I requested a trim and a wash and go. I was under the steamer with the deep conditioner for almost an hour, and it burned the top of my forehead, leaving a red mark until the next day. I left the salon with wet roots, dry, shrunken, crunchy ends, and not one curl defined. I am not one to tell people how to do their job, but I have never defined my 4a/b curls with a fine-toothed comb, as it disrupts the natural curl pattern and promotes frizz and breakage (especially with dense, thick hair like mine). I had to re-wash my hair when I got home, which was a bit discouraging, as this salon is highly-rated. The only good part of this experience was that taking a couple hours to soften, moisturize, and style my own hair went smoothly, because my ends were trimmed well and did not tangle easily. However, I am not a professional, and have only had my hair natural for 6 months, but I genuinely think I did a significantly better job at styling my hair than this establishment. Yes, it takes a little bit more time to moisturize and properly care for natural hair. But having a thorough understanding of hair porosity, curl/coil type, and density, truly makes a world of a difference. I expected better from a salon that specializes in natural hair. In my opinion, the workers were very nice and welcoming, but overall, this was not worth the $80 I paid. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be returning here for a wash and go. read more

I have been looking for a place to braid my hair for quiet some time. Many salons don't braid hair and if they do they only have one person braiding on one day of the week. When I called I was happy to hear they braid hair. When I walked in for the first time I was greeted with a smile and a hello by the owner Ananda. She asked me what style I was looking for and I told her. She was helping another client and while I waited for her to continue to talk to me she asked me to view her Instagram account to see what she is capable of doing. I then booked my appointment for crochet braids and they came out wonderful. I then went back a couple of weeks later for another style in which just my own hair was used and that came out beautiful as well. Definitely check out Studio 91 if you want not only great hair, but a warm, friendly environment as well. read more

Showed a picture of a hairstyle I wanted to do and it looked completely different when it was finished. Not sure why she couldn't just say she didn't know how to do the hairstyle. Anyways I will never go back, a waste of time and money, had me there for a long time to do a bad job. read more

Ananoda listened to my hair goals and catered my style to something practical that I could duplicate at home rather than a more costly service that I originally requested. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience I've ever had at a hair salon. I was extremely excited to get my hair done at this establishment, however was very let down. I had an 11:30am appointment and they didn't even start to wash my hair until 12:45pm (stopped to do something else while washing). The young lady that was washing my hair told me that I've had a relaxer before, and I never had a relaxer in my life (just heat damage). After washing, I sat in the chair expecting that she would start right away after the long wait. I was wrong! I waited 20min and asked how much was it for the wash because this was taking a long time. The woman I asked told me "no charge ", and continued to do her work. So I left with my hair wet, without anyone saying anything. This was the most horrific customer service I have ever had. I do not doubt they would have done a great job and they were very nice. Anonda is awesome, very knowledgeable of natural hair, how to get, and keeping it healthy. I even took my 4 yr daughter to her for her first professional trim. The salon is well decorated and clean. Booking online makes life easier. I cant wait for my next trim. read more

Anonda was so wonderful to me today! It was my first time at studio91 and she saved my hair. I was crazy and decided to dye my hair myself and needless to say it was a disaster. Lets just say soft black that should have turned a dark brown became super black! I explained to Anonda what happened during my consultation and she totally fit me into her schedule the next day! I explained that I wanted to go a little darker but keep my purple hair I had underneath. She lightened my hair and then proceeded to put the purple. Unfortunately my hair was so dark from the previous bad dye I did that it wouldn't take. Anonda had enough patience to decide to go over the purple dye again with permanent color. Most would have probably left it but she was determined:) The purple balayage ended up working but she said next time we are going to do it again to see if we can get it even brighter! I can't wait! One thing I cannot stand is lack of customer service. You can be great at what you do, but when you don't have excellent customer service skills your work don't matter anymore. I got box braids done on 4/27/18 which I paid $ 200 for and by Tuesday 5/2/18 one braid fell out. On Wednesday 5/3/18 I called the salon, I spoke to Anoda the owner; I informed her of what happened to see if she could fit me in to get the edges fix. Yes I get it, my hair is still in a short state. However, I explicitly asked the stylist if the braids would not fall out she said no then I asked should I do it smaller because I'm afraid they will fall out, and once again she assured me they would not. I'm not mad at the stylist because she is a sweetheart and things happened. I am upset because as a customer, I called to report the issue and was not rude or upset about it. The owner asked for my availability I told her could do it on saturday 5/5/18 she said she would call me back because she had to check her schedule. By Friday all the braids on the back of my head fell out, I had a small party at my child's school my hair looked so terrible I started calling other places to see if they could fix it for me and off course no one was willing to because they did not do the job. I work very hard for my money, so I cannot begged anyone who deliver poorly and don't have the decency to stand behind their work. read more

I am approaching my one year anniversary with Ananoda, Alysha and Ashley. I cannot recommend Studio 91 highly enough for their level of expertise, professionalism and genuine caring of each client. From the moment you walk in, you know you have found a special place and will have a high quality, welcoming experience. Their knowledge of hair care is beyond excellent. Also to ensure you achieve your hair goal success they provide detailed information for at home care without pushing products! I love the fact that they do not double book...correct. You do not walk into a jammed salon where you are waiting and waiting for your turn. This salon is not a factory. There is the saying you get what you pay for. At Studio 91 you receive far more.
