I went in with a terrible cut done by a friend that needed fixing but I didn't even know how bad it was, I just knew I needed someone I could trust with my hair and immediately I was set at ease by Adam who taught me more about my hair than I even knew. Seeing as I'm anal about my hair, he was so good at checking in with me to make sure it was what I was going for along the way and I was so grateful he saw my vision and made it a reality. The place is cute and they were able to take me same-day which was super helpful. The prices were totally reasonable and I'm just so glad I found this place. Even though I live in Brooklyn, I'll for sure be back here. Even the hair washer was meticulous and made that part of the cut a luxury experience with her magic hands. Thank you again! read more

There is no better place in Astoria -- and honestly NYC for versatile, quality in European style hair care. I don't trust anyone with my hair cuts the way I do Tina. We've been through a LOT of styles together and they're always top notch. The vibe is professional, the venue so clean, and the experience the kind you'd have at top European salons across the continent. read more

I cut my hair cut by Milan today and the entire experience was lovely - everyone was super attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, everyone there looked great and my cut turned out beautifully. Milan listened to what I wanted and gave me a gorgeous cut/style/blowout. After having some truly horrifying experiences at Gigi's Salon and Immagine (feel free to message me for photos/details) I finally have a local hair studio I trust. 10/10, will be back for a touch up in a few months! read more

W-o-w Milan, you are a wonderful soul who has the power of the scissors to turn hair into an identity for someone. I am visiting from LA and was in dire need of a cut. I have thick straight hair and currently have a pixie cut. It can be hard to find someone who can understand my hair AND style. I gave this place a shot based on reviews and price (short hair remember not long). I told Milan I've actually been trying to grow my hair and he told me I look great with short and can pull it off. Flattered by his compliment I obviously said ok do whatever you want. He was so nice and said thank you for trusting me. Ugh. What a guy. AND. BONUS. The wash station was indeed comfortable. I think someone else noted this and I was like "wth does that even mean" but that person was right!!! AND the person who washed my hair was AMAZING. I was like oh... my... gawd... did I just enter a spa? Long story still long. I got an amazing cut, met a wonderful stylist, and even got a nice spa treatment. read more

Today, I had my hair cut by Adam, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! Adam took the time to understand exactly what I wanted, offering great suggestions and really listening to my preferences. The haircut itself was perfect--sharp, stylish, and easy to manage, just like I had hoped. I also have to give a huge shoutout to Tanja--she's not just a hair washer; she's an absolute head massage expert! From the moment I sat down, Tanja transformed what could have been a simple hair wash into a luxurious, spa-like experience. Her technique is soothing and incredibly relaxing, making you feel like all the stress just melts away under her touch The whole salon experience was amazing too. The atmosphere at the Studio Tim is both professional and welcoming, making me feel comfortable and well taken care of. read more

Haircut by Vesna and couldn't be happier! Took her time listening to what I wanted and did exactly what I pictured. I have been to both Vesna and Tina and couldn't recommend them more! Both are very talented and kind, always leave her with a smile and a new confidence with my hair! read more

My daughter got the best hair cut she's ever had. The stylist took his time to make it perfect!

I was looking for a new salon and studio Tina is one of the many that popped up. After reading all the Yelp reviews, I decided to make chance, and I'm so glad I did! I made an appointment with Tina and she was awesome. She listened to what I wanted and some of the concerns I had regarding my hair length and texture. She gave me great pointers and advice regarding my hair. The cut came out amazing, perfect length and style. Also want to mention her team , they're pretty amazing, everyone is so friendly and kind. They make you feel welcomed. Check this place out, highly recommend read more

Worst haircut of my entire life, avoid Adam if possible (not a joke). For context, I am male and came in with hair that reached below my ears. When fully wet and combed down, it was a bit above my shoulders. I left with hair above my ears... I showed Adam two pictures: one for length reference and one for "flow/style" reference. We discussed it for a while, and it was clear that we were both somewhat confused. Keep this in mind for later. Now tell me if you'd feel comfortable with your hairdresser/stylist cutting off 6-8 inches of your hair WITHOUT EVEN CONFIRMING ONCE!!!!!!! Zero check-ins, zero communication, zero back and forth. 45 minutes of complete silence after a 30 second 'what do you want' For someone making such a drastic change to your hair, does that sound like a professional stylist you'd trust? I decided to try this place out--never again. read more

What a lovely salon and such friendly stylists! I was warmly greeted at the door and was quickly shown to the station. Vesna came out within a couple of minutes and she spent quite a bit of time talking to me about the type of cut I was looking for. I explained to her because of my rheumatoid arthritis, my hair is very thin and I lose it very easily. She talked to me about the type of cut she thought would not only look good on me, but also would put the least amount of stress on my hair. She also gave me some great tips. She and I chatted easily and she definitely went above and beyond making sure my layers were even. In the end, I love my new look and couldn't be happier. I will definitely be returning! Vesna is a wonderful stylist and I love the cleanliness of the shop. Five stars!! read more

I've recently moved into the neighborhood and wanted to find a salon I can stick with. I saw Vesna's review here and decided to book an appointment. I didn't have a good idea as to what I wanted to do with my hair (I wanted to keep the length but also cut it short lol) but Vesna was very helpful- we ended up cutting the front a bit short to keep the hair out of my face and giving me long layers. She didn't pressure me to get a blow out since I usually let my hair air dry and wanted to see how it would look normally. Also didn't get overcharged for having "thicker" hair like some other salons do!! Will definitely return for a trim in a few months :) highly recommend read more

I'm so glad so many people favored this place in reviews for the area because I was in desperate need of a haircut and got a great one here. When I went it was the last appointment of the day, which was nice, especially during this time. Tanya gave me one of the best shampoos of my life! i was very relaxed for my haircut. Tina cut my hair thanks to the reviews and was great. I showed her photos of inspiration of what I wanted and she delivered. She took a buzzer to the back of my head, which instilled fear (apparently this is an European technique), but as you can tell it turned out wonderfully. I haven't been able to style my hair this way again since I got it cut (I told Tina I'm terrible at straight styling!), but have gotten lots of compliments on the short hairdo and am looking forward to going back. Great haircut in a convenient location! read more

Went in for a cut with Milan, quite reluctant since it was my first time there. Having experienced horrific hair stylists in the past, I did thorough research before I scheduled an appointment so I was hoping I wasn't in for a disastrous experience. The moment I walked in, all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Milan was all ears when I explained to him what I wanted. Considering I was chopping off a foot of hair, I wanted to make sure everything was discussed in detail. I felt a sense of relief by his attitude. He was so accommodating and kind - he was super patient with listening to exactly what I wanted. He is super detailed and makes sure the finished look is exactly what you were going for. You can tell he really enjoys what he does and strives to finesse each cut. I can't praise his work enough. Thank you, Studio Tim. Thank you, Milan! read more

I just wanted to update my review and let you know that I still love studio Tim. I've gotten color and cut from every single person there over the last several years and everyone's work is consistent and perfect. I feel very welcomed going there and they always accommodate my rather tight schedule. Vsena Milan and Tina I love you so much thank you for your fabulous, consistent and professional work over the years. read more

If you're in a rush, DON'T come here. I walked in and everyone was standard salon fake friendly. Sat for 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. A woman came in after me and was in the chair before me- very tacky. I won't be going back! In response to the comment: being ignored for a half hour also isn't polite. I got the best hair cut of my life! I told my stylist Dejan that and he humbly said "C'mon", lol. My positive experience started with the person that answered the phone and made my appt. She asked me a couple of questions about my hair and what I was interested in....so nice and knowledgeable. She matched me with a great person! Then I got an amazing wash by Tanya. I think I left my body for a couple of minutes. It was so relaxing. After, I had my full consult with Dejan and he just "got it". I knew I could trust him. He was very personable and professional. So no, I didn't magically lose 20 yrs or became the K. Kardashian of my community, but I felt like the most beautiful version of myself. I have naturally gray hair, so it is course and frizzy. However, it is also gorgeous....thanks to the people at "Studio Tim". You've got to try it!! I got a cut and style read more

I was sick of my Pandemic hair and decided to try Studio Tim (a few weeks ago) since it got great reviews and is a short walk from my apartment. I booked with Milan - he was very nice and polite as well as really attentive. He took the time to look at the pictures I brought and discuss my treatments with me (He did balayage/ombre with ash blonde highlights and trimmed exactly the length we discussed, with precision). I was beyond happy with Milan's excellent work and left with a big smile to match my freshened up hairdo. There were 2 other stylists (Tina and I think Pedja) - I didn't get to chat a lot with them, but everyone was warm and friendly. Also, the salon was very clean, everyone wore masks, there were hand sanitizer pumps at each stylist's workstation, and the prices were very reasonable. Thank you, Milan and Studio Tim!! read more

Shame on me it took me so long to write a review here. Tina, one of the partners of Studio Tim has been my hairdresser for at least 3 years. I should admit, more like a friend now. I watched her build her business from scratch together with her partner Milan and create this amazing hair studio in Astoria. Being quite picky about who cuts my hair, I can say that I truly enjoy her style and feel fully comfortable with her. She listens her clients and gives feedback, rather than just "doing her own thing" and get to the next customer. But she can also convince you to try new styles and even for a hair-conservative guy like me, that worked pretty well. About the studio itself, it is clean and nicely decorated. Staff is friendly and booking system is up to date. And finally here comes the most important thing: they give you free wine while waiting :) I would definitely recommend. read more

The absolute best salon in Astoria by far! Tina is magic. I've been doing basic color and beautiful cuts with her for a while now, but today we did a more complex balayage and it was absolutely gorgeous! She is a master at her craft and you can trust her with any request. I couldn't articulate exactly what I wanted but she asked questions and basically read my mind. I left extremely happy. The entire staff is always professional and gracious, I've also seen Vesna before and she was also wonderful. Make sure you book an appointment, you could not ask for a better experience and you will not regret it! read more

I recently moved to Astoria and have been dying for a hair cut. Simple layering and a trim. After reading reviews I chose Studio Tim and I'm leaving extremely satisfied!! I've had tragic hair cuts in the past when looking for a new salon and am alway cautious these days. Milan was my stylist and he's listened and did exactly what I asked, as well as a PERFECT blow out, exactly the way I like it. I find that it's been hard to find a good stylist in the city no matter the price and I got exactly what I was looking for here. Will defiantly be back! PS their assistant gave the absolute best head and neck massage, I would come back just for that! read more

I've traveled from west to east, and there's no better stylist then Milan. He has great attention to detail and composition, especially with short haircut. Milan understands the idea of the customer and provides the suggestions that customers are very satisfied with. For me, It's worth flying over from Midwest once a month. I'm very happy that Milan and Tina opened up their own salon, it's been pleasure to see Milan advance his career through last 3 years and I am very excited to see what's next to come! read more

The hair wash is one of my favorite parts. I've gone to Tina and Milan & both understand how to cut Asian hair well!

I've lived in NYC for 13 years and for a long time I was a "Manhattan" hair salon girl. I've also bounced around several places in Astoria but I never found a place where I wanted to become a loyal customer. All that changed with Pedja and Studio Tim. I have big, loosely curly (somewhere between 2b and 3a depending on the day/weather) and I am VERY VERY picky about how handles my hair. I booked an appointment with Pedja and he understood exactly the style and length I had in mind with the first five minutes of our consultation. He has a passion and an unsurpassed skill for creating an amazing look. He is also laid back, mellow and very easy to talk to. I am a big introvert so I can sometimes get nervous around people but there were no awkward silences and he was great about checking in with me the whole time. The finished look was EXCELLENT. Studio Tim is a true neighborhood salon with an upscale feel. I truly believe you get what you pay for, and the prices are fair for the end result. It was seriously the best haircut I have ever had in NYC, for under $100 including tax and tip. Studio Tim, I can't wait to come back. Thank you for giving me such a fresh, modern summer cut. read more

Love the personal touch. Dan has been my stylist for many years. I am grateful to receive his professional service.

Finally a place where hairdressers know how to cut hair! Tina and Vesna are true experts! You don't need to tell them what to do. Just sit and relax. I had my hair totally burnt by a very expensive nearby salon and I am in process to have it repaired by the magic hands of these great artists! I won't go anywhere else to get my hair done from now on. Thank you ladies. read more

I was scared to try a new salon as I've been loyal to my hairdresser since I was 13, however since moving to Astoria it's a schlep to go to Long Island for a 4+ hour hair appt so I took a chance on Studio TIM and I am extremely pleasantly surprised! I wanted my balayage cooled down, more ashy and less brassy. When I showed Milan the pictures of my goals I was strongly warned my hair would likely not be very close to these photos due to my base color and the coloring I already had done, but he would try his best. When he started blow drying my hair I was shocked at how blonde and more importantly, how ashy and almost silvery, it came out. As he continued to blow it out you could clearly tell it was just as ashy all over, including my darker base. It was absolutely stunning and even better than I imagined! The only reason I deducted one star is that even with a new customer discount, the cut, color and toner was more expensive than I'd anticipated based on the price that was quoted when I made the appointment on their website ($260 when it came out to $297). I think they had to add the toner, and possibly charged more for the color because my hair is so thick and long, so I wasn't totally shocked. Hopefully this will last a long time and I'll only need a toner every few months to keep the brassiness at bay. Overall very good experience, it's a very cool looking space and they have water, coffee and even wine if that's your thing. The staff is really friendly and accommodating as well! read more

great ambience and service. Staff is very proffesional. I would definately recommend.

I was able to easily book online for a same day appointment. I originally booked with Tina but when I arrived she was very behind, like at least 45 minutes behind. Pedja was available so he did my cut instead. He was super nice and did a great job cutting off my long scraggly lockdown split ends while still keeping a good amount of length and doing a great blowout. I couldn't be happier! There were five people in the salon total and it all seemed nicely spaced out, clean and safe. Next cut, I'll book with Pedja! read more

I did a color which didn't even change anything on my hair. They also charged me extra without telling ahead of time. They don't honor their own words or the appintment they give you. I always look to find a good hair salon that I can trust. I was sort of happy after the first visit (depite the steep price) fter moving to Astoria so I kept going back. Although only Tina's work was good and last time I went there another stylist screwed up my hair. I made an appointment, in person, for my girlfriend (for the following day). Vanessa asked me if she's a new customer, and I confirmed with her the price (which included the 20% discount since she was a new customer). The next day when she went there they refused her and charged her full price. Tina said: "The 20% was only for the first year and we don't have that any more." Well Tina, it says right there on the Yelp webpage; Also, Vanessa confirmed it the day before. Very good management and customer relationship style! Way to lose a loyal customer. I can get a decent hair cut for $35 many other palces. PS: They don't honor the 20%. PS: when I asked for an appointment, I reserved for a haircut "medium". When I look at the text I got, they booked the "long" haircut which is $10 more expensive. read more
