Visited the Eagle Nest nearby and decided to take a detour to head back, used Yelp to find me a local restaurant. Sat outside, the service was a bit slow, I think is a European thing, however, I was blown away by the German sausage. My German friends always brag about eating sausages back home and I didn't understand why. I am not a big sausage fan in the States but the one that they make here is much better. Also had a fried Salmon roll it was very good, but the Beef roll was not that good, it was a bit dry and tough eat. Great experience here and I will always refer back to this spot when I think of German food.

We didn't have a single bad meal there but nevertheless developed a hunkering for some nice steaks after eating Austrian food for several days. A quick search on Yelp led us to this American style steakhouse not far from our bed and breakfast in Tirol. Based on the great reviews, we decided to try it out and the restaurant did not disappoint! We arrived kind of late on a Friday evening, without prior reservations and the place was busy, but got lucky as two people were just leaving. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and talk about Americana, there were a bunch of Native American and Wild West artifacts that were displayed on the walls as well other things that reminded one of the good old USA. The interior otherwise felt like a high end steakhouse in the States. They had a wide selection of different steaks, salades and sides available. They also had a nice selection of beers and bourbons. We enjoyed some excellent T-bone steaks, with an almost buttery texture but crispy exterior, and full of flavor. They were about as good as you can get them even compared to steaks in the States, salads and fries were great also. In addition, we ordered a green bean side dish which contained enough green beans to feed 4 people. The portions were quite big and the prices quite reasonable, especially considering the quantity and quality. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back here when we are in the area again (though I would make a reservation next time)! I liked how they offered several salad options too, as I was missing having a big salad after traveling in Germany and Austria. So we went elsewhere. We went back the next night at an off-hour and while the food was fine, I would have been highly disappointed had we waited in line for 30 minutes, let alone 2 or more hours. This restaurant has a prime location and a strong online reputation. And perhaps our experience was impacted by the fact that we went at an off-hour. Still, there are much better options, with equal character, available across the city. Consider branching out -- and check my other Salzburg reviews for other alternatives.

We also had a Salzburger Nockerl, which is a classic Austrian soufflé dessert that is considered a culinary symbol of Salzburg.
