First, hard to find and second, unless the proprietor is there, you are forced to wait out in the parking lot until she shows up. Myself and 3 of my friends found this perfect little place to celebrate one of the girls birthday! We got a massage and facial and it was AMAZING! So peaceful inside, very clean and the ladies that work there are so sweet and very professional. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I have a little knee problem and the ladies were very attentive to caring for it. They can only do two people at a time but there is a seating area outside so time passed by quickly. This is the second time where I have to reschedule an appointment with this place. No one ever answers the phone even if you leave a message with a call back number. I received a text and email reminding me about my appointment yesterday for today. I showed up on time. Rang the door bell and knocked. No one answered. It wasn't open. I left 2 voice mails and still waited about 45 mins in the parking lot in hope someone would answer. It came to the point I called living social for a refund and they are awesome and complied with my request. As far as studio spa, they have the worst customer service. I went not knowing what to expect from a Thai massage. I felt 100 times better, relaxed, and focused. The staff are professional, experienced and always with a smile. This salon by far is what everyone should experience. It's not a shady massage place rather the opposite. Studio Spa is the only place to go when you need to pamper yourself. I was visiting San Diego a few weeks ago and ran into this jem. I needed to get my upper lips threaded since I was going to be out in the sun for a few days. I've gotten my upper lip threaded back home and even though it stings, it's well worth it. I made a stop at Studio Spa and was quickly greeted by the owner, Vina. I told her that I need to get my upper lips threaded and she saw me right away. The whole procedure was no more than 10 minutes. When I get this procedure done back home, I normally get little bumps but did not experience this with Vina. Must be the natural ingredients she uses! The location happens to be very close to where I live but I have to say it's kind of in a strange place and could be decorated better. On the other hand I got a great education from the owner Valerie about skin care products before she even started the facial. Then the facial itself was very soothing. I had never had my face wrapped before like she wrapped it. The steam was a little annoying because it kept going up my nose but she moved it so it stopped doing that. She also cleaned out a pore and told me that pore will never have gunk in it again!!! My skin felt so smooth and silky afterwards. I still feel the effects of it several days later. I really liked that Valerie asked me in detail about my skin care regime and any skin concerns that I might have. She explained the products that she uses to make sure that I did not have any allergic reaction concerns, etc. She also explained her massage technique and would ask me how the massage pressure was. Had a living social deal, Swedish massage for $50.00. Easy to book the appointment, hard place to find. My massage therapist was in a bad mood, felt like she just wanted to get it over with. Never asked me how the pressure was. At the end of the session, she just said "Your session is over, meet you out front". I am used to the therapist ensuring I am ok, telling me to relax, take my time getting up and making feel comfortable. Tiny and cramped waiting area. She asked about my skin care routine and I was bracing but wow, no hard sales for anything and even gave advice on products to use that you can buy at CVS. The place is clean and quiet. They don't have a receptionist so don't show up early. I saw the weird posts about feeling sketchy being alone in the parking lot but hello, you're in the parking lot for the Coco's and about 20 other businesses? I purchased a groupon coupon to try this spa out since it is close to my house and it looked like it would be great. Especially since I love Thai Massage. Unfortunately, I put the appoiintmnet down in my book on Tuesday and when I called to confirm on Monday for 2:00 they told me it was for today. So Whether it was just an error in communication on my part or not they should have honored it and rescheduled. I am not opposed to paying a cancellation fee which most places do charge 10 or 20 dollars. They told me that is was considered redeemed and they could give me a facial for 10 dollars more. They are not rated high on their facials so I refused the substitution. I have lost $35.00 and they have lost a potential new customer since I often get massages. I would not recommend any place that does business this way and tries to switch services on the customer rather than try to work something out that works for both parties. I am very unhappy about this since I was looking forward to much needed massage. read more

I called and we had to reschedule the appointment. I was a bit apprehensive about my next appointment. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Valerie did an awesome job. This was my first massage in a while but in the past I have had quite a few. Sharon is the one who did my massage and it was excellent! She really hit the spots that I needed her to and anywhere she had felt needed a little more work she concentrated on (my upper back and shoulders). You really cant beat the price for a 1 hour it was only $35 (they have a special going on). The spa is very clean and relaxing. Ok, this place is interesting, but don't knock it until you try it. Yes, it is in a pretty sketchy location, and inside is kind of ghetto, but once you get past that (and the personality of the frontdesk girl/masseuse) it was pretty darn good, especially for the price I paid (normally $54 but I got 20% off during a groupon sale), considering it worked out to be just over $20 each for the 1 hour facial and massage. Ok, so, yes, the door was locked, but once you're inside you will actually appreciate that, because it is sketchy outside. They opened the door right away, and yes the front desk girl was kind of weird, asking me random questions and kind of out of it, but oh well. Also, I had the WHOLE place to myself on a friday at 4pm so no noise concerns. We started at 4:10 (appointment was at 4) due to paperwork, but she gave me a FULL hour massage. I told her the points that needed work and she worked on them. Was it the best massage ever? No, but it was pretty good. She did have some weird techniques, and it was a bit painful at times, but I came out feeling a lot better and for $20 can I really complain? They do ask you to undress for the massage, and then afterwards they just had me stay there and moved equipment in and the next girl starting working on my face. A little weird, and yes I had to wait, but I was nice and relaxed and it was nice to just stay put. The only thing I didn't like about the facial was the steam that was constantly blown onto your face, it definately felt suffocating at times, but DANG this was one of the best facials I've ever had!! She did interrogate me a bit about my skin, but it was kind of nice for her to seem so concerned and then tailor a facial exactly to my needs. She used the steam to open things up, then brushed on a mask, let it sit, scrubbed it with some exfoliator, took it off, then put a moisturizing treatment on, some guaze, and then some oatmeal to let it really soak in. This was actually a little scary, with my face completely covered and the steam still going, but I could FEEL it working! She took that off and put some moisturizer, serum, and a toner on. WOW!! Again, for $20, I can't complain at all! Also, she only left one time, and that was to get some hot towels to wrap around my face and take the treatment off. Also, the facial was a full hour as well, despite it meaning they went "over" the designated appointment time, so kudos for that!! So, all in all, this place was a definate win for me. It sounds like some people have had issues so I was pretty wary going in, but honestly it was worth every penny and more, and even if they hadn't come through for me, groupon is amazing about refunds so I would recommend buying a groupon and giving them a shot! read more

Love love love how my skin feels! Had a great facial yesterday that really made my skin look healthy. It is a bummer that you have to wait in the parking lot until your appointment time, but I just sat in my car. She got there a few minutes before my appointment was suppose to start. Anyway, what I liked most about this place is she didn't try to sell me over priced lotions and cleansers like so many of the spas do now. She told me about some products I could buy at CVS that would be right for me. Then my facial lasted about an hour and 45 min. She did the works and even threw in an extraction. She removed a blemish not even my dermatologist could get. Her products are natural and she told me about some things I could buy at the grocery store that could help my skin. I would prefer to give this business zero stars to match the zero services they provided me. My husband purchased a Groupon for me to get two hours of relaxing spa services following my unexpected C-section when our daughter was born. I called the number listed on the Groupon and discovered it had been disconnected. I went on Studio Spa's website and found another phone number listed. I called and left multiple voicemails (by the way, there was no outgoing voicemail so I had to assume it was the correct number for the Spa) that were never returned. I discovered that I could make a reservation online. I received an email confirming my appointment, to which I responded to make sure I could use my Groupon for the appointment. I did not receive an email back. Two days before the scheduled appointment I received an email that my reservation was cancelled and there was no phone number listed. Again, I responded to this email in hope of reaching someone. No one responded. I went back to their website to attempt to reschedule and there were no appointments available in the foreseeable future. Not to mention my Groupon would be expiring a short time later. I contacted Groupon and they issued me a refund (thank you, Groupon!). They might have great services but one would never know. What a disappointment. read more

I am 100% confused by all the 5 star ratings. Perhaps these yelpers have never been to a true spa. Based on the website and prices of the services, we were anticipating a much nicer, much chicer experience. I've paid the same amount for facials and massage services at establishments that are far more sophisticated. We booked the couples facial/massage package from a social website, the actual treatments were very nice. My "eek! Methinks not" is due to the overall experience. We arrived at the scheduled time and rang the bell, waited for a bit, and a woman answered the door half asleep with pillow marks all over her face and was extremely disoriented. My bf thought she was on drugs, but it seems like she'd just been abruptly woken up from a nap. The building is very old and run down, and appears more like a make shift spa than a true spa experience. After an extremely long consultation with the esthetician in a very small, cramped room (we shared a tiny bench to sit on), we were lead to our treatment "area." There are no treatment rooms here, everything is sectioned off by heavy drapes so it's not very private at all. We waiting for at least 15 minutes before our esthetician and massage therapist came back. They informed us we should relax and they would switch places after each service to ensure our relaxation was not interrupted. However, it was, repeatedly. The walls are paper thin so you can hear cars and motorcycles zipping by. The esthetician's cell phone rang multiple times, she asked my BF if he wanted to get that, not realizing it was her phone. Then she actually got up and left in the middle of the service to take the call! Towards the end of our treatments there was a knock at the door, and again, the esthetician got up to answer the door and take care of the next customer. Overall the experience was extremely low quality and not well executed. I would not recommend this place, you can get higher quality treatments and experience for the same cost at a LOT of other places. read more
