when you check in. You won't add this to your preferred list when you check out. read more

A bit worn down. Only hotel I have been at for the last 12 months that did not have a flat TV but a rather old and small CRT type TV.. Bar is good with attentive staff and a decent selection of drinks. Food was not too good - had a ceasar salad (with chicken) that was pretty poor.. read more

The rooms are decent but that's all you get at this hotel. You pay for parking but then you're asked to park on the street. You pay extra for breakfast and you get the same exact thing every single day. A little variety can't hurt especially if you're staying a week or more. The restaurant/bar food in the hotel is not good at all. The exercise room has three cardio machines. There's an indoor pool but you can't use it. Overall, you expect much more from a Marriott and I am extremely disappointed. I won't be returning. read more

This is a subpar Marriott treating you more like a child/inmate than a guest. While the rooms are average at best and the gym is below the Marriott brand standard, my particular bones are with the approach to the Executive lounge. Unlike most Executive lounges that cater for the frequent traveler, this one has unique rules. Primarily, you cannot bring drink or food in or out. Doing so will result in a staff scolding. Example: It is 6:21AM and I just returned from the gym. I popped into the Executive lounge to grab some breakfast. Not wanting to gross out any other guests, grabbed a plate with a small piece of bread, two slices of ham and a slice of cheese. As I departed for my room the staff member accosted me saying that I could not remove food from the lounge. Come on... Example 2: Having had to park five minutes away due to the onsite construction, passed by a pizza-joint on the walk to the hotel. It is 6:00pm so decided to grab a couple pizzas for myself and another and head to the crowded out Executive lounge. Upon entering the staff publicly accosted us for bringing in the pizza. I then suggested that we grab a drink and head to a room. Oh no, you cannot remove drinks from the lounge. I hate writing reviews as its negative energy and it wastes time, but if I believed management would address the issue I would talk to them first. But seriously, an Executive lounge is not a 'restaurant' as the staff tried to tell me. I always understood it as a place to enhance traveler productivity and efficiency. If this means that a traveler grabs some snacks and a drink and heads back to their room, then what is the problem? If I want to have dinner with a friend that doesn't involve eating the limited buffet while still having a drink, what is the problem? What if you are a single traveler and, given the environmental equivalent of a Panera Bread over the lunch rush, you do not want to be forced to sit and eat- especially when there are not enough tables to accommodate. What if you want a coffee and the freeze-dried packets in the room just don't cut it (yes, the ones where you snip the end off and pour it into you cup with boiling water). Most decent hotels have graduated to the Nespresso or the like. This is just a tragic Marriott hotel that, unless someone else made your reservation or are concerned about Marriott points, you should look elsewhere. It is not even in a good location proximity wise to Stuttgart, restaurants, life. But, to my main point, they certainly make no real accommodations for the Executive traveler- which is further evident by the TV tray type desk in the room. Further notes on the room include, paint chipped walls, small bathroom, only two US channels (CNN & USA, the latter all tele-commercials in the morning) and a pseudo thermostat control which obviously does nothing. Last point, the steakhouse may say they get their steaks from the US, which likely involves freezing them during shipment, but they are not even close to being what you would expect from a US steak. If you are a traveler or you have a choice, resist the Marriott affiliation and stay elsewhere. Whether traveling for business or pleasure being treated like a child is not on the schedule especially over something so benign. The hotel is lucky that it has guaranteed clientele given its relationship with certain entities in the area. More savvy travelers will see the flaws. This is one of those hotels that makes me want to flip back to Hilton. read more

I have been a long time member with Marriott and their rewards program. I have stayed 350 paid nights over the last couple years. I am only writing this because of the extra perks and benefits I usually get with status tiers as Marriott hotels in general are not that good. This past December 12th I began a long stay of 51 nights. Last year was a slow year due to a military deployment, but I stayed 8 nights previously. Since the 51 night stay I stayed a total of 17 additional nights. That brings my total nights in 7 months to 76. My Marriott app was only showing credit for 48 nights, thus keeping me out of gold elite and platinum status. So I called customer care line to get this fixed. After waiting 23 minutes for a representative to answer I began questioning as to why I am not getting my credit for all the nights I have spent with them in the last 7 months for my platinum status. She says they only give credit for nights in a calender year now so last year's nights no longer count (my credit card says otherwise). Then I say I should at least be gold elite status as I have spent 68 nights with them this calender year. She says my long stay was broken up by the hotel in to two stays. Putting the first 30 days on last years credit (which no longer counts). I try to reason with her stating that I only get credit for a stay after I check out of a hotel and I checked out on Feb 1 this year. Therefore the entire un-interrupted stay should be on this year's status. She says Marriott checks you out and back in after you spend a certain amount of money and that's why I am not getting credit for my entire stay. I ask for a manager to fix this because this makes no sense other than to hinder my silly status rewards. She says she is a supervisor and there is nothing she can do. I let her know after a long time member who has spent just under an entire year of stays with Marriott and Marriott's unwillingness to serve their customers, that Marriott will no longer receive my business as there are many other reward programs out there that are better than theirs with better customer service. read more

Government employees beware. Was booked a room here for a PCS move and was charged more than double the government rate with no help from staff to resolve the situation. Talked with management who was zero help. They knew how to take advantage of the members and did. Place is under renovation and had no hot water on two of the days. Pretty sure that is not worth 623 EUR in one night. This business is shady be careful. read more

This is a nice hotel but the steak restaurant is sub par for my American standards. Also the Seasons restaurant is not really a restaurant at all. It's a bar that serves food and room service. First meal orders was a burger and fries but the fries were basically crumbs and burger had so much cheese it was unpleasant. Second order was nachos and chicken breast. Not bad but was just a pile of tortilla chips pile of quac and pile of salsa. The chicken was hot and after cutting out the RAW center was the best part of the dish. Like I said it's a bar that serves food not a restaurant. Oh the last thing I ordered was a grill ham and cheese. Aside from it being cold upon arrival it was the best item I ordered from room service to date. read more

I love Marriott hotels but this one is pretty tired. The staff was friendly and the hotel food was good for hotel food but the decor needs a facelift. That said I'd come back here since it was pretty much the only Marriott property in the area and I tend to frequent Marriotts. read more

The place is in dire need of renovations to make it more aesthetically pleasing. The rooms are okay in terms of the bathroom and the bed. The carpet definitely needs to be replaced. The old school huge TVs need to go. The hallways smell of cigarette smoke at random times of the day. The wifi quality is mediocre. There is no place in the hotel to do laundry besides the expensive laundry service offered by the hotel. If you are a card carrying elite Marriott member, then there is an executive lounge which has complimentary breakfast for the elite members. However, it doesn't seem like anyone ever checked the status of the people having breakfast and dinner. Once someone figured out that there is "free" food at the executive lounge, all they had to do was take the staircase to the top floor and piggy back with someone entering the lounge. No questions asked. As a result, the lounge was always packed with kids and people - half of whom I am sure shold not have been there. Speaking of which, this place is heavily used by US military personnel for short and long term stays. They make themselves obvious with their high and tight haircuts and uniforms (which I am pretty sure is against proper Anti-Terrorism precautions in a foreign country). If you want to know what is going on in the DOD, sit around the lounge and listen to the military guys talk loud about this and that while pounding back "free" executive lounge beers. Other than that, this place is ok because of the staff. The people working there are extremely nice, helpful, and informative. read more
