I…read morefound Studio HSB on the web and went down to check it out because it was in my neighbourhood. It wasn't easy to find at first because there was only a small hand written sign on the door leading to the courtyard and because it was before 10am and no-one was there yet so I waited. Once inside, I was very impressed with the setup and the equipment available. The tech, who spoke nominal English - but enough to get by, was able to set me up with sticks and better headphones then my iPhone headphones and told me I could play longer than an hour if I wanted to. He ended up selling me the used sticks I played with for a good price, which saved me a trip to music store and I was relieved to have let off some steam. The drum room had amps and a PA set up for a jam and the kit was a sweet little jazz setup. I will be going back several times while i'm here and I highly recommend searching it out if you're visiting! *****

My review of SMOM is from a purely groupie perspective. I don't play in a band, I don't rehearse or…read morerecord here but I've spent some quality time watching people who do. What I really like about SMOM is that it has an authentic rock vibe without being cruddy, smelly or claustrophobic. It's spacious, well decorated and has friendly un-snobby staff (in addition to a good snacking selection--- always ace for a groupie!) From what I've heard their rates are very reasonable and they sometimes even give freebies when the studio is quiet. Special mention to their sound engineer Robin who did a fab job recording a mixing several songs by a group of teenagers that my husband teaches.
