Dan Meiner took a huge old empty warehouse space and turned it into something beautiful, but that is what he does. What started as a gift and flower shop many years ago in the Crossroads, has grown into an event company that transforms any fete into a modern and elegant affair. The space not only serves as a retail space, but also as an office. Moveable walls and furniture options allow it to be transformed into a beautiful event space at any moment. Dan used many of the modern materials that you see in homes and magazines today, but what really surprised me is the kitchen. Instead of tucking the cooks away from the guests, Dan opted to place a glass window where a wall should be. Guests can enjoy the hustle and bustle of kitchen, which really is, and should be, part of the entertainment. Chefs can finally enjoy the party and get a feel for the crowd, all while whipping up their creations. I can't wait to see what comes of this space. It could be utilized in so many ways. I have to say, the only reason I would notice as many details and event observations that I did at a recent wedding here was because I just got married and had to navigate all those (sometimes hilarious) details. This whole place was really cool, from the artsy modern feel to the downtown location. The cocktail reception for this wedding was held in the large area where you first walk in, and while the area was beautiful and allowed natural light to come in from the north end, it was really loud and echoed quite a bit. The bar was in the perfect location, tucked back but also easily accessible. The main portion of the reception was really nice, with lighting that would change every half hour or so. The toasts were easy to hear, the dance floor was big, and there was room to move around throughout. I haven't read on on SDM to find out what all they do, but in regards to wedding planning this seems like a perfectly located, beautiful spot to take a look at. read more

From a venue perspective, we had the best experience! The building was able to accommodate our 200+ guest list with ease. There was enough space for a band (Lost Wax), a photo booth (Icon) and plenty of space for guests to mingle. The bar staff was wonderful and their menu selection was very diverse. Dan and his team absolutely nailed our ceremony and reception vision (floating candles from the ceiling, boho centerpieces and a gorgeous alter). However, we were very disappointed with our bouquets and flower crowns. The colors were different from what we originally discussed in our questionnaire, consultation and final contract (requested dark, moody jewel tones and received bright pinks and purples). The Queen Proteas in the bridal bouquet were delivered as completely closed and only opened ever so slightly after the ceremony and after the majority of pictures. There were a handful of flowers and greenery that were not only never discussed but also the wrong color palette compared to the images used in the consultation. The Ice White Proteas in the bridal party's bouquets never opened and were mocked as "fuzzy artichokes". It was strange to have such an incomplete floral order from a team that's so often referred to as the, "best in Kansas City". We did get to see a small reception centerpiece (very small, do not expect to see all centerpieces) preview a month ahead of time - but there was no preview of the bouquets or crowns. Had we had a chance to see the bouquets and crowns with the rest of the preview arrangement, we could have addressed these mistakes and had the right florals for our wedding day. These concerns have been addressed with Megan, Dan and their design team prior to this review. After 4 business days, Megan replied and said she was, "sorry to hear you did not love your bouquets and crowns" and advised, "this is something that rarely happens". While she did offer a $200 credit towards a future floral order from them, the response was, like the bouquets and crowns, disappointing. There was no acknowledgement or ownership in their mistake. While this did not keep us from getting married, it was an awful lot of money on the wrong bouquets and crowns. read more

I have used twice and both times the flowers arrangements were amazing and beautiful!! Flowers lasted from weeks.

I wanted to get my wife an exotic flower arrangement and the sir working that day was able to help me find exactly what I needed. Very pleasant service, with some really neat gifts that I'll definitely consider for next time. This is a terrible venue. Canceled my sons wedding two weeks before it was scheduled even though we had called numerous times because of COVID restrictions. To make matters worse they would Not return money deposited, we had to pay a lawyer and only got half of what we paid back. Since the opening of Studio Dan Meiners newer location, I try to stop by the retail showroom once a month or so and check out what is going on. Every stop gets better than the last. I was a huge fan of the product he carried at his old location and was a bit worried when he moved into his now over a year ago new location because it just didn't stack up. But now with a little time and settling into the new space, it has hit its stride. It is one of the best places in town to find unique gifts displayed beautifully. He recently added some furniture and nice assortment of coffee table books. It's always a great place to stop in for a nice house plant, gorgeous fresh flowers or a beautiful gift for you or a loved one. As always, he offers event planning, an event space, custom floral design and a design office. Like before, Dan Meiners is a well rounded man, but now with five shiny bright stars! read more

3 stars bc the space is beautiful but it is the same furniture and decorations they used 5 years ago. I can't give much credit to the space/studio for the wedding as my friend had a wedding planner. I know her family paid a lot of money (over priced) for the end result of the wedding. Nothing went wrong or bad it just wasn't as spectacle as the money spent would make you believe it will be. I met with dan to discuss possibly using him for my wedding. His studio is nice and the pictures of his events looked good. HOWEVER, during our meeting I felt Dan was not listening to what I wanted as much as telling me what I should want for my wedding. He told me I would have an initial proposal from him within 5 days because he was leaving for India for two weeks. 4 weeks later I still had not received any contact from his studio or an initial proposal. SO I moved on and booked another photographer. THEN I find out that behind my back Dan's studio is contacting my event coordinator and asking about set-up and tear-down times for my event! I never heard back about a proposal, I never agreed to use him, signed a contract, or put a deposit down. Totally disorganized! I hope others have a better experience. read more

I love this event space. We had a corporate event there and I've been telling all my engaged friends about it ever since. I think it would be great for weddings, fundraising events, galas etc. The space is so unique and the lounge furniture, uplighting, moveable walls and separate food areas really make it an awesome place that I would highly recommend. read more

I can't even begin to say enough amazing things about Dan and his staff. He did all of our flowers for our wedding and they were beyond perfect! Dan is incredible. He is an extremely talented visionary and his creativity is unique. Besides, that he is a joy to work with. From the first time we met with him, he was professional and came up with so many beautiful ideas for our weddings arrangements. He listened to us so well and came up with flowers and decorations that I never would've dreamed of. He truly took what we said and created a masterpiece out of our style and ideas. When I went to our final showing before the wedding, there were a few things I wanted him to tweak and he did it immediately with no complaining. He really puts his customers first and wants you to love everything that he does. In addition, he really listened to our budget and actually respected it unlike some other florists we met with. He got creative and reused flowers in different places at our ceremony and reception to save us money. I was beyond impressed with the way he handles himself and runs his business. In regards to the flowers and decorations at our wedding, they were stunning! He used all of my favorite flowers and mixed them with ones I never would've thought of like cherry blossoms.
