My daughter got an incredible cut here during our weekend trip to Saratoga. And hanging with the owners sweet dogs was a bonus.

Jaysie has an eye for talent and her staff is constantly learning the hottest tips and tricks from Bumble & Bumble. Chelsea has been doing my hair for over 7 years-she is the most accommodating, whether coming in early or staying late (or even coming in on her day off!) to work with my schedule. She is a color master-She's made me able to rock every color from dark brown to platinum blonde. My hair and my confidence is so greatful for her talent! Everything from the essential oil diffuser to the tea and flavored water on demand to the thoughtful coffee table books (which I actually liked one of them so much, I ended up buying one for myself!) to the scalp massage-OMG! Whether you're looking for a blowout for a night on the town, an up-do for an event, quick trim, professional color or hair care 9-1-1! This is 100% the salon for you! You will not leave disappointed. I am always looking forward to my appointment at Hair Creations and I cannot recommend this business enough. -Liz

I've always…read morebeen happy with the cuts, especially during my long, drawn-out process of growing out my bangs. (Also provided: moral support while growing out the bangs, which I very much needed.) I have medium-dark blonde hair and Brittany has a light touch with highlights which brightens up the overall look of my hair color without giving me dark roots to worry about and maintain. I don't have the time or money to mess around with roots; subtle highlights are the goal for my hair and I'm consistently pleased with the results. The salon is in downtown Saratoga so you are paying Saratoga prices (sigh, I'm still a midwestern girl at heart, and the cost of living up here really hurts that heart). But, for Saratoga, this is the first place where I've reliably received haircuts and color that I like, can get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, and the actual cut and color don't take foreverrrrrr. My previous salon once took a full 3.75 hours for a simple (and not that great) cut and highlight, which is *absurd*, and why I jumped ship. Please note that the Strand does *not* accept credit cards. Cash or check only! Parking can be found on the street if you're lucky, in the public library parking lot, or in the garages on Putnam St and Railroad Place. I think all of the parking in the area is 2 hour time limit between 8am-6pm.

Went to their website to book an up-do and was very excited about my appointment, I've never had a…read moredisappointing service here. Booking online is quick and easy and I was able to get a slot in prior to my event that evening. I was greeted and welcomed in with lots of energy and things quickly turned to confusion for me as I was not sure why: 1. I needed to bring my hair dry to an up-do appointment (I have curly hair) -- every up do I've ever had at any other salon they actually have washed my hair first and then did my hair * my stylist told me it was not possible to dry my hair straight and do an up do in the time of an updo appointment. This caused major confusion and made my experience not really enjoyable as I was wondering why the stylist was mad I came to the appointment with wet hair. Additionally, I went online to check "how long" is an up do schedule for and its scheduled and priced the same as a wash cut and style at 1 hour and 15 minutes. My hair never takes more than around 20 minutes to dry and honestly, even without a Brazilian, my hair only took 40 minutes, which means it would leave 35 minutes for up doing. ----- I'm not sure if the stylist was rushing due to being overbooked or wanting a break or being mad my hair was wet. We had good chats and it turned into a decent experience about 20 minutes in once my hair was dried. ----- It is my fault I didn't come with any pictures I guess of what I wanted and they had no styling books that I could see. I told the stylist I wanted a "low bun thing that looks like a fold over similar to a braid that is a bit loose and has a bit of height and volume to the top and sides." Ultimately, it turned out alright - I had felt rushed the entire appointment which was booked for 1 hr 15 minutes, the stylist finished exactly at the 45 minute mark and that's with me taking 4 minutes to settle in. So the hair was 41 minutes for an hour and fifteen minute appointment. When I ask meta AI to create what I told the stylist, the hair I wanted came up, however, it was not what I received in person. Ultimately, the up do worked, photos came out okay and I can't blame anyone but myself for the fly aways and style, because I didn't bring photos. I don't know if I'll do this service here again, because 45 minutes of a 75 minute service and being told it was not possible due to me coming in with wet hair and not getting a shampoo.... This wasn't ideal. The fact you want clients coming in with dry hair should be somehow communicated to the client in the future. Plus, the stylists have different blow dryers, so getting a Dyson is not guaranteed. The experience was a lesson learned.

But progressively got a little more shallow. I requested a full highlight and when getting bleached by Jayda she applied bleach directly to my scalp and I now have a bleach burn on my scalp. I informed her immediately after I felt it, to which we washed it out but even then after that my skin was practically red and bleeding. I thought after we washed it would be fine and here I am writing this review 3 days later because I'm super itchy and now have an extremely noticeable red spot in my scalp. Please please please do not make this mistake by being under informed. Know that you need to have a mask on your scalp before bleaching!

By definition, a sanctuary is a place of refuge or safety, and this salon most def lives up to its…read morename. Bursting with creativity, it's a safe space for getting experimental, whether you're chopping off a few precious inches or looking for the most perfect blonde highlights. Finding a salon and a hairstylist is like dating: you have to play the field a bit, get together a couple of times, weigh your options, and ultimately decide whether they're worth settling down for. It's exhausting, but once you meet the one, there's no turning back. Lucky for me, the stylist I visit, Meghan, is a wizard, and hasn't let me down since. In fact, I doubt any of the stylists here let their clients down, because they're all just so awesome and talented; Sanctuary Salon is basically like a revolving door of killer hair where you never leave without feeling like a million bucks. (a million-hair?) Today, I arrived for my 3:30 pm appointment, and the place was poppin' for a Wednesday afternoon! Known for its incredibly cool team of stylists and colorists, the salon has made a name for itself, and since I see a stylist whose Instagram handle is @alittlemoreblonde ("A Little More Blonde"), I know I'm in good hands when it comes to my blonde hair (give her a follow to check out her work!). Meghan manages to give me not what I requested, but something even better. It's always glossy, pretty, and doesn't look too 'try-hardy.' She's also tuned in with the best of hair-color technology, as it seems Sanctuary's team of stylists frequently hosts or attends continuing education events (I know this bc I peep their social media, duh.) Best of all, the hair color and highlights she gives me always grow out like a dream; there's no harsh line of demarcation, and people compliment me on my color even months later. Today I left with a really great transitional "fall blonde," with my locks showing off a super nice, dimensional-yet-subtle ombré that is a new look for me, so I'm pumped to rock it out this season. I never leave without booking my next appointment, and I already can't wait to for my Holiday 2019 glow up. Hopefully, you're prepared for a long-term, committed relationship, because you're bound to fall in love with Sanctuary and one of its talented stylists. Here's to love, health, happiness, and really, really great hair!

The amenities were all very clean. Upon arriving, we were directed to their relaxation room, complete with snacks (cookies/trailmix) and ice water. There was a fire place and really comfy chairs I wish I had in my house. I got my first facial ever, which was very refreshing. And a deep tissue massage. When I say deep-tissue, I mean it! Every other spa I've tried in the area never quite seems to get the pressure right. I am extremely active, and tend to have tight muscles, so when I go for a massage, I really want those knots smoothed out. I wish I remembered my therapists name, but I will be sure to have them check the next time I go back so I can be sure to see her again. After our services, we were able to use their sauna and steam room, and relax for as long as we wanted. Even the locker room seemed luxurious to me. Only thing I wish I did differently, was to arrive earlier and enjoy the relaxation room for a longer period. And also, bring supplies to take an actual shower after my massage. I will definitely be back!

My husband and I were treated at Complexions Spa for four treatments over two different days. The…read moreenvironment was very serene and relaxing, and the treatment providers were very good and very professional. Unfortunately, the reservationist, front desk staff, and spa attendants made many mistakes, lacking a significant level of professionalism you would expect at a spa of this caliber. These problems included making a mistake on the second day with one of my reservations where I was sent a male instead of female massage therapist for a 1.5 hour massage. When I brought it to their attention, the massage therapist (not the front desk administrative person) offered a half hour massage with a woman instead of 1.5 hour to "fix" the mistake. I told them I wanted to speak with the front desk person and strongly objected to the supposed solution; they came up with an hour massage with a free add-on (hot stone massage). I had to work hard for this - they made things much more stressful than it should have been. They also told us wrong information about their tipping policies for certain massage therapists and made it really difficult to tip people, did not tell massage therapists to wear masks for both of us (which we had requested ahead of time and they had done the first day), had a cold spa attendant greet us who was suppose to make us feel welcome but lacked warmth and social graces, another spa attendant touched me repeatedly (which you do not do with out consent), etc. When the owner, Denise DuBois, called to talk about the numerous problems I had outlined in an email, she was highly defensive. I felt SO tense and uncomfortable with how she behaved towards me that even though she apologized for our experience at the spa and ultimately offered two free massages (for myself and my husband), I/we could never imagine going back there; we did not accept the offer. We do NOT ever want to go back there again. There was a significant lack of warmth and empathy for the level of problems and mistakes from staff and the stressful impact of this in real time and when discussed later - it was quite shocking. We have been to spas and all types of treatment providers in the U.S. and in Europe and have never been treated so unprofessionally by the administrative end of a business. It clearly comes from the top down and is very problematic. Added note: I have a friend who warned me against this place, because she had been there a half dozen times, and they made a mistake every single time with her reservation. When I told this to Denise Dubois, she wanted to know the name of my friend (talk about this request being inappropriate), and she found it hard to believe what I was saying (again, inappropriate). I was really taken aback; a professional does not do this. My friend recommended another spa in Saratoga Springs that she loves. I am going to try them.
