[Appointment]: Visitors must call to schedule an appointment. My session started 15 minutes after my scheduled time as my stylist was busy dyeing hair for another client. [Price]: $35 for a haircut with complimentary hair wash at the end. They accept credit cards with no extra transaction fee . [Experience]: My stylist Connie did a good job. I showed her a picture of a taper fade hairstyle I was looking for and she was able to replicate the hairstyle without any issues. The process started with a haircut, followed by a hair wash, and finished with a light touch of gel. No TVs here. [Conclusion]: I would come back here again, but it would be better if they posted their haircut prices on the wall.

Thank you Nikki and Joe for working on me for 5-6 hours to get this done. Honestly, I almost feel bad because Nikki would explain to me the process in detail and I would be clueless and just nodding my head since this was my first time and I got no clue about being blonde along with the technical terms included in the process of doing it. She knew this and changed her way of explaining so that I could understand it better. Haha. Things I learned was 1 close my eyes when they're rinsing off the bleach, 2 also close my eyes when I'm on the dryer with the bleach and 3 take all the stretch breaks that's offered. There's always a first time for everyone. The results were amazing!! I was nervous, scared and excited because it was a big change but also I didn't know if the color was gonna match me. She assured me that it would look great and it takes a lot to say something like that because that just meant that she knew what she was doing and it was true. Experience was great! She also fixed my chunky haircut and made it more streamlined which ultimately shaped it up to look amazing. We also did a trial run of curls to see how long it would hold if I decided to get it done a day before my nurse graduation this month. Not to mention they're so eager to help out with your progress shots too. Thank you so much!! Will definitely be back in the future. :)

My experience at this salon was a literal nightmare. Since it was my first time here, I brought in…read morepictures of what I like and don't like. I have cool blonde highlights blended over my natural medium brown base. I showed the owner pictures of what my hair looks like freshly done, and old pictures of myself where a stylist had first lightened my base and then done stripy highlights on top. I told the owner whatever he did, to please not change my base color because I always end up looking orange and that I hate 'stripy' highlights so to please blend them so that there were no detectable lines. He told me he hated orange hair and that he would make my hair look fabulous but he wanted to lighten the base and make my hair 'not so one color'. I nervously agreed because he does my friends hair and she looks great. I walked out of there with rust colored hair and orange stripy highlights. I was too stunned to say anything to them so I just smiled, payed and left. I was so upset when I got home and frantic about what to do about my hair because I looked totally comical. My son encouraged me to call them and nicely explain that my hair came out orange and the highlights somehow didnt get blended. I am very shy and don't like to talk on the phone but there was no way I could stay like this so I called. The owner, Evo, seemed mildly annoyed and muttered something about how I didn't know what I was talking about but maybe he could see me later in the week. I said I couldn't wait that long because I needed to leave the house and I couldn't be seen looking like this. He told me to come in at 4:00. I thanked him and hung up. 5 minutes later I received a call from his daughter, Sandra. She said Evo wouldn't redo my hair b/c they've been doing hair for 30 years and have never had a complaint; but that she would give me back my money. I said that was fine. We came by and I sent my son into the salon with my phone, i.d., digital signature (on my phone) and a signed written note that I gave him permission to accept the refund. She refused to give my son the money and said I had to come in and get it myself. (She knew it was my son because both she and Evo had seen his picture on my phone.) I called my bank and asked them if she could legally do this. They said she couldn't, and that if she didn't give him the money, to call the police. My son went back into the salon and tried again and again she refused. He told her he didn't understand why she wouldn't give him the money when she clearly knew he was my son, and she said she could do what she wanted and it was her decision. My son told her I was going to call the police and she said that I'd get nowhere because she's bffs with the head of the department. Then for good measure, she said, 'If she calls the police, I'm going to tell them you were jaywalking.' Omg that scared us so bad, lol. Long story short (well not really), the police arrive and made her hand over the money. She became hysterical and said she had no idea who I was and I needed to take off my hat and glasses. They told her to be quiet and that I didn't need to do anything. She tried to protest that I wasn't the girl who had been there the day before, but I had given them my i.d. and they had run my license plate so that didn't work out for her either. They again told her to be quiet (she was shouting obscenities and telling me I was psychotic) and give me my money. Surprisingly, she only shorted me 10 bucks. I now know why this place only takes cash. My son later told me the owner had been pleading with her to just give him the money and stop making such a commotion. On the way home, we stopped off at a local hair supply store and I showed the owner a picture of my normal hair color (that I had on my phone) and asked her if there was anything I could do to fix the rust/orange monstrosity that was once beautiful blonde locks. She was totally floored that a professional hair stylist had done such a shoddy job and said that my hair looked like someone had just stopped half way through. An incredibly traumatic day and experience. And I still have rust colored hair with orange stripes. I look like a freak show.

Decoding Style The…read moresalon name immediately grabbed my attention: What exactly does DNA do? Such a scientific-sounding name has a familial connection: Owners Dave and Amy (D-n-A) function as a "double helix" of sorts, a DNA duo or nuclear pairing that passes unique "style" (they're also the co-parents of two adorable children), but also functions as a single "salon" structure. A double helix even looks like a twisted strand of hair, or braid, making this salon name a genius symbol and apt metaphor for serious style! And So Cal style is what Studio DNA is all about. Dave and Amy recently opened their beautiful style suite in the Sola Salons in Torrance, and it is now my favorite salon/studio in the local Redondo/Torrance area. Prices are reasonable with women's hair cuts starting at $65 (men's are an affordable $35) and single process color at $65 and up. My keratin treatment and full blonde highlights made my personal style sequence even more stellar by receiving fifty percent off as a new client. Studio DNA is pure genius!
