Horrendous, I am a third year student that lived in a 12
bedroom house coming to the end of my contract, and I cannot wait. We had
issues with mould in multiple bedrooms and living spaces that made myself and
another member of the house fall ill. I also have a friend in another house
owned by the same company who had serious mould issues. We organised a council
visit and found out that one room that a member of the house was staying in was
illegal due to fire regulations. On top of that some of the contractual
obligations seemed to be non-existent as the landlord would freely enter the
property and bedrooms (the contract states he needs to give 24 hour notice). This eventually led to a member of the
landlords staff walking into a girls bedroom whilst she was changing. The landlord
himself was rude on multiple occasions and patronising, it felt as if no-matter
what I spoke about I was wrong. We had
many other issues with the house however there are so many it is hard to list
them all; windows not closing, cracks in skylights, boilers didn't work and one
fridge between 12 people. Now to be fair to the landlord he has recently
started fixing these issues, however I have noticed that this generally happens
around the beginning of term when we have to pay a rent instalment. Some of my
house-mates are second years and they have resigned a contract as he has
started to sort the house out. On top of that he has reduced the rent ridiculously
and made bills included, this hasn't affected me though and I still am getting
the same treatment from the landlord that I received when I signed up. Every
one that has re-signed (again he seems to be more pro-active when money is
involved) he has been nicer to and has started to pay attention to any issues
they raise. Now one of the most annoying things about this house is that not
only is it the worst house and service I have come across at university (I have
stayed in three properties all with different landlords) I have paid the most
and bills were not included. This was to the point that my loan actually wasn't
enough to cover the cost of rent and bills meaning I had to get a job. Just as
an end note then I would also like to point out that on the website it states
every house includes Sky TV, Netflix, Xbox 360 & PS3, HD LED TV's in all communal
lounges, fully furnished rooms, and biweekly cleaning service We had a sky box
that only played a few channels and a TV (not HD or LED) that would turn black
and white every half an hour. Nothing was ever mentioned to me about installing
an Xbox or a PS3 and my room still now coming to the last month of my contract
has not got a chest of drawers (I have a wardrobe, a desk and a bed) and it
wasn't until I believe two months ago that we heard the first about this cleaning
service. Renting from this company was awful, the house was horrible the
service was worst and I have paid the most I have ever paid for accommodation at
university. P.S; I am sorry if you have come across this review before
but I plan on posting it on as many review sites as possible. read more
