I really wanted to like my experience at TIGI, the student who worked on my hair was so sweet and…read moreunderstanding. However my cut ended up extremely choppy, unblended, and had gaps that were especially noticeable when I wore my hair naturally. The right techniques had not been used and I would have preferred if the student had asked for help if they were stuck on what to do. I now have to go in every month or so to get my hair trimmed to prevent breakage and had to have multiple stylists assess my hair to see how it could be fixed. I also asked for a balayage, not a highlight, I was not looking for anything streaky. I checked with the student prior to see if that would be achievable. Unfortunately the result was much more uneven, patchy, and streaky than I was hoping for. The color also seemed to be lifted far beyond what was necessary to for the look I wanted. I came in with dulled dark brown box dye and hoping to add some brunette dimension not blonde. I didnt expect perfection, just a blended result but my hair needed to be retoned and was streaky and patchy in certain areas. My ends are damaged and overprocessed, and there are a few chunks of straight blonde. My hair was also extremely roughly from roots to ends which led to my head being tugged and a sore scalp. My biggest issue was with the instructor who I felt dismissed my concerns and said the color looked just like my inspiration photos. Although my base color was not exactly the same as the photos, I clearly stated I did NOT want to be blonde and my hair was nowhere near the intended shade. This review isn't about blaming the student, who was extremely kind, did her best, and was so understanding. The students here just need better and closer supervision and instructors who are more open to client concerns to prevent results like this.

I never thought I was capable of learning as much as I did in such a short period of time. It has been a journey I could never forget, a journey that I have come close to throwing away numerous times. It's an amazing feeling having someone know your potential in the field way before you do. They say only God knows what the future holds, but my Ms. Green has shown me the light leading to the future numerous times and in numerous different ways. I'm so thankful to have someone that knows just about everything in this field and knows a solution to every problem. As I prepare for my state boards, I will hear Ms. Green's voice in the back of my head with every question, not only explaining why one answer is correct, but also why the rest are not. As I prepare to be pushed it to the real world of this industry, I will keep in mind I will not be alone because I know I have a teacher to call on through everything. You are not only an amazing stylist, you are an amazing mentor, and amazing person, an amazing leader, and most importantly a strong woman that has molded numerous other amazing stylist to be their OWN stylist. I can not express what an honor it is to have you in my life. You have made my experience worthwhile at Marinello, and any student who will enroll here whose main focus is their future, will understand the value and magnitude of your teaching and knowledge from beauty to the hard truths of life. Thank you for allowing me to see my worth and being patient with the mistakes I have made and will make.

After doing some research I decided to tour this school with the intention of joining that fall…read more But after the interview I realized that this will not work for me. The school is great and the program seems to be covering a lot of essential subjects. The only problem was that they use tons of essential oils in their skincare and it has to be used on my skin during the course. Any dermatologist will tell you that fragrant essential oils are very bad for skin. It is setting you up for a potential for allergic reactions or sensitizing your skin to UV rays. The source of the essential oils do not matter at all. They are still volatile ingredients. Especially for someone with reactive skin that is definitely not a good idea. When someone has allergy prone skin the source does not matter. It is better to avoid such ingredients. All fragrance whether it is "natural" or synthetic is bad for skin. Fragrance has no place in skincare. Even when using a natural ingredient there are always side effects with volatile ingredients. Lot of people use fragrance and essential oils with no issues. That is not the case with everyone. Dermatologists say that even if you do not seem to be reacting to it immediately there is a higher chance of irritation down the road. I also cannot tolerate scented products. I am very sensitive to scents. For all these reasons, I could not join this school. Seemed like great teachers and a great curriculum otherwise.

Yes, facials are provided cheaper here because IT IS A SCHOOL. Your students PAY tuition and work for FREE and use my face as their guinea pig. If anyones taking anything in the face it's me!!! And where in the fine print does it say that I'm obligated to purchase product? I don't see anything hanging on the front door nor did I sign a contract. Honest Review from ex nail tech student . Yes I did actually UNFORTUNATELY attend this school. They…read moreadministrators don't care about the students or if they even learn anything. The nail technician kit was basic and overpriced ofcourse in the tuition. In the end you have to buy more quality supplies. On my first day the teacher, Mrs.Roxy was annoyed that I was beginning my course and she didn't even bother interacting with me. She just made me read for 4 hours. I was there for 8 hours (two classes back to back). Only one teacher was kind to me Mrs.Cristal. She actually knows how to teach, and has a full understanding of the book, she is truly knowledgeable and talented. Anything you asked her, she easily answered. Mrs. Viri, who was a previous teacher years ago but came back during my time there, doesn't even know anything and doesn't bother correcting your errors. The current "Teacher" Silvia? Isn't even an actual teacher. She was a fellow student who would cry in class, couldn't understand the theory aspect of it and ofcourse because Mrs.Viri was her teacher who became her friend, she let her pass and do exams multiple times and never actually even learned how to properly do nails. You'll never actually get a teacher who knows if you go during Spanish classes. Ms.Yazbelle is a good teacher but only teaches in English if you're able to go, but the other two Mrs.Viri and Silvia will only "teach" you in Spanish, but like I said you won't actually learn anything. Often times as well you'll be left alone in class and have the cosmo teacher there. They don't care if you learn, they're there to let you clock in those hours cause it's money for them. If you complain they'll be rude to you. They also treat certain teachers bad. Low pay for the teachers that's why most don't care to teach you anything.1 ALSO ITS IN BRIDGEPORT! So if that doesn't scream RED FLAG to you I don't know what will. When I'd attend night classes it was awfully scary, drunken drug addicts outside, I feared for my life honestly. Especially for my teacher because the receptionist and owner would leave, as long as they're getting paid they don't care about the safety of their students or teachers. I only attended to get my license as I learned abroad how to properly do nails. So if you're going here to actually learn don't waste your time and do your research for a better school.
