I love mixing the core classes with the leveled classes to gain a balance between the structural glue and muscular strength that make a body look, feel, and perform the way a body should.

I grew up in the Chicago area, and was actively trained in ballet, jazz & contemporary at my studio…read morethere until I finished college, which much to my dismay was almost 10 years ago. Dance has always been a passion of mine, and I greatly missed training in my adult life. I figured now that I live in a new state dance could be a fun way to connect me with new people who share similar interests. Upon searching for adult classes I stumbled upon Studio Pulse. They offer a wide variety of adult classes including Hip-hop, yoga, and a burlesque inspired class at their sister studio, The Annex. I was interested in their adult ballet classes, and lucky for me they were offering a 10 week series for people with ballet experience. I immediately emailed to ask about the class, and make sure I wasn't about to get my butt handed to me in front of a bunch of 16 year olds. The owner, Stephanie, was super prompt in her email reply, and let me know if I didn't feel comfortable with the skill level of the class I could drop down to the beginner course. I immediately signed up! On the first day of my 10 week series I was greeted by Stephanie, who showed me around the studio and made me feel so welcomed. Stephanie and the front desk staff are always very pleasant and friendly. They are also taking COVID precautions seriously, which shows they care about their staff and students. The studio is a really nice space with a great lounge for the young dancers to socialize in between training. Everything is clean and well maintained. The intermediate/adv adult ballet class is taught by Liz, who is an excellent ballet teacher. She is very passionate about ballet, and puts together great barre and floor work. They teach several styles of dance at this studio, and have the classes broken up by age/skill level. They also have a dance company that is on a try out basis. It seems they put on several showcases a year where the students can show off what they learn. The studio also has a lot of class variety for adult dancers of all skill levels. I am very happy I found this studio, and will be looking into taking another class series once this one ends. If my children are ever interested in dance I will definitely be enrolling them at this studio.

Stephanie the owner put out incredible free classes for use during quarantine, and now is taking sanitizing and distancing super seriously for in person classes! Check them out if you're looking for great workouts, you won't be sorry.

I asked the front desk and was told they were closing things for reupholstering, and that someone would check on the timeline and give me a call. No one ever did. I followed up--no response. I left a voicemail to the general manager directly and never heard back. Then today there was water leaking from the ceiling in the pool room by the wall. I noticed when it dripped on me and saw there was already a big puddle on the floor. There were multiple holes/cracks in the ceiling and evident water damage. I told the front desk, one person followed me to have me point it out, then left. Forty-five minutes later nothing had been done no signs, bucket, cleanup, etc despite a bunch of extra staff around for a Nordic spa event. Staff were also talking about the steam room in the locker room being down but the one in the Nordic spa was working. It really feels like all the attention is on the new Nordic spa while the rest of the facility is suffering. Overall, just really poor communication and lack of upkeep.

I recently visited the new Nordic spa at the Alaska Club East. The pools and saunas themselves were…read moreclean and well maintained, and I'm glad Anchorage has another Nordic-style spa option. However, there were several aspects of the experience that made it fall short for me, especially considering the non-member price point. The biggest issue was the changing room setup. I did not realize the spa uses the regular gym locker room rather than having a separate spa-only locker and bathroom area. There was very little privacy for changing, which really took away from the relaxing spa atmosphere. I also had no idea guests are expected to bring their own lock for the lockers. The FAQ mentions bringing sandals, but I never saw anything mentioning needing a lock. At Alyeska Nordic Spa, lockers are already provided and ready to use, so I assumed this would be similar. I wanted to change in the shower or bathroom stalls for more privacy, but both were extremely small and narrow with nowhere to hang a bag or place belongings while changing. There really needs to be a more functional and private setup for the spa. I also think the spa would benefit from a private entrance for spa guests instead of entering through the gym itself, aside from existing gym members. It would immediately make the experience feel more elevated. There also should be a bathroom directly inside the spa area so guests don't have to return through the locker room/gym spaces during their visit. Atmosphere-wise, it feels much simpler than other Nordic spas. The wood fencing around the spa is a nice natural color but doesn't create the immersive feeling of being surrounded by nature as is what a Nordic spa is all about, like how Alyeska does. My other major issue is the pricing. At $95 for 90 minutes for non-members, it feels extremely overpriced for the overall experience offered. For comparison, Alyeska Nordic Spa is around $120 for a full-day luxury experience 10am-9pm with significantly more amenities, a much more seamless setup, and a far more immersive atmosphere. I understand this is a different type of facility, but the pricing should better reflect the size, amenities, and overall experience being provided. Personally I think a non member price of $55 would have been much more reasonable. Overall, it was clean and enjoyable in some ways, but it felt more like an enjoyable outdoor pool/hot tub experience. There are definitely improvements that could make the experience feel more polished, spa like, and more worth the current cost.

**** NEGATIVE STARS!****…read more DO NOT COME TO THIS GYM* The overall experience was and still is ridiculous! The owner is a THIEF & full of excuses! The staff is clueless & needs more training, the parking is horrible, and not to mention the prices of the memberships at Alaska Fitness are super expensive and not WORTH IT! Jen (the owner) continues to steal money from my bank account! She has caused my bank account chaos with her unauthorized charges. Jen is horrible with communication and never seems to care or have time for her customers, actually I even have it in writing when she decided to email me back, she said, "I don't have time for this I am a busy woman!" - So fixing your mistake for your customer and responding to your clients is a waste of time? I couldn't believe her tone and responses in person or in email. She was unbearably rude to me. Jen also said I can take my concerns to the Better Business Bureau of Alaska. Which indeed I will with all of my documentation. Good luck if you do decide to join this gym! Expect the sauna and steam room are often out of order and are not clean, also note (tanning) is almost the price of another membership if you decide to add it on your membership just so you are aware. Also if you happen to ever have a concern that fraudulent charges are happening from AK Fitness don't expect a fast response to your emails and/or phone calls in a timely matter. Jen the owner will wait until it is too late and she will not fix the issue, she refuses to delete your CC info off of your account on her system, and it says your membership is, "cancelled" instead of following thru with the necessary steps to cancel the membership entirely! She has been wrongfully charging my credit card since October, 2018. She is unapologetic and sneaky! After recognizing these unauthorized charges coming out of my account I complained and was baffled that this was happening AGAIN. Not only does she refuse to refund my account all the months she stole from me, she decided to give me a one month gym membership for free and then shortened that by not finishing out the free one month membership. After finding out she once again charged my CC ($59.99) again this month, I reached out almost immediately and she never called me back or responded to my emails having me come into the gym to ask for her @ the front desk. Every time I called she was, "In a meeting" or not there. I am glad I went in to find a hand written unprofessional letter/note that was left for me @ the front desk by Jen, she wrote on the letter that I have a "no entry" on my account suddenly, and now she says, I "owe her" money after going to my bank to get the unauthorized charges settled and refunded to my account. I am so disappointed with her and this business, her actions have been showing nothing but shady business and unethical behavior. I want nothing to do with this gym and just want my account fixed and or cancelled in the appropriate way it should be for once and all. I recommend absolutely NO ONE to this gym, no friend, no business owners, no family, no coworkers, absolutely no one should be associated with this shady business. When I followed up with my bank they mentioned they fix fraudulent charges from this gym ALL THE TIME! How sad! ---------- NO STARS ---------- NEGATIVE STARS!

My experience with him in this facility has been very disappointing. In the initial evaluation Keith had mention insurance didn't cover TMJ issues and would have to add other issues with the neck to insure coverage. Which at the time I was having issues with my neck as well, so it made sense. By the second appointment when I started asking questions he started making very rude remarks. He saw me for about 15 minutes while he did some dry needling and when he finished, I sat in the room waiting for his assistant to come see me for the rest of the time. I was told they would e-Mail me some exercises, which I had to e-Mail to ask for them because a week later I still had not received them. This an expensive place and really lacked care. After this second session I knew I was wasting my time and money. After some time I requested my medical records from this facility and read the notes Keith wrote, that unless you request medical records you cannot see. The notes were untrue and I was in complete disbelief because Keith is suppose to be a professional provider. I contacted the facility and he never returned my call. After about 1 month 1/2 I called again and was able to speak to him. He clearly stated he "doesn't make mistakes in all of his year," and there was nothing he could do. I am appalled. I would not recommend his facility or him as a professional provider.
