Cost: -They charge $150 an hour for 4 guys and a large truck. Our move from the city to Gwinnett took about 6-7 hrs. We paid about $1200 for our move. -They automatically charge 1 hour for transportation to and from their headquarters, so that will be added to the moving hours and does not include their actual drive time of your items to the new move-in location. This is pretty standard. (TIP: Make sure to avoid those places that want to know your inventory or the weight of your boxes. They pull bait and switch tactics and no one on earth knows their inventory or the weight of their items, so I specifically sought out a service with a flat hourly rate). -Overall, spending money on professional movers will be some of the best money that you will ever spend. Imagine the cost if you injure your back or the weeks of time versus hours that it will take to do this on your own or with your friends. -Make sure to budget for tipping your movers at least $20 each. These guys bust their butts more than anyone. Also, keep bottled water and snacks handy for them and make sure to bring toilet paper to the new location since they will need to use the restroom. Pros: -Our point of contact Jeff was super responsive and professional. -The guys that showed up got the job down and we tipped them all. They didn't slack off at all. -We have hardwood floors in the new place and we didn't want scratches. These guys are definite pros and they automatically wrap furniture, lay cardboard down on floors, and listen when you mark certain boxes and fragile. They knew what to do and we didn't feel the need at all to get involved in their process. -There were no broken items and not one scratch on the hardwoods or any smudges on the walls! That is impressive. Cons: -The only minor con that I observed is that the movers stopped to fill up for gas on our dime, once they were in transit with our items. Since we already paid for an hour of travel time, I expected their truck to be prefilled and ready to go before they showed up at our door. Unlike stopping for gas with a car, it takes a bit of time for truck to maneuver into a station and fill up and we paid for this time.

Jeff is very professional and thorough! He took the time to explain everything in detail to me and then went over it again when I had questions. He broke down the pricing, the driving and everything needed to make the appointment. He said I sounded pretty young based on my voice and gave me some advice about the move. It felt like I was speaking with my Dad, which is a really good thing for me! He went over the benefits of hiring them, such as performing routine background checks on all their employees, their employees are full-time - not contracted and they've been in business for 30 years. I didn't end up booking the appointment because a group of friends and family volunteered to help us move. But if I didn't have friends to help, I would totally book them today!

Five guys came this morning (2 days later) and unloaded 5 U-Boxes and put a treadmill back together in a little over 2 hours. They were extremely polite and careful with my things. They literally wouldn't let me help. They would take whatever I was carrying and tell me they're here to take care of it for me. I wish I was so well taken care of regularly in my life! Jim, the owner, said he could accommodate either date for $56 per hour if I rented a U-Haul truck. Since this was the least expensive option, I hired their services. Jim's son - Thomas - and grandson - Rick - met us at the U-Haul. They were very accommodating and even drove the truck for us. During the move, Rick said, "I notice you have an iPhone 4" and asked my daughter and me whether the iPhone 4 was better than the iPhone 5. I thought nothing unusual about this at the time. They loaded everything we needed to move out of the home and unloaded at our storage location. When my 7 year old granddaughter came home, she wanted to play a game on her iPhone 4, which her mother gave to her after updating to a newer version. The phone was kept in one place - on the vanity table in the bedroom where Rick first asked me about the different versions. It was not there. I thought perhaps the phone was picked up in error while they were dismantling a bed in the room & called Jim to inquire. He asked his son & grandson - Thomas said he remembered seeing the iPhone, and both men said they did not take it. Well we have since completed our move, and to give them the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe we would find it misplaced somewhere. We still have not found the iPhone, which was locked & not activated for anything other than games for a 7 year old. No cameras were in the room, but no one else entered our home from the time my granddaughter played with her phone on 10/27 & when she wanted to play with it on 10/28. Prior to this realization, I was prepared to give JG & Sons an excellent rating. Unfortunately, this incident soured the entire experience. If people trust you to enter their home & move their belongings, they should be able to trust that nothing in their home will go missing. UPDATE 11/4/14: Minutes after my review posted last week, Mr. Dickerson called me - not to acknowledge the theft, but to inform me that "if you had waited 2-3 weeks before posting the review, we could have filed a claim. It is our word against yours. We are licensed and insured." This, despite the fact that claims should be filed within days, not weeks. I told Mr. Dickerson that I had no reason to lie about an iPhone; that I had more things of greater value if my intentions were nefarious. Of course, every expensive item was not visible to the movers. Further, he did not give me the option to file a claim before I posted this review, although I gave his workers/family members the benefit of a doubt and waited until we completed our move to find the iPhone 4. Mr. Dickerson's response and subsequent comment to my review reinforces our negative experience with this company. If you hire their services, hide ANYTHING of value.

He offered me the best rate I could find ($66 for two guys per hour, two hour minimum so $132 total). I checked with Jim the day before to make sure everything was still good to go, and he said he had me down and there wouldn't be any problem. The next day, his son called me at 1:30pm and said that he would be there at 2:00 (which was on schedule). At 10 minutes after 2, they weren't there, and by 2:20, I tried calling him a couple times and my calls were silenced and ignored. One of my calls was eventually answered, and said he was right around the corner, but it still took him a while longer to get there. I called Jim who was very apologetic and promised a discounted rate, and they finally pulled in at 2:35. Jim said up front he would discount me for the half hour that they were late, so he was very accommodating. However, I wish I could say the same for the actual movers. Not only did they show up over half an hour late, they were smoking and actually tried to enter my moving truck with lit cigarettes (and no apology about being late). We specified that we didn't mind them smoking on the property afterward, but doing it around my stuff IN THE TRUCK was unacceptable and asked them to put it out, which was not met with a polite or understanding response from one of them. Also, because we weren't sure when they would actually be getting there and since we had to return the moving truck that evening, we had to start unloading ourselves before they got there. Because the truck was partially empty, this was met with "Well there's not hardly anything here, I don't know why y'all were worried about time, this won't take any time at all".... and we told them that's because we had to start moving it ourselves without them, the truck actually had arrived full. We weren't happy, but we were by no means uncivil towards them, because I'm not about to be rude to someone who is going to be handling my stuff for the next 30 minutes. However, despite this, I overheard numerous unkind comments directed at me and my boyfriend when we were thought to be out of earshot (though these did NOT come from Jim's son, I want to make that clear; Thomas was respectful and friendly aside from the cigarette). Even IF they were not directed at us (which is unlikely, based on their context of "If they weren't paying me, somebody would be getting an *** whoopin', nobody talks to me like that and gets away with it, etc.), they were still profane and inappropriate and made us incredibly uncomfortable. Finally, they ended up dropping an antique desk that I specifically directed them to be careful with, and taking a LARGE chunk out of my wall out with my washing machine. I could not find damage on the desk, but when I asked about the wall, I was told that I was responsible for protecting my own walls and that was described in the terms and conditions that were sent to me. I know this is the case for some moving companies, but when reviewing the contract that was texted to me, there is actually nothing that details that in the copy I was sent, but my apartment complex fixed the damage free of charge so I did not follow up on it. In the end, I only ended up paying $100 out of the original $132 I was quoted. Jim made himself available the entire time and was very prompt at responding to my questions. I am pleased that he made right on his movers being late by offering me the discount. He was courteous and apologetic throughout the whole ordeal, even when explaining about the wall; I think the policy on that may have just been a miscommunication of some sort but that all worked out in the end. If I could be guaranteed to work exclusively with Jim and completely different movers, I would happily use this company again. However, even with the discount, based on my experience with the movers themselves (ESPECIALLY the rude one, whose name I don't even know because he didn't introduce himself), I cannot recommend using J G and Sons: I would have rather paid more to be with another company who would guarantee a smooth move than have to pay even a discounted price for careless moving that I could have done myself for free. Thank you, Jim, for being as accommodating as you could considering the circumstances, and I hope that future moves go more smoothly.

Who would've thought that on a Friday evening anyone would respond. A couple did and one was Floors & Chores. They asked more questions about what I wanted and I explained exactly. I didn't want there to be any surprise for anyone. I could tell Kimble was familiar with the type of couch I had for him to move. I was given a price and a couple of times that he was available.
