I REFUSE to ever return! The location is hurrendous, greedy money hungry yet unprofessional. At my last appt, my stylist acted like I had a personal vendetta against her coming in at the end of the day asking for a haircut. I specifically asked for layers, apparently that was too much work. She wet my hair down, snipped off my ends, and sent me packing. Drying someone's hair during the COLD fall season costs a lot, so I had my head dried tiny bit with fingers! Policies and procedures! I left with my head half SOAKING WET, without a haircut, looking WORSE than when I came in!! Spend another hour after my visit detangling my hair from fixing the mess stylist-my-ass made! I asked about a Brazilian blow out which is advertised on the salon's website as "$170 & Up". During a quick consult, the hair dresser told me their pricing started at $270 for hair shoulder-length and proceeded to tell me it would cost almost twice as much as the advertised starting price. I do understand that these types of services do vary by hair length and by thickness of hair. Needless to say, the information I was given regarding the service I was requesting seemed inconsistent with what's advertised online and overpriced. If the information I was give is more accurate than what's advertised online, then the pricing there should probably be updated or better specified. The receptionists were very nice but that didn't make up for the inconsistency I experienced. read more

In the beginning my hair stylist did everything perfect. Then they got a new bleach product that was more "natural" but it never dyed my roots the color I wanted and they never matched the rest of my hair. I was told she would go over it the next time, but then the next time's fresh roots were again not matching. Also after multiple visits she started to get really lazy drying my hair, I would point out wet patches and she would tell me they were dry, but they weren't so I would leave with wet patches that would later frizze up. Towards the last of my tries with this stylist I gave up and told her I'd just go home with wet hair but I was still charged the same full price! Went to get an up-do for a friend's wedding. I requested a specific style but was given nothing close. I was really unhappy and pointed that out but was told I would fit in perfect with the style they gave me. The pedicures are double the price as the salon down the street. They're also severely lacking in proper pedicure techniques. I didn't go in just for you to remove the polish and put new on with a two minute leg massage. The Stars given are for the manicurist though who does a beautiful job and beautiful nail art. Studio 9 Salon is terrible. I showed them exactly what I wanted my hair to look like and the lady completely ruined my hair for prom. She kept saying my hair was too long and too thick when really she just didn't know how to do it. I had to go home and fix it myself which made me late for pictures. I'll never go back to Studio 9 Salon and I suggest no one else does either at least not for something important like prom or homecoming or a wedding. read more

Whatever you do, if your hair gets screwed up, don't tell the hairdresser you're unhappy because not only will they still charge you but they will tell the salon owner that you were abusive to them and that they do not want to fix your hair, then you will be humiliated by the salon owner and treated like garbage. I have never been treated so poorly by a business owner much less had someone lie and say I was abusive! I guess as long as you get a good service there, life is peachy but don't ever complain! Super disappointed with my last hair color appointment. The first time I had my hair colored here, I really liked it and the stylist was super nice and caring. I always go into detail with how I would like my hair to look, along with pictures. I have came here multiple times for a haircut as well. I recommended this salon to many of my friends and family. Some were satisfied whereas others felt like they wasted their money. (Over $100) The salon is beautiful along with the good music and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the low rating is due to my last experience there. I told the hairstylist that I do not want my roots colored. (It took me a long time to finally grow out my natural color.) All I wanted was to do a balayage to lighten the ends of my hair. I showed her pictures as well. I really like the natural look along with a few highlights here and there. So during my last visit here which was a few days ago, the hairstylist must have forgotten but started brushing my roots with a black hair dye. It was too late for me to even tell her AGAIN that I didn't want my roots colored. So I just patiently waited to see the end results. As she was washing my hair, it was very rough and gave me a headache. In the end, it didn't even look like a natural blended balayage. The roots looked like boxed black hair dye you can do at your house. The balayage highlights aren't even blended in correctly. It looks like random uneven caramel highlights. The worst part about this is I wasted $175 here only to have to go get my hair re done at a different salon. Like I said before, the staff is super friendly but my advice is to stick to one hair stylist you really like and trust with your hair! read more

I went to this salon for quite some time. Verna, the manager and owner, has absolutely no customer service skills. I kept coming back because it is anxiety provoking to think of having to find a new salon, but I eventually had no choice. I would come in for cuts, highlights and color and could never seem to get a consistent result. I shared my concerns with Verna and I became very alarmed and uncomfortable with how defensive and confrontational she was. I thought I would let it go and try one more time; when I called to schedule my appointment with my normal hairstylist, I was advised that she was unavailable that day. Ok, no problem. I asked the receptionist when her next availability was and she replied that she was booked 6 months out. What?? I then asked about other hairstylists, I was placed on hold for awhile when she came back and told me NO ONE was available. I listed off some names and was told they were all booked out at least 6 months and that they wouldn't be able to assist me. Verna "blackballed" me from the salon. Needless to say, I was done trying. I took my business (gratefully!) elsewhere. read more

I did not have an appointment. I walked in to get shellac today.. I was extremely happy when they were able to take me as fast as they did with it being a busy Saturday. Only to be extremely disappointed when I left the salon and entered the sunlight. The application of the shellac was uneven and not applied in full. Blotchy and streaky. I want to believe it was only because they tried to fit me in last minute and we're trying to hurry. but I don't appreciate being charged the full amount when they didn't even spend time using the cuticle oil or soaking me etc... Not to mention the application was terrible. I'm not sure if I will be back. read more

Had my hair and makeup done for a wedding. It was a nice experience but the results sucked. I have thick but manageable hair. If I curl my hair it typically lasts for a few days. So I'm not sure what the women did wrong but all my curls fell out within 2 hours of my hair done. It didn't even last through the ceremony. Makeup was okay. It looked natural which is. Nice but if I'm paying $70 to get my makeup done I would like it to last all night and at least look different than I did without it. Overall expensive for the crappy results. read more

Anita does my hair and she is fantastic! Friendly and really good at her job. I always leave the salon looking better than when I walked in. I've had specific haircuts in mind that come out exactly how I described, and I've told her, "make it look better" with equally positive results. I used to love this salon. However, my hairstylist left and because it was convenient to my location I would still go for blowouts but could never find someone that gave the awesome head massage during shampoo. I had bead extensions on a weft installed and I would go there to have them pushed up, etc. They stopped doing the beaded extensions that I previously had and the stylist talked me into getting the tape in babe extensions. I asked her if I could purchase 1 package just so I can try them out. She talked to Verna the owner that said that's fine since I am a regular client. The stylist told me that 1 packet is 50.00....so I paid her the 50.00 and set up the appt for my color as well. I was reluctant because the 2 colors that I seen by the stylist were horrible. One girl I saw leaving had red dye all over her face and I found out it was same stylist. I asked her how much for install of 1 row and color. She said, you already paid for hair eo total is 85.00. She also stated that if I decide for all over tape ins which she said is 7 packs for full head would be 700.00....so I guess they would be pocketing a big profit. Anyways, I go there today and she said it would be 225.00 I said you quoted me 85.00 she said that's just for color. She also tried charging me 65.00 for a blowout which is normally 25.00 a few weeks ago. I said why so much, she said that's theprice. Luckily the owner was there and noticed that the checkout screen was on someone elses name. I said, I will just take my hair I purchased and take my business elsewhere, she talked to owner who.said it's an additional 30.00, because hair was 80.00. I found out that was a complete lie. This "stylist" gave me a messy blowout before. I actually went home and restraightened it. They lost a client, I went elsewhere for my color and tape in extensions just now and I love it. Price was about the same.....it wasnt the fact that I minded paying the amount, it was the fact that this particular stylist liked to me. Unfortunately, now they lost a client because i cant return to a salon that i dont trust. read more

This salon is very nice but the stylist, Lauren, I went to was not at all what I expected. Winning the Tiffany award and all I thought I was in safe hands. The color went well It was too blonde but I didn't worry about it then she started cutting and cutting and cutting. I have a hack job on my head that is going to take MONTHS to grow out. Made an appointment with Nicole after searching for a new stylist. I had my hair cut previously from a different salon and was not happy. Nicole used a razor to cut my hair and work with the natural texture of the new style and my hair. She showed me with a minimal use of product I can get a new and fresh look every time. Salon referred me to Lauren. Unless you want a brillo pad for hair, avoid this salon. Couldn't even do a basic cut. Lied about what she did and when I let the owner know what a mess she made of my hair, her comment was "It's hair." No concern about client satisfaction, just about the money. Big Bill. Little skill. Saddest part-she trains the other girls. If that's accomplished, run, run fast.. As to the owners response-how easy it is to point the finger at the client when she never saw the cut. Studio 9 is a great place! The salon is always doing something fun for their employees and clients. Everyone is very nice here and helpful. The stylists are always going through training to learn more and also get the latest techniques. I have never had a bad experience here (I have at other salons!). Finding a good hair stylist is difficult. Some are either amazing at cuts but horrible at color or amazing at color and subpar for haircuts which is why I would constantly switch hair salons and stylists in the metro area. Let me say Lauren is incredible and knows her craft inside and out! She has given me not only amazing cuts but great color. She's taken me from long dark hair to a fun brunette bob with highlights to blonde with party colors and to an edgy platinum pixie cut. Not to mention she does amazing makeup and formal hairstyles. If you're looking for a great salon and an awesome stylist look no further!! read more

I will not be going back. I went the first time a few months ago to do ombre to my hair , it turned out alright after I had to argue with the stylist about what colors I wanted. I'm paying them for a service, advice is fine, but do what I pay for. I went back a second time this past Monday for a lightening service to go all blonde (from blonde ombre) not hard... The stylist again did not listen, she did highlights, left brown in. I complained so she bleached my hair and turned it orange,something it never does! I go back ion the next day to get it fixed by them and they tell me there is nothing thy can do, so I end up having to drive across town to another salon to fix this one's mistake and I still have partly orange hair from this lady who had no idea what she was doing in coloring blonde hair. I will NOT be back!!!! I am new to the area and Studio 9 came highly recommended. My first experience should have been a red flag, I didn't have any appointment and just walked in. The receptionist was very polite, got me checked in, she then over the loud speaker called the stylist and said I was ready. The entire time I was there, I kept hearing stylist's being called over the loud speaker. I felt like I was in Walmart and they were doing a price check or I was at a restaurant, they called me to say my table was ready. My consultation consisted of asking how I wanted my hair cut. She mentioned a bob and I said no that it was to short; I wanted to keep it on the longer side so I could pull it up. I told her I have a major appointment next week and my son's wedding in a couple months so I didn't want anything drastic. I stated that my hair was the "Rachel" cut. I said just cut 2 inches off and keep the same cut, add a angled bang in the front. My shampoo consisted of her hand rubbing my head, didn't even get to my scalp. The first cut was my bangs, she didn't ask me how short I want the angle, she just cut. This hair was to my chin, it is now at my eye. She continued to cut the rest of my hair and then said, are we styling? I replied, yes just blow dry with a round brush because that is how I do it at home. After blow drying, she kept pushing my now short bangs back, if I had bangs cut don't you think I'd want them down. She rushed me out of her chair, went up front to pay. When I got home, I looked at it and it was completely flat to my head, felt like I had a helmet on. I didn't think to much at the time because I just figured she didn't blow dry it the way I do. The next day I go to blow dry/style my usual way. OH WOW.....Remember the short bangs? Yep, she used the short bangs as a guide and cut the entire top section. She didn't cut the 2 inches as I requested, she cut 4 or more off the top section. End Result.....A MULLET, yes that's right A MULLET!!!! I am a licensed hairstylist for over 30 years and I can't even perform majic to make it look half way decent. My options, wear the back pinned up for the next couple months until the top grows out, start wearing a wig or have extenstions put in. read more

I had my hair and makeup done for a wedding here, the salon is beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly enough to me, but I'm not sure all girls in my party had the same experience. As for the make up, it was horrible. There was eye shadow all over my face, smudged liner and brows and hastily(poorly) applied lashes, and although I had a full face all of my dark spots and blemish were visible. Then she sprayed my face with hairspray afterwards. I would think when doing make up on someone with blemishes you would know not to put hairspray on their skin...that's what setting spray is for. Same for the hair, I had to redo it myself when I left. I will say, if you're looking for some curls or a basic updo...they can do it here but anything beyond that I would go elsewhere or make sure you talk to them in advance about your stylist and what they're capable of. I did not complain or ask to be fixed because I did not have the time or the faith that Studio 9 would meet my needs or expectations, and at the price point per girl...I had some expectations. This was probably the worst salon I have ever visited. I received a gift card for this salon and decided to give it a try. I got a manicure, pedicure, and my eyebrows waxed. From the minute I walked in, it was utter chaos. The salon was so noisy, I couldn't even carry on a conversation with the woman working on my nails. Not that it really mattered though because she was rushing trying to get me finished because she was overbooked. My nails didn't have enough time to dry before I was whisked off to get my eyebrows waxed, so every single nail ended up with a smudge mark. The woman that did my eyebrows did a fantastic job, but couldn't have been less interested in me. Not a single person working at the salon made me feel like they valued me as a customer. I received a thank you/welcome card a few weeks after my visit....too bad it was thanking me for coming in for services I didn't get. This was probably the most stressful salon experience I have ever had, I don't recommend it. read more

Very rude staff. I made an appointment to only have a haircut that day, and everything was going fine, my hairstylist was Abbey and i loved how she cut my hair. She went on to blowdry my hair but never told me that that was actually the styling it that way. When i went to pay with the receptionist lady she said that the cost would be $42. This was not my first haircut at this salon and i always paid $30-35 for a haircut. I asked why is the price higher now, and she said that the stylist included the styling for me too which i never asked for and i never do. So an older lady came to me, i am thinking the manager or so, but in a VERY rude way and said to me "you have to pay bcz you had a style too, she gave you a styling" told her i never asked for one and that the stylist never mentioned that that was the "style" she was only blowdrying my hair. Told them i will pay the full price but will never ever come to this salon for any service. Used to be a great one. Manager, older, blond lady made me decide to never come at this salon. read more

The only reason I even gave this salon one star was because it wouldn't let me post it with out one otherwise I would give it -10 stars. Worst highlights. Wanted corrective color they said they couldn't do it they could only do highlights. Wanted long layers so Lynne started with me, did the first few highlights then left to go home. Then Nikki came with verna and apologized and finished them. Nikki and Lauren ripped my hair out taking the foils out. I wanted long layers all I got was 5 inches off my hair and a choppy hair cut. Terrible color. No highlights show. Then Nikki and Lauren left so ANOTHER girl had to blow it out. It looked like I just air dryed it. No silkyness, fly away very dry brittle looking. Verna told us over the phone she was going to stop me because it looked bad but she didn't & she would of never of even cared to call me back if I never called them. Verna THE OWNER was very rude and had a nasty attitude the whole time talking to me when she told me to come back at 8. I don't not recommend this salon AT ALL save your money and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!! read more

I just got my toes done there for the second time. The owner was at the front desk so I expressed my happiness at the service I received, but how VERY UNCOMFORTABLE the chair was. The chair has NO CUSHION and they know it. The last time I went there another technician told me that one chair sprays water all over the place and the other has no cushion. Instead of the owner being polite and acknowledging my concerns, she was RUDE! VERY RUDE! Shockingly so! I guess you don't have to be qualified in any fashion to own a business other than have money. If she had only said, "I understand and I will see what I can do." or even, "I understand, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do." But she ranted at me, "How dare you tell me that my chair is bad. I paid $10,000 for that chair!" ... She has absolutely no clue how to treat a client. How very UNPROFESSIONAL. I loved the job my nail technician did, but I'm not sure I will ever go back because of the way this owner treated me. I left disgusted and completely offended. read more

I am usually not one to review someplace unless I absolutely feel that I should warn people; with that said, if you are a female seeking a salon to get your hair and make up done for a special event do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to this salon. You are better off doing your make up by yourself because they use foundations from companies like covergirl. Don't get me wrong, I use covergirl on a daily basis because it sort of gets the job done and,well, its pretty inexpensive but it is absolutely outrageous to charge an arm and a leg to have your make up done by a 'professional' if that is the kind of product your going to use! My make up wore off in about 30 minutes and it was not due to any reason (sweating, oily face...etc) other than the fact it was a crappy job. My hair fell out in about the same time and I had to go through and touch it up. The only reason I'm giving them one star is because the salon is beautiful on the inside and the staff is nice. But please, if you are a bride-to-be go ahead and search for another place or youll be stressed on your wedding day because youll have to touch up your hair and make up every 30 minutes.
