I'm really struggling to write this because I really enjoyed doing business with this family owned company. They are so nice and I loved the selection. I even loved the 4 rugs I purchased, but my intention was to buy rugs that were going to last without failing. Braided rugs were historically sturdy and rather indestructible with few exceptions. My experience was always wool rugs but for 3 of my rugs, I chose the Olefin because they were going to be in my kitchen and the option of washing them was appealing. I even purchased a large drum washer with no agitator just so I could safely wash this type of bulky items. My rugs were all great for about 8 months before I first noticed one of my rugs separating. My job kept me away from home a lot and I couldn't address it right away. Now that I'm home, I found 2 other areas separating on two of the rugs as well as one area fraying. I contacted Stroud over the weekend and got a kind response from them on Tuesday offering to send me a repair kit (pictured). I wasn't sure what to expect but I got a needle and thread. I'm a 60 year old man, just retired from the Army and my expertise is in aviation. I know nothing about sewing and have as much business repairing a rug as Stroud has building working on my jets. I hate to focus on negative reviews when I'm shopping. Generally, I dismiss the bottom 10% just on bitter customers that wanted something for nothing. I have to say that the discrepancies I'm experiencing are shared by several other customers. I hope that Stroud figures out the issues with this but in the mean time, I'll have to take my rugs in to a local company here in St. Louis that specializes in rug repair. They do real good work but they're expensive. read more

I don't know how we found Stroud but we had been looking for a braided rug for a year or more. I stumbled across their web site on the Internet. We knew the size so my wife and I spent about thirty minutes deciding on the pattern and color. It was a week-end day so I left a message on their answering machine which they returned Monday morning. We placed an order and were told a color sample would be mailed to us. When the sample arrived, we called to confirm and our order was put into their production cycle. When it arrived we were pleasantly surprised at the colors - light green with dark green accents. It replaced a brown on brown rug and really makes a difference in our kitchen. We will order again from Stroud. Great product, great service, great communication. read more

We love the Maine blue round rug purchased for our Vermont farmhouse. The olefin looks sturdy but as handsome as traditional wool. Receiving color samples ahead of time gave us confidence. I purchased this rug because it was advertised as machine washable. I recently washed it and it and it fell apart. Don't buy if you want machine washable. I contacted them and they told me to TURN IT OVER. Are they kidding!!! Deceptive advertisement...poor customer service. read more

What a shame , made in America doesn't mean much when it comes to Stroud Rugs , I bought from them assuming I was getting a quality sturdy wool rug ,unfortunately it began to fall apart after 1 season of laying on the floor in front of the fireplace , we will sew/repair it ourselves as we cant afford to throw a 100 dollar 1 year old rug in the trash , what the crap , MADE in AMERICA DISAPOINTMENT .....sadly most of their positive reviews are from people that reviewed product based on how good their rug looked the day they got them in the mail , { why cant you just make a good rug } these mom & pop companies always start out great and start growing and hiring employees that " care not as much " and quality is the first aspect to go down the toilet , production rises quality falls .....customers satisfaction looses out to increased production, Again ... read more

I just received a stroud rug today approx 3x5 olefin. I ordered it cut to size, they call it custom. The rug has no heft, and is thinner than my bath towels. Its weight is ounces, not even a pound. Stroud representative said that I could not return a "custom" rug. I'm sure it says that on their website somewhere but I was so excited for this rug, I trusted that it was going to be a high quality American made rug. I can't imagine this rug lasting more than a year. I'm sick about it, the rug cost $166.00. Beware, very thin, lightweight rug in olefin. read more

I had purchased 2 rugs fir our motor home. The sticking between the braids can loose and I sent the rugs back fir repair. I was contacted by the ladies at Stroud ans they told me they would remake thevrugs and ship them back to me. This is OUTSTANDING product support and customer service. If you are looking for a braided rug, there is no reason to look anywhere else. With all the options available for custom rugs, there is really no excuse not to purchase from Stroud. We had been looking at rugs for weeks, but the colors and different fabrics were a challenge shopping online. Stroud Braided Rugs offers the option of getting a sample by mail so you can see accurate color and feel the fabric. We chose olefin. The sample came quickly. The people at Stroud offered outstanding customer service, until I finally received my rugs and tried to contact them with a "complaint" (more like a suggestion). I tried calling and also sent an email...nothing. So my review is as much about the poor customer service as it is about the product. Regarding the rugs, based on Stroud's recommendation I purchased the synthetic fabric for both rugs. They appear to be well made but the synthetic fabric is super lightweight, so they don't stay put on the floor even though I purchased the recommended rug mat. I've had a couple people trip on them because the edge lifts up with the slightest contact with the toe of a shoe. My request when trying to contact Strouds was to tell them about the problem and suggest that they add this to the description of the synthetic fabric on their website. But because they have not returned my call or email, they won't even take the suggestion. I am disappointed in both the product as well as their approach to customer care. read more

Stroud Braided rugs are the best. My first one is about 5 years old and does not show any signs of wear. Moved to a new house and needed a rug for in front of the kitchen sink. Got another Stroud. I ordered an 8x10 oval rug for our downstairs den which has black and white tile.. I'm so pleased with the solid red I chose. I found this company to be friendly and easy to work with. I shopped for months before making my decision. The quality of the rug was great and the color was true to the sample I received. Ordered an 11x13 oval braided rug and the braids started separating from each other within 3 months. Company would repair for free but would not pay for shipping which is quite expensive for a rug of this size and weight. Would not recommend buying from this supplier unless there will be minimal foot traffic and the primary purpose of the rug is simply aesthetic. They claimed that the threading must have been "cut" with high heels or an unusually treaded shoe but in fact the rug has only been subjected to normal foot traffic with normal treaded shoes. My wife doesn't even own a pair of high-heel shoes, let alone where them around in the house. Tried to buy American Made but the quality is sub-standard, such a disappointment! read more

The rug was of very poor quality and I would give it a Zero if I could. The stitching came out in less than a month but because I was over the 20 days they would not return it. I love my new rug! Stroud's craftsmanship and customer service are amazing. When I placed the order, I had concerns about the timing of delivery because I was going out of town and didn't want it to sit on my porch while I was gone. Not only did they get it out to me in an incredibly short amount of time, they also offered to hold it for me and delay shipping if necessary. They also sent me multiple samples of potential patterns and colors so I could be sure of my choice. I'm going to order another rug for my entryway soon. Can't recommend them enough! read more
