To be honest the software is quite useful but the technical support and customer service is the worst I have ever encountered in my life!

Absolute garbage, I had an account previously and bought a new computer. when trying to switch account over to new computer, they made me buy a new license key. After doing so, they then "flagged" my account because of "suspicious activity" and would not refund my money after getting kicked off 5 minutes into use. After calling them, they tried telling me what I did was shady. It's a month to month service and they should stay in their place and act like netflix, not a dictatorship where they tell you something. I've been a solid customer of this company for 13 years. I recently tried to add a user to my account and they flagged me because the user I tried to add had been Flagged in the past. Now In order for me to continue using their service they're asking me to pay for 4 licenses (my license and the 3 old licenses from the flagged user). They want quadruple from me now for literally nothing. This company has a monopoly and they know it. If I want to use the software I'll have to pay $800 a month! Unreal! Horrible company. After confirming my PC exceeded the minimum specifications, I purchased the software to make some tweaks to my yard plan. The software would not activate with the product key provided. It claimed it was unable to connect to structure studios. I checked my firewall and internet connection to ensure everything was good. After about 2 hours of troubleshooting, I cancelled the same day without ever activating. Structure Studios refuses to refund and I am battling with my CC to try to get my money back. I'm out $292 for something I never got to use. This should be considered theft. read more

The only reason im putting one star is because i have to in order to post a review. I had the same experience as 99.99% of all the other reviews. Used the software for a couple of years. Enjoyed using the software and was very user friendly. We had asked if it was possible to download on one of our other computers because my son was interested in learning how to use the software. We were told that was fine we just couldn't use it at the same time and would have to log out on one computer to use on the other. I dont own a pool company. I was actually designing my own pool for my personal home and really just enjoyed using the software and was impressed with the capabilities. Anyway, one day my account was locked and when I called customer service about it they put the manger on the phone and I got the same thing as everyone else. I was told that I had to purchase a second user key and if I didn't I would be banned from using the software. The manager was a total dick and claimed there was no way to correct what their software security had flagged. So they kept my money even charging me for an additional month after they locked me out. If anyone wants to file a class action, I'm all in!! These guys need to be put in their place as they are the ones stealing from the customers! read more

I would recommend all swimming pool designers and sales designers to check Idea Spectrum software and by combining it with Pool Templates plug add on you should be able to get better results than Pool Studio software & the best part It's a one time fee and you own the software And you don't have to deal with bad customer service anymore!! read more

BEWARE!!! Try Pool Templates instead. If I could give negative stars I would. The product is great but the company sucks! I purchased the pool studios for my family's business thinking I would learn it, but soon realized I did not have the time. So I transferred it over to my daughter, as a designer on my account, and she began watching youtube videos(you can find all the training on YouTube) to learn. After a few days my daughter's account was locked and flagged for multiple users. We did everything in accordance with their rules and were still flagged. Why even have a designer option if you are gonna be locked out and canceled for using it? They want every person in your company to have an account for$200 a month. Please beware of this company. They have 1 star rating with the BBB. Look into using Pool Templates instead . It's only a matter of time before other products are as good or better than Pool Studios. FIND A BETTER PROGRAM TO USE. My husband owns a small pool business, and I provide the designs because I am more computer savvy than my husband, and understand how to (and have the time to) use Structure Studios. A few months back, I had issues with my computer which wiped the hard drive Pool Studio was on. We recently were hired to build a pool, and I had to redownload Pool Studio. Because my husband is the owner of the company, when I signed myself up for a membership, I listed him as the owner. When I went to redownload Pool studio, I listed myself as the user - because the company owner was purchasing pool studio for me to use as an employee. This ended up locking me out of the program, and because I was not listed as the user on the website account I made, when we attempted to call in to get the issue rectified, we were told we had to purchase a second license. When my husband explained that I am the one using the product as the designer, but he's the one that sells the pools, my husband was told that because we are both using the program (we are not, and clearly the customer service rep misunderstood what it is my husband was saying), we can not use Structure Studios anymore without purchasing a second license. read more

3 Things. 1. This company will stand behind its single-user license until you want to quit. What does this mean? it means, that if you hire/Fire a designer. you will have to purchase another. it means if you have your CEO download and test the software to implement it into a new sales system, then transfer it to an actual designer. you will have to purchase another. There is not an onboarding process that openly teaches you this as it would defer clients and they would rather stick you with this news after you are forced to buy it than during the intake process. so a license is secretly double the price because this information isn't shared and they pull desktop user data, Which is also a Big Red Flag for me. 2. As Stated above. We like several others signed up with this software. transferred the license purchased to the actual Designer, With options to transfer posted on our dashboard, and this started the process of this bad review. The Support Staff are children that proceeded to laugh at me over the phone while I was angrily voicing that my account had been suspended, that I had input a ticket 4 business days prior with no contact, and that they were holding up more than a Million Dollars worth of designs/estimates that needed to go out. Here we are, Running Pool Companies, slinging dirt, taking on the risk, In the trenches of business and these guys think laughing and smirking at that despair with the only option of " ill enter a ticket " after this option was voiced that it had already been done and we were past our response time. The Manager steps in, who is the Muscle, and proceeds to give you the only option of ill keep your money and shut down your account or you can purchase another license. 3. as previously stated, This business is run by children. I can almost find Thousands of reviews of people complaining about being swindled and their response isn't to fix the onboarding, or to Code The restriction into the software to prevent user error, OR EVEN INVESTIGATE TO WHAT HAS HAPPENED AND right the situation. They would rather laugh at your Business for Failing to produce the money to be able to provide their payment for the subscription and look at their clients like we are idiots. If I could give a negative review, I would. I hired a new employee that had used the software prior and talked it up. After 2 days they froze the account and said we needed multiple keys. 1 for the new employee (at my company) , 1 for the new employees' old company, and 1 for the new employee's old assistant (that does not work for me). The also stated they had no "refund Button" and that they knew prior that they were actively committing credit card fraud by freezing the account and not giving a refund for future services already charged but not provided. They told me to take it up with my "Credit card company" I know a spot I will be visiting on my next trip to Nevada. Don't expect any customer service from these guys. In June 2022 our company signed up with Structure Studio. As the business manager I sign our company up with all programs that we use. We have one designer who uses this program. We called in to find out about adding the program to another computer for the same user. We were told that we would need to add another license to add the program to another computer. With no explanation, this phone call with this one question triggered Structure Studio to evaluate our account. With no further communication, on October 18, 2022 we received an email with the following information: It has been detected that your account is being used by more than one user. Just click here to add the additional membership If you believe someone is using your account without permission, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Otherwise, your account will be suspended on October 25,2022. Thank you. As the business manager I read this email with some distress. We only have one person accessing this account. At no time were we told about reassigning the user and I didn't realize that we needed to reassign the account to the designer when she started. I have no idea how calling in and asking about using the program on another computer would trigger this response from Structure Studios. After calling in again to find out what this email is about, we were told that we could not do anything with our account. We were told it is in review and we were not allowed to reassign to another user at that point. No explanation as to why. No option to correct the issue on our end. We called in again to get more clarity since we couldn't imagine this was the customer service you were providing. No one has explained to us who the other person is who is accessing our account or why we cannot reassign the account. Today, October 24 we received a call back and were told that we were not allowed to reassign the access and that our account was being cancelled. Our only option is to pay another $2000+ to get another license. We don't need another license we just need to reassign the account from me, the business manager, to our designer. To be clear had I known that I needed to do that before I would have. We were also told that we can have access to the program on two computers, which was the original question we asked. This is extortion. We paid a lot of money to use this program. We have projects that will now be on stand still due to this terrible customer service. There is a step missing in how you process this type of situation. You should be reaching out to say "we noticed some activity on your account that indicates that you may need to reassign or add a new license. You have 5 business days to rectify this situation. Reach out with any questions" In the end you have let us know they would rather not have our business then let us reassign. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen with any company- and I deal with lots of companies. We planned to work with you for many years. Nowhere is that requirement clearly stated. You can download and run their trial (which gives you a sample of a majority of the features), but can't the run actual software? That's messed up. Every "1 Star" you see on this software company is correct. The customer service is terrible. We were treated so rudely and they didn't want to work with us. At the time, we were paying $400 a year and now they want $800 per MONTH. Structure Studios said we need more users/accounts. We pay for 3 users, and have 3 office staff. They said you need more accounts - where does that make sense. All they want is your money! Please don't do it! Our landscape business found a different program, Realtime Landscaping Pro. We love it! And the personnel and help in the office is not friendly at all and that's a whole other story. I signed up for three months couldn't use software so supposedly they canceled me. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!! and that is saying allot if you know me. My wife (Business Partner/finance officer) the account holder for structure studios received an email from structure studios stating that they have detected a second user and will lock our account if we do not pay for a second user. We have only ever had one user for the program our office assistant/designer. Yes I tried to use the program when we first purchased it in 2018, I found it was too hard for me to use so a couple years later we hired an office assistant and added designer to her title for structure studios. My wife has never used the program and I never touched it after my first attempt at understanding it. Apparently this is a violation of their terms and they are locking our access to the program. We tried to see if they would let us transfer the license to our designer but James refused do so, our only option was to pay $1,000's more to add a second user. They could not provide us with any proof of a second user and they were unwilling to share any information about what their security team discovered. We can not cancel or transfer our license to our designer, after paying this company tens of thousands of dollars for us to have a dozen pool designs done they treat there customers like crap. After this experience I googled reviews on this company, turn out this is a very common theme for them. We will be discontinuing use of their program, this is their loss and not ours. It appears that they have done this same thing to hundreds of other small business like ours, we have researched for other pool design software companies. We have found several that get better reviews for a fraction of the price and will be choosing one soon. Save yourself the headache and heartache and go with another company because this company does not care about its customers and James will treat you like crap. read more

They have a scam that they charge you $165 a month, wait until you are up and running, then find reasons to upcharge you for extra users. When you try to speak to someone, you get nowhere. DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!! THE WORST PROGRAM IVE EVER USED!!!!! I purchased this program for $2000 ( yearly fee) which was steep. after 7 months I finally got around to using the program, on day one I tried to log in but couldn't because my father is the one that actually downloaded it on his computer. I called customer service to find out how to get the program on my computer so I can actually put it to use, after following what the rep said to do step by step I finally got the program on my computer. After 1 hr of playing around on the program Structure Studios locked me out of the account and when I called to see why they told me they canceled account for putting the program on my computer (which is exactly what I told the previous rep I was doing). They canceled my account and stole my money and refused to refund me or even let me put the account back on the previous computer. The Rep "james" was arrogant and rude. Now i'm out $2000 for doing what the rep told me to do. Again Steer clear of this company there are plenty of way betters programs with competent employees. I've been using this company for many years and would have given five starts up until today when I had a very negative experience. My company was some of the first people to sign up for Structure Studios in California nearly 15 years ago. Whenever I've needed help, I've been able to call and get great help. Until last week. I was suddenly locked out. Called, they said they would look into it, when I spoke to them, James told me that my account was flagged because it detected another person using the system. He stated that we would have to add an additional user in order to unlock the account. The additional person the system detected could only have been my wife who occasionally types in a few items on the construction plan. We were never warned or told that this wasn't allowed. 95% of the work is done by me and 100% of the design work is done by me, my wife just occasionally hangs out and types a little bit near the end. If we had known this wasn't allowed, we wouldn't have done it. So then we asked James if we could just stop doing that. He said no, it had already been flagged and we would have to pay for another CD user key moving forward forever now? This was very confusing to us. I understand the purpose behind this policy. I don't share my CD key with any other designers. I don't feel like I was doing anything wrong, but James continued to tell me that I was. I told him that moving forward, I would be the only one using it, but that wasn't good enough. I asked then to speak to someone higher up. He told me no. He wouldn't even give me an email address. I felt like he was holding me and my business hostage. He wouldn't unlock the account until I agreed to sign up and pay for an additional CD key that will never be used. My wife is not a designer! She couldn't draw a pool if she had to, she just types fast. I felt like I was treated very poorly. After years of using this program, it was a low blow. When I got on to google this and found so many other reviews from people who were basically saying the same thing, I decided to leave a review about my own experience. Again, I understand the need to keep people from sharing their CD key and abusing the system. But I don't feel like that's what I was doing. Not good. I work for large landscape, construction company, we had hoped to partner with Structure Studios to use their design software to create all of our designs. We do many designs throughout the year and we were looking for a reliable software with good customer service. We did not find that here. We paid for the highest package and a license, I am the designer here at the company but I had my assistant setup my account for me. Since they setup my account and not me they said they were the only authorized user for the account so when I called in to change that the locked out account and said we needed to purchase another license since now we had "two people" using the account. That was false, I was the only use but since someone else had setup the account and never used the program. we called in 4 times trying to resolve but but not a single person or manager would do anything about this and just kept telling us to purchase another license. very disappointed in this company and the way they handle things. We didn't get a refund despite only using the account for a couple of days and they would not unlock our account until we purchased another license even if we only had one user. would not recommend to anyone. read more

Member since 2013!! I'm a one man show outdoor contractor that has used this software for 10 years! I've had issues with the software but stuck with it since there are not many options in this space. Loyalty doesn't mean anything to this company apparently! I have purchased multiple laptops just to keep up with their ever changing software requirements. I was not using the software as much as I had in the past due to needing to upgrade computer due to software requirements so we deactivated the account as it was not being used. Recently, I purchased a new $2500 computer they highly recommended on their website January 25, 2024 and reactivated the account . Used it that day for 30 mins and saved the project I was working on. Reopen it Monday and I'm locked out of my account. No problem call customer service! Boy was I wrong! Second time I have ever called them and I am astonished the way I was treated. The first call was January 25th when I was reactivating the account and they had no problem that day reactivating the account and charging my credit card! They say someone has violated our terms. No one has ever touched my computer or done anything with this account other than me personally. They will not explain to me how the terms were misused or violated just sorry can't use our system anymore! Oh, and no refund! Didn't even use the program but 30 mins. The software gets the job done for me, which is the only reason I am giving 2 stars and not one. I am just beside myself after a recently being denied a request from the Structure Studio staff. I have been a subscriber to Pool Studio for over 4 years and was hoping because of my customer loyalty I would be able to request a very temporary modification to my service, but no. Back Story: My friend recently began subscribing to the Viz Terra program and needs a quick crash course in how to effectively utilize the software. He is coming to visit me from out of state for the purpose of me teaching him the software. Because I only have Pool Studio I'm missing some of the functionality that Viz Terra has, so I sought to temporarily upgrade to VIP 3D (which is both programs). I called Structure Studio, explained the situation but I was told they can't offer this kind of temporary adjustment without me paying an additional amount. I was denied. Personally, I fully believe they have the capability to upgrade me temporarily if they really wanted to, I just think they are unwilling to make the effort and/or are too inflexible as a company. read more

Structure Studios is a fantastic tech company who specializes in producing architectural rendering software for pool builders and landscape architects. The software is powerful and intuitive, the customer support is always on point, and they constantly incorporate efficiencies that make the user's experience easier. I've been using the software since 2006, and the maturation of the program has been incredibly extensive. Pool Studio and VizTerra are both crucial tools for people in the pool construction and landscape design industry, and I could not operate my business without the software! read more

I too regret to leave this type of review. I met Noah years ago at the pool show and enjoyed his passion for the pool industry. I have been impressed with the growth of structure studios, and I recently signed up for a trial. I ran into the same issue of them canceling our subscription because they said we have multiple people using the license and demand we add another $165 a month subscription or we can't use the software. How do two people use the same computer / license at the same time? I tried to have an open and honest conversation with the company, but was unable to have any resolve. Funny how this company has the absolute worst yelp reviews and horrible reviews on Houzz and everywhere else except google because google does not filter fake reviews. Structure studios is the most crooked company in the world. Their google reviews were going downhill too so they started writing fake ones to boost their rating. They will absolutely steal your money and screw you over. They think everyone is out to steal from them and it just is not true. I had personally paid for 2 keys for years, one for my desktop and one for my laptop, just so I would not be "stealing" from them. When I went out of town and did not want to travel with my laptop, I transferred my laptop key to someone else's laptop and it said I had to change the name. So I put it under someone else's name and it still didn't work. I then tried one more name and for some reason it worked. I was able to design while out of town. When I got back home I transferred the key back to my laptop. They immediately shut down my account until I called them. They demanded I pay for TWO MORE KEYS, 4 total now, for one person. They said I had to buy two more keys for the names of the people I used, who do not even work for me or with me in any way, or they would shut down my account. I of course am not going to pay $800 a month for just myself. So they shut down my account. Then they started shutting down the account of my family when my family owns different companies and have nothing to do with me. This people are honestly sick. I have been speaking with an attorney and considering bringing a class action lawsuit against them with all the other people they have screwed over. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Their customer service team, manager and everyone else I spoke with was less than desirable. I asked to speak to the general manager or owner and was told they don't accept calls and speak to customers. As a business owner, I couldn't imagine having those business practices in place. We've been a loyal customer for years, followed the protocol asked of us as our sale representative was going out on an extended leave of absence and transferred the license to the business owner while he is out on leave. Now our account has been locked and the manager states he can do nothing about it; we have to purchase 2 additional licenses for a total of 3 licenses for the duration of our account in order to reactivate it although only ONE person is designing. I've never been more displeased with a company and their business practices. It took me calling everyday for 5 days to finally speak with the so called manager who was less than helpful. I could never receive a call back. I'm hoping this review reaches the owner because I would want to know if it were my company.
