I didn't think to ask for a refund because it states that the packages are non refundable when purchasing, but I am happy that she remedied my situation. I thought I would update my review to reflect her positive customer service and although I would have loved to use the package she made it right. I purchased a class package last year after having a baby and having had a lot of Pilates experience I was really disappointed to find that I couldn't attend certain classes unless I had attended their basic classes first. Normally that wouldn't have been an issue but they only offered those classes at a certain time of day and it was only offered one day a week and I was not able to attend. When covid 19 hit they obviously closed but now they are requiring customers buy and bring their own equipment. I wish I wouldn't have bought a package with this studio as now I have spent $200+ on classes I will never use. read more

I signed up for their free Pilates 101 class to go with my sister, I'm not a huge fan of exercise classes but went to support her. I highly recommend this place in the intro they educated us on our muscles we we ours be working and would demonstrate the and then have the class try walking around helping as needed. This helped me to feel comfortable in what I was doing and in the studio. read more

Studio one has a nice atmosphere and great instructors. Results can definitely be seen and felt if you put in the work! My one complaint about the studio is the schedule. It does not accommodate those who like late evening classes. The latest class is usually at 6:30pm on weekdays. I would love a 7 or 8 o'clock option everyday! Also, the studio does not offer regular afternoon or evening classes on Saturdays or ANY classes on Sundays! It really feels like the schedule caters to an older crowd. read more

Studio One Pilates is an amazing place! I first came to Studio One after years of back pain resulting from various athletic injuries and car accidents. I started of by going to the Back and Body boot camp was three nights a week for 5 weeks. It was like nothing i had ever tried. It was all about breathing and connecting your body and using muscles I didn't even know existed. Everyone there is absolutely amazing. Paul (the owner) is great and very knowledgeable, which is good for those of you who have injuries or pain and want to know how to not. The Rolfers (I saw Ed and Eric) are top notch and 10 sessions with them (while expensive) will help put your body back together again. Then of course there are the instructors, each one with their own unique and wonderful personalities. Jenni, Jamie, and Jessica S. are the three ladies who never fail to kick my butt and make me laugh at the same time. Honestly, a huge draw to this studio is the people. I was definitely resistant to the whole Pilates thing, but now, almost a year and half later, consider me a convert and fan! I love it. I did three boot camps back-to-back and then transitioned to the core and level one matt classes, and now I do level two classes about three times a week, and I I'm definitely in the best shape I've been since I was a top athlete as a teen; with the help of Pilates, the gym, and eating healthy I have already lost 30 pounds. The strength and flexibility I have gained from Pilates has allowed me to get back into sports. I'm now able to go cross-country skiing, play hockey, run, etc. I still have a ways to go, and Studio One is helping me reach my goals. read more

Pilates has always been one of my favorite workouts, and Studio One provides a wonderful outlet for it in Anchorage! The prices are fantastic, AT MOST you're paying $25 for a small group class, but usually they have sales or promos going on that allow you to budget even further. If you are a member or regular attendee then you get to attend 30-ish minute cardio burst classes for free, which are tons of fun and a great way to supplement your pilates classes. The instructors are all friendly and knowledgeable. If you even remotely think you'd like to check out pilates, Studio One is a low commitment and fun way to do it. read more

I was a member of this gym in 2014 and I just wanted to say that since I've left AK, I've thought about this place a lot. This is the only pilates studio that teaches correct form & really explains the method to you while trying to lengthen & strengthen your body. Studio One is in one word AMAZING. It has everything you could need, and all the comfort you could want in a place of exercise. The facilities are everything you would expect from a studio; clean and organized, spaced out enough so you do not feel like everyone passing by is watching you as you exercise, and best of all it doesn't have all of the "buy this item so you can be better" nonsense that I had often seen in studios down in Los Angeles. Studio One just doesn't need the pretensions, you know you are getting way more than you are paying for in all the best places without a fancy pair of workout pants. All of the instructors are extremely helpful and understanding. They do not expect you to be an expert at Pilates from the moment you walk in the studio, and no one ever looked down their nose at me because I don't look like the "type" who enjoys exercise such as Pilates. There are a variety of classes and workshops offered for all levels of experience so you never have to walk into a class feeling intimidated, or like you are going to embarrass yourself. I once took a class that was well beyond my level and not only was the instructor understanding, but everyone else in the class was encouraging as well! The programs offered by Studio One are extremely effective, and are presented in such a way that you begin to understand what each movement is about, how they are important to your body and your core, and really help you form a connection and integrate all of the parts of your body in a meaningful way. I have lived in Los Angeles, where you would expect some of the best studios to be located, but after Studio One I realized that I was only going through the motions of Pilates. I was only at the studios in Los Angeles for them to give me a shadow of the meaning and function behind what a real Pilates workout consists of, and for them to take my money leaving me with little more than an obligatory feeling that I had to attend the classes because I had already paid for them. I have never felt this way about Studio One. At Studio One I have enjoyed not only the physical results of my body, but the results of a whole new outlook about my body. I enjoy the instructors, enjoy the people in the classes, and most importantly I enjoy the exercise. And let's face it, everyone would pay out tons and tons of money to have the best body and feel great about it, but Studio One is ridiculously cheap compared to some of the prices I've seen. The best prices for the best workouts you could ask for anywhere in the world. I just feel bad for all those women I took classes with in LA, they're never going to know that those classes they all thought were so wonderful are nothing compared to what you can get at Studio One in Anchorage, Alaska. read more

So, I'm not a client of Studio One Pilates, I'm a total raging fan. I first came to the studio about 2 and half years ago cuz my friend wouldn't shut up about how amazing it was. It took me as long as it did because once before I took a Pilates class at the gym I used to go to and it was a total waste of time. And then I decided to try it out to get her to leave me alone. I used to have back pains especially in the lower back, where every night when I lay down in bed I had a few minutes of really sharp pain in my lower back, I'm sure I'm not alone in that, kind of a feeling where you run around all day and then relax and your back hurts. So, after the very first class, that same day it was gone. Not only that, the area that used to hurt felt very relaxed and stretched out, so I knew it worked. I also had posture problems where I'd slouch and it also helped with that. And what I love the best is that not only is it a great exercise but you also feel like you've had a full body massage after each class. At least I do. The instructors are amazing, the studio itself has a great energy because everyone who works here love what they do and it shows. After 2 weeks of classes I lost 3,3/4 inches off my lower and upper waist, and my "before and after" videos are amazing. My whole torso became loner and slimmer. The results that I got are: slimmer taller body, my butt lifted up and looks amazing:) open shoulders, AMAZING body awareness and ease of movement. Also through the studio I got introduced to holistic health care professionals and lost (since last mid july) around t 20 pounds. I was 167 and now I'm 146 and still loosing. This was done without any crazy diet regime or intense exercise. I'm 5'7 tall so it a great weight for me. If you have any type of body pain, want to improve your posture get more definition and feel better I would highly recommend you check it out! read more

The teachers at Studio One are all pros. You can get a total workout in 50 minutes to an hour when at other studios you go for 90 minutes without a feeling of a good workout. Another Pilates principle, concentration, helps you fully commit to each exercise. The coordinated breathing helps to reduce stress. You target your oblique muscles and strengthen your shoulders and arms. You get as much out of Pilates and Reformer as you put into it with professional caring instructors to help you. Feel good from the inside out! That's what you'll accomplish at Studio One Pilates and for a very affordable price unlike most pilates studios. I have scoliosis in my spine and developed poor posture from hunkering over a computer at my desk job which caused some low back and neck pain. What I learned at Studio One Pilates is that your body can learn any pattern, so the good news is with Pilates your body can learn a much healthier and better looking pattern! Pilates eliminated my back and neck pain and gave me the core strength to support my spine and torso properly. I also like to rock climb and pilates gave me better strength, balance and flexibility. It's great cross training for any sport as it builds strength where you might be weak and otherwise injure yourself. I love the teaching philosophy at Studio One. They're teaching you to be in tune with your body's movement so you can understand what healthy movement is and how to support yourself and over time modify some of your patterns. I enjoy that the classes are educational and not just an instructor counting off exercises. My brain gets a workout too! The instructors are always taking classes and learning new methods, so the workouts are always fresh. If you have any kind of body pain, are an athlete looking to maintain your body for the long haul, or you're just looking for great exercise, I highly recommend Studio One Pilates. This August I will be with Studio One for 5 years. I started with the two week Boot Camp program in 2005. This place is world class. I feel privileged to have such expertise right here in Anchorage. The owner, Paul is very hands on, along with his entire staff. I just simply can't say enough good things about them all. They are constantly learning and developing and evolving as a studio. It's been great to watch and participate and evolve with them. This studio is for EVERY level. All ages. Yes, you do have to go through some sort of introduction before walking into classes. But don't be deterred, it's worth it. They really do have something to teach you before letting you lose into the studio. Studio One has changed my body and changed my life. Because of Studio One Pilates I am stronger, and more healthy than at any point in my life. Oh and I look better than ever too. I even started running again last year. The prices at the studio are CHEAP in comparison to other Pilates studio's in the lower 48 I've seen. Take advantage of this place. They have rolfing at Studio One. After a car accident in 2006, I went through the Rolf 10 Series to resolve low back pain injury the Chiropractor could not seem to address. Rolfing helped so much. I've been going to Studio One Pilates 2-3 times a week for nearly seven years now. I'm hypermobile in nearly every joint of my body. When I first started, I was in a lot of pain, had a lot of injuries, and was probably going to be in a wheelchair before age 30. The instructors were incredibly patient and knowledgeable and worked with me to figure out a plan that was right for me. It's a lot different from other exercise programs: their focus on joint stability and small movements was just what I needed. I have much less pain and I injure myself less because I have better control over my body due to the exercises I learned at the studio. I have been taking pilates classes from Studio One Pilates owner, Paul, for more years than I care to count. Over the years I have seen his Pilates studio grow into an amazing, dynamic community that is focused on educating the body and mind to produce the most remarkable results possible. After having my second child I felt trapped physically and mentally and unmotivated to get back into shape. After some gentle encouragement from my friend and Studio One employee, Jen, I began taking Core level classes again. I immediately felt my confidence rise and within 3-4 classes I could see my body tightening back up.
