Terrible customer service and return policy. Overpriced. Always carry the wrong books. Shop online instead!

I won't shop at any store that insists on checking my bag. I'll hang onto my bag and YOU can go out of business. How about that instead?

One of the antiques is the fellow who works here who is certainly not someone you want to depend on if you're in a hurry. He is a sweet old man who always has the time for an impromptu chat about this or that and he has a vague idea where you might find that or this in this store. It's very cramped and difficult to walk through, let alone find anything specific in, but it's so very interesting. Inventory keeps piling in, quite literally, and I don't think I've ever used, literally, so appropriately. I found some openly racist anthropology ("South American Redskins") from the early 20th century, and some truly vintage racist (and racial) legal text from a little bit earlier ("People of color property issues" and yes, that's the origin of the allegedly open minded euphemism, segregation law), sheet music from the Roaring Twenties, Shakespeare annotated meticulously two generations ago by a theater professor, a photography coffee table book from Post-War (World War II) Japan - the era when my father met my mother in rebuilt Hiroshima. There's a fascinating cramped filing cabinet full of antique postcards and while I was there a Korean War veteran and his middle aged adult daughter found a WWII era post card that had been sent to a relative (penny stamp affixed) from Europe. If you're the sort of person who thinks that rummaging through a museum warehouse or a restricted archive would be fascinating or an antique book collector (either a collector of old books, or an old collector of books) this is a must-see one hour destination.

I used to go to the cafe just to get their food, even when I was not in need of a book. The food was that good. Sad, because I much prefer doing business with small, local businesses.

I made calls to multiple Record stores within the last 2 months prepping, planning on where I wanted to go. Schuler's seemed like the hidden gem no one goes to. I was told, along with several other people that they HONOR THE LINE. I showed up at 4am. I was second in line, made friends with the first and third in line who were also told they honor the line. at 8:45ish a man came out and took note of how many people wanted Taylor Swift only. I was hopeful I was getting my entire ISO and my oldest would get what they want to because again, 2nd in line. Doors open at 9am and the man who came out earlier announces free for all. At that point it became a safety issue, people running, pushing, hollering. I got everything I was after however they only had 1 copy of what Toby wanted and they sold out because of course. I called the grand rapids location, the GM was super nice, offered to send us the vinyl free if they had it in stock but sadly they had only gotten 1 as well and it sold out. I am so sad for my oldest because this was supposed to be a fun experience and because of one careless man, RSD has been forever tainted for us because I really don't want to risk sitting out from 4am-9am in the rain ever again just to be trampled on.

    Capital City Comic Con

    Capital City Comic Con

I thought this place would be a decent comic book store in the midst of the city of Lansing. The…read morereason I chose this store was that I had some comics that I wanted to be graded (getting your comic graded makes the comic that much more collectable) and they were the closest to me. After doing a bit of research on the place beforehand. I was fairly impressed that they've been in business so long and even after a death in the family the business was still running well. They even do Friday Night Magic nights. So after a nice long drive to Lansing. I arrived at the street it was on and my GPS had informed me that I passed it. Twice. There were no signs that I could see. I had to look at a bit closer to see that the store display had comic book memorabilia. I found a nice parking spot in the back and went up around to the front of the store. Come to find out that there are two stores that share the same place. A bookstore in the front part of the store and the comic store in the back. I really didn't have a problem with this except it looked like the book store had been closed for sometime. They did however have some pretty neat locally printed books and I bought them from a lady who had to be pulled from the back room. She was the one in charge of the book store part. So I went to the back and it was really weird. They had a broken down arcade machine against a wall, some random comic action figures against another wall, a few shelves with the new comic releases. At the counter they had various stuff. Mostly magic stuff. I talked with one of the workers and he looked over my comics and informed me there's two ways to grade my comics. The CGC (the main company that grades comics) had a backlog of over a year. But, there's another company that does it as well and it would only take a few weeks. I agreed upon that and they went to go ring me up. Two of the regulars there came up to look at my comics. They looked them over and one of them even picked them up saying that "It's defiantly not a 10" (Meaning that it isn't in the best condition) . They ran my debit card through and for 5 comics to be graded I was charged $90 and was told it would be ready in 2-3 weeks. This was back in August. So October I sent them a message asking why I haven't received a phone call as to the condition of my comics. I got no response. A few months later went by and I tried to get a hold of them on the phone # they have listed on there website. After numerous times trying to call I figured that the # they have listed isn't working or there # isn't what they posted. The reason why I'm giving them one star is that I still HAVE NOT received my comics. I have been contacted by them though through facebook only "Absolutely. I apologize again for the trouble!" So not only am I still out $90 I'm out my comics as well. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody
