I now ONLY trust Alex at Studio Ling to cut my hair, especially my bangs! No other stylist has ever managed to get the bangs right according to what I want, but Alex looks at my reference photo and gets it right. I admit that today's bangs have one slightly longer piece but we were talking a fair amount!! The first time I came here, I was confused by the parking, but from what I understand, the lot is ok if you park in the brown-marked spaces? Correct me if I'm wrong. There's also street parking. Salon is on the second floor - exit the elevator and turn right to go around the corner and it's at the next corner. Small space but they truly make it work!! read more

Got my makeup done for a wedding I was the bridesmaid in. Experience was hectic and makeup did not end up looking good in pictures. Foundation was too light and eye makeup was too heavy and poorly blended. Really disappointed and wouldn't use this place for my own wedding. read more

Alex is so amazing! I got a haircut and blowout deal for her on Groupon and it was great. You can always message her a screenshot of the deal and she will honor the price (that way she can earn the full amount no fees). She was very detailed when asking me questions for my haircut to make sure I got what I wanted. Blowout was great too, I am recommending her to all my friends! read more

On behalf of my mother who got her haircut here, this place is horrid. It is hot because the AC was broken, studio is very small, and the stylist cut hair like she just graduated cosomotology school. I genuinely don't understand how she has so many good reviews. They can't be real. Worst part is, her customer service was passive aggressive and lacking. Price for a haircut was extremely expensive and she charges even more for long hair. So shady and not worth it. We will not be returning. read more

I got another haircut from Alex and she killed it again!! She really does a great job at achieving whatever you ask for. I love love love my haircut! And her scalp massages and blowouts are amazing too. Definitely don't hesitate to get a haircut from her if you haven't already! She also takes her time, even if other clients are waiting she doesn't rush you out (which means you might have to wait a little for your own appointment, but I don't mind). read more

It was a fantastic hair cut and the appointment was quick. Alex was great and the appointment was very relaxed.

Alex is amazing! Did a fantastic color and cut! I recommend her 1000%! Thank you, Alex!!

I bought a Groupon to get my hair cut because I was new to the area last year. I made an appointment but had an emergency that came up where I called and canceled!! I was never told at that time I couldn't rebook. Called months later multiple times, left voicemails and emails to try to schedule for the haircut I already PAID for through the Groupon. I finally left a review asking if this place was still in business because NONE of my phone calls or emails were responded to. The owner finally responded to the review leaving out the part where I called to cancel. Glad she never touched my hair!!! read more

So I booked on Groupon and scheduled my appointment. Already paid for of course as per the Groupon app . She texted me and basically said hey if you have long hair I double my price. So basically, I wasted $30 on a low class scam . She doesn't deserve to be on Groupon if she's not going to honor her rates. In the very least, she should add a note that there will be extra fees. Going to a professional would have been cheaper. Besides, everyone knows it's easier to cut long hair than it is short. read more

Used a Groupon for my haircut here by Alex and she was great! I asked for long layers and semi-long curtain bangs to frame my face. Loved what she did to my hair. Now I have more volume and my hair looks healthier. Alex was fun to talk to and even gave me some hairstyling tips and product recs to help my curls last. Would definitely recommend booking her read more

I used a Groupon and didn't feel like I was being judged at all like most salons. I was charged an extra $10 for my long hair but I thought it was completely understandable as my hair is loooong. Alex was super sweet and was great at conversation (I'm awkward and anxious so it was much appreciated). She listened to all of my requests and gave her professional input and amazing customer service. I will be sure to book again! read more

I have been looking for a hair stylist for about 3 years now. I have fine thin hair and it takes a great hand to make it look full. I purchased the Groupon. I scheduled an appointment. Alex was prompt to respond and when I arrived she was upbeat and professional. The shop was clean. She assessed my hair, asked what I liked and disliked about my last hair cut. I showed her a photo of something I liked. Guess what? YES!!! It's amazing. Alex has the "IT" factor. My hair's healthy now. I received several compliments and I found my new hair stylist. I appreciate her. I'd recommend her to anyone who's looking for a new stylist. read more

Alex is amazing! She did a great job with my curtain bangs. I loved my new haircut and look forward to returning.

Y'all!! If you don't book an appointment with Alex, you're going to regret it! She's incredibly warm and kind. She listened to what I was thinking about for my haircut and what concerns I had. She suggested things that would be good for me and cut my hair beautifully! The blow out she did was amazing, probably my favorite haircut I've ever received! She also told me at the end how to style my hair with rollers to achieve the same look. I can't wait to come back for my next cut. read more

A neighbor referred me to Ling for hair/makeup for my engagement pictures. I DO NOT wear a lot of makeup...only mascara. So, I was a little nervous on what I would look like. Ling was SO personable and immediately made me feel at ease. I trusted her super quickly. I loved my hair and makeup! After, I booked her for my wedding in October. read more

Parking is a little tough as there is construction however find the building and a space and things will be set. I did myself a huge favor and scheduled a haircut with Alex. She was amazing. I went in feeling so bad about my graying and unkempt locks and she was so incredibly kind and supportive throughout the experience. Alex did an amazing job with my partial highlights. It's blended and a beautiful tone that will grow out nicely. I'll be back for sure.

Ling has been cutting my hair for a few months now. So glad I was referred from a friend. Since then I've referred others! She is awesome and does such a great job! Very friendly and easy to talk to. And I always feel very comfortable when I'm there. Keep it up Ling! read more

Ling is very accommodating with my busy schedule. She always pre-book me 3-4 weeks out and sends me a reminder. Sometimes I just need a trim to look properly groomed. Sometimes I need all the beauty help I can get! Ling always shampoo first and layers on the hair products to finish with a blow dry and style. Great service and very professional! Ling has additional beauty services to offer, just ask! read more

Ling is the best hair stylist I have ever been to. She knows that I want to grow out my hair for my wedding so she's great about only trimming the dead ends and maintaining my layers. She takes her time and she has a great attitude and is fun to talk to. Long story short, Ling is amazing and I highly recommend her! read more

Amazing! Thank goodness for Groupon for leading me to Studi Ling. I hadn't gotten my haircut in over 2 years and I felt like a new woman leaving here. It is a small studio inside Sola Salons in Mission Valley. Super cute and private. Ling is such a sweet and outgoing person, we connected right away. My hair is very thick and simply a mess, I asked for layers and to have it thin out. She basically brought my hair back to life! It looked and felt so much better after. I have been to many stylists but I think I have now found one I want to stick with. I even prebooked my next appointment! read more

I just redeemed a Groupon for a deep conditioning treatment, haircut, and styling with Ling. If I were well off, I'd have chucked the Groupon and paid more for the time and effort she put in, not only with my haircut and style, but her customer service. I felt like I had a therapy session with a sweetheart of a friend while getting my hair did!! :D Ling really listens to what you hope for in your new look and she takes her time to give you exactly that. I absolutely love my hairstyle and my hair is healthier looking and silky soft to boot! Helpful hint for finding her location: her studio is #13 in the Sola Salon suite of the 1450 business building BEHIND the Denny's (Google maps takes you to Denny's and you're left to scratch your head and wonder what it would be like to get your hair done in a diner (shudders)). It's a super cute, highly efficient salon and I'll be returning when I'm a hot mess again in need of Ling's help and hair expertise! read more

I am very particular about my hair. Most hairstylists doesn't even listen to what you have to say about what you want. They assume you want a certain cut because of your current hairstyle. I only have a couple of hairstylists that I can trust with my hair. It's horrible when you get a bad cut and have to wait a week or two just to get back to normal so you can fix it. Especially when you have a special occasion you have to attend. Houyling is AWESOME! She pay attention to her client's needs. She listen to you while you describe how you want your haircut, shampoo and head rub. It feels amazing. Her studio is clean. She is a true professional. I definitely recommend her for anyone who want a "REAL" haircut experience. I recommended a few of my friends to her and also my brother in law. read more

I also found Ling through her Groupon deal. And let me tell you, I am so glad I did my homework and visited her. I usually only get my hair done twice a year and now I can safely say that I will definitely be back to see her (and maybe in less time because she's that awesome!) I usually hate the small talk that comes with any service, I'm simply terrible at it. Ling made me feel like we had been friends forever. And her haircuts are simply phenomenal. I have super thick hair so I always worry about overwhelming whatever poor soul I find but she actively listened to what I wanted and most definitely delivered. Tip: Haircuts are usually $65 but if you book your next appointment with her she drops it to $40. Definitely a great way to keep customers coming back (not that I think she had any problem in the first place.) Thank you Ling! Can't wait to see you again! read more

I found Ling through a Groupon. But I think it was fate. I have been looking for a stylist since I've moved to San Diego, and I just haven't clicked with one. Well, I can now stop looking, because I'm in love with Ling's skills. As a client, I'm always scared that my scrambled words and descriptions wouldn't translate into something that the stylist can understand. That wasn't the case with Ling. She understood what I wanted and offered great suggestions for my face shape. She is fun to be around, and I had a blast with her. I can't wait to come back for my next cut! read more

Let me just start by saying I'm THAT girl who's athletic and never really cared for her hair, gets super cut cuts, etc. Ling has convinced me that it is possible for me to keep length while still salvaging my split ended, chlorine damaged swimmer's hair and I trust her! She is so easy to talk to, knowledgeable, straight forward and honest and I appreciate that a lot in a hairstylist. She's also gorgeous and so sweet and you can tell she loves what she does. I am officially converted to salon hair cuts and will def be using her! read more

On May the 4th I was in a wedding at Crowne Plaza. Ling did my hair and make-up. I felt gorgeous, and felt like a celebrity with a glam squad of one in Ling! I got compliments all day and all night. My make-up felt light and lasted ALL day and night. read more

A year ago I moved to San Diego and worried endlessly about the typical things- including the difficulty of finding a new hair stylist I could trust. One year- three haircuts later- I'm so happy to have found Ling. She's an amazing stylist, truly talented, and a wonderful human being. It's so easy to talk to her- she really puts you at ease. She's dealt with my crazy hair cut ideas and made them into chic trendy looks my husband loves. A good sign of a haircut is 1. Having your significant other notice it without needing to mention it. 2. Having him or her say that it looks sexy. For conservative/hijabi women especially, this place is ideal- Ling closes the curtains and this place is a little hair cutting oasis. I've referred tons of my friends to Ling- trust me and trust her- she'll make your hair look amazing! read more

Getting your hair and make up done by someone new can be a little nerve wrecking... finding someone to do it for your wedding day was incredibly nerve wrecking! Having Ling take care of me and my bridal party was like having an old trusted friend doll you up. Her great reviews grabbed my attention and after speaking to her on the phone I couldn't wait to meet her. During my 2.5 hour trial run, I felt very at home describing the natural yet glowing bridal look I wanted to accomplish. I instantly loved the meticulous attention to detail she took with my make up. On the big day Ling was incredibly professional and a pleasure to work with. Our bridal party included 10 ladies and she was able to calmly and carefully make each girl feel pretty. When it was my turn in the chair, Ling was able to keep my nerves at bay with her calm soothing and sweet voice. I was very happy with how my final look turned out. My bridesmaids and I kept receiving compliments about how 'naturally gorgeous' we all looked. What girl doesn't wanna hear that?! Thank you Ling, you are a doll! If I lived closer I'd come get my hair and make up done with you for every special occasion I had! =D read more
