We had a blast at our bachelorette party chair dance class with Tracy! She was so fun and broke the dance down so it was easy enough to learn. She had great music options but let us pick whatever we wanted to dance to also. The studio is nice, and there's free parking. Perfect for bachelorette or birthday parties, or even just for fun! Would definitely go back for more classes in the future!

The "Intro to Pole" is recommended for newcomers, so I bravely signed up for the Monday 8pm class and showed up!

I started dancing in high school and fell in love with the art of dance and choreography in…read morecollege. Although I am not the best dancer in the world, It is truly my passion and I love to learn! Artisan is really the only studio in the area that has affordable, drop-in friendly adult classes. Been going off and on since around 2016 and there are lots of class offerings in all styles on evenings and weekends to try. If you want to work on technique or be helped by the instructor, make sure you start with the "absolute beginner" offerings because most of the classes are choreo based and are fast paced. Don't know what I would do without Artisan! It has been key to helping me re-visit my passion for dance and give me opportunities that I thought would be lost after college!

My roommate and I have always wanted to take hip hop dance classes, but were never really sure…read morewhere we could take them that was low stakes and relatively inexpensive. Artisan is that place. Not only do they have an awesome new-member deal ($30 for 30 days of unlimited classes), but they have a wide variety of beginner classes that you can either sign up for ahead of time, or just drop in! I agree with a sentiment expressed by a classmate during my last class at Artisan: "This is the best place in Columbus for beginner level, adult dance classes." Because of the awesome deal, we decided to try a variety of different dance classes: hip hop, contemporary, ballet, heels, and jazz! All of them were great! Though each style of dance is different, each beginner class is formatted the same: a warm up at the beginning, followed by a choreographed routine. The teacher picks a song ahead of time and then breaks down the choreography throughout class into easily-digested chunks. The classes move at whatever pace the participants dictate and typically end with a group performance of the routine. Overall, I cannot believe what an awesome find this was! I would absolutely recommended Artisan to others.

Took one of their Intro to Pole classes. As a plus-sized human, I was pretty scared, but there was…read moreno reason to be. This is a very body-positive studio. Intro to Pole class features a wide variety of stuff, and it's just there to help you figure out if pole is for you - and if so, what type of things would be fun for you. It's there to be a fun social activity, and it is NOT designed as a "push yourself" cardio or strength training class. (They have other classes for that) The class starts with some stretching and a tiny bit of simple strength training. The instructor is great about providing modifications - including how to make it harder and easier. At no point is the instructor going around trying to "correct" people, so if something isn't doing it for you, you can do it your own way or just sit out for a sec. You'll then go into being taught some various ways to interact with the pole including plain, sexy walks as well as a bit of twirls. There are a few moves shown that put you on the pole itself, but it's not a huge deal if you can't get onto the pole either. After the playtime, you'll then spend some time learning a short choreography routine. Again, the instructor provided ways to make the choreography harder or easier, and when she saw that I was struggling with a certain part, she instructed the class about a separate way to do what we were doing to get the same results without singling me out. The choreography focused a lot on getting to know the pole - and enjoying the fun of playing with pole - without being cardio or physically intensive. It was fun! To end the class, we switched the poles from static to spinning and tried the pole while in spinning mode to see how it was different. It is worth noting that the establishment only has 7-ish poles (somewhere in that range; I forgot the exact), so it's a small class of only a few people. And the studio is surrounded on every available surface area with mirrors. You won't be able to get "lost in the crowd" on this one. I'd say it feels like an intimate, small-business studio rather than a giant space. Regardless, I felt welcomed the entire time, feel pretty excited to go back for more classes, and loved the experience. Basil was a fantastic instructor and the entire studio felt very welcoming.

I have learned some cool tricks here and the atmosphere is family-like. It's my favorite place to…read morego for a good pick me up.
