Jalpesh shared his experience and was courteous while explaining the details like how the session will go on. He is pretty flexible looking at requirement of young children who are coming to this place to study mathematics. Shrishti is a great teacher with a firm voice and making sure young kids have the focus while doing the exercises. Yes, there are other teachers too but not all of them are high school students. I worked hard with him prior to 5th grade to get him competent in solving simple expressions with fractions. By the time school started, all this learning had somehow leaked out of his sneakers and disappeared, to my distress as well as his teacher's. Because of his math reluctance and poor retention, my son would have been starting 6th grade with a significant disadvantage. His mother and I wanted to help him catch up using a teaching service. We researched Kumon and found that, although cheaper, the focus is on all subjects and not exclusively math, and that the procedure is to have pupils do huge stacks of worksheets with relatively little teacher supervision. This would not have been a good match for my son. Leena's Mathnasium is exactly not like Kumon in that the student-teach ratio is about 1 to 1. She begins with a thorough evaluation of the student's existing math capability, she customizes a training plan for the student, and she executes the plan. At the end of the program there is a no-charge second evaluation, and what do you know? My son's math skills had significantly improved. Lastly, Leena did a pile of extra work researching math topics taught in my son's new school district, and tried hard to motivate him and prepare him for his new school Excellent work, Leena. I would recommend your service to a friend without hesitation.

From the very beginning, we appreciated how accommodating Anthony was given our limited time and how forthcoming he was with the information we needed to make our decision. Kyra was phenomenal! Although our kids were among many of her students, Kyra was so attentive and committed to their experience, helping clarify their interests in majors and helping them give voice to essays that were authentic to who they are- this was definitely not a cookie cutter experience! She was always supportive and well organized so our kids never felt overwhelmed or pressed for time. When we expressed concerns about the pathways for a particular major, Kyra put together an impressive presentation on the various options convincing us this pathway is fitting for our son. Kyra kept us in constant communication so we didn't need to worry about any hiccups or missed deadlines. We are so lucky to have found Ilumin Education to work with; they made the college application process seamless and actually enjoyable! We know that their involvement was key to our children being accepted to their "reach" schools! Thank you, Kyra, Anthony, and the entire team at Ilumin Education!

We've been enrolled for over one year, come religiously twice a week, and my kids still love coming here. The staff knows how to motivate kids and keep learning fun. When kids feel happy, passionate and energized about learning, it makes a big difference and Kobad and his team of talented tutors have cracked the code in doing this. I have 2 different types of learners, and Mathnasium knows how to cater to each child's individualized needs. I have one child who has always been super strong at math, understands concepts quickly and retains information well. Through the efforts of Mathnasium as well as our own support at home, this student is now in the accelerated math program at school. My other student is a little less diligent, often makes careless errors and is more of an average math student. However, he is now in the top math group too for his grade. Kids may do their math homework here and the tutors will help them, but I don't usually have my kids do this unless they are feeling overwhelmed with the amount of schoolwork they have that day. Usually, I want to spend our time there learning Mathnasium's curriculum to make sure kids are getting incremental learning opportunities in addition to their school's content. While my kids go to an excellent school, I feel math in CA feels a little behind compared to other states (esp east coast states) and certainly behind that of many other countries. Mathnasium gives me peace of mind that my kids are being appropriately challenged. My parent philosophy on Math is that just like anything else, the more practice and exposure you have, the better you become. Overall, I am very happy esp because the kids never complain and are very happy to go twice a week. They have made friendships with the tutors and speak about their Mathnasium "friends" often at home. We highly recommend this center.

My son was struggling with his school work in 8th grade: he was disorganized and confused, and had such a backload of assignments he didn't know where (or how) to start. I tried for months to get him on track myself, helping him with his homework, preparing for quizzes and tests. Nothing seemed to work. In a moment of desperation I asked around for recommendations and a number of neighbors suggested Lumen Learning Center. I talked to Louise and she put my mind at ease. She worked with both my son and his school, and came up with a plan of action. With infinite patience she (and Melissa and Gabe) guided and taught him, and slowly things began to turn around. After months of hard work my son finally graduated from Middle School, thanks to Lumen Learning Center. Louise took a boy who was unmotivated and full of self-doubt, and prepared him for academic life in High School. I cannot recommend their services enough.

She made an assessment of my daughter and based on her personality, matched her with Natalie. Natalie is one of the most outgoing people you will ever meet! She takes extra care working with my daughter, who has an extremely limited attention span. She makes herself available throughout the week via email, phone or text at no extra charge. She always puts in extra time for us and is extremely flexible with scheduling. In all, I am so glad I found this place. All of the tutors are friendly and they treat you like family! We tried a couple of other places before coming here and each one felt like a business. This place feels like home! They have good Wi-Fi via Xfinity and I can get work done while I wait. I highly recommend Lumen for their expertise and care.

Review from my son: Zach Pava played a major role in my…read morecollege admissions process. Not only was his college essay feedback on 15+ essays extremely insightful, I felt that the manner in which he set up a schedule with deadlines and tasks was more helpful. He always kept in touch, especially during October and November, and always responded promptly. Zach set up mock interviews for me with other Insight counselors to practice for college admissions interviews, which did not count against my counseling hours! Also, the fact that Zach primarily worked over Skype was actually more convenient, since I did not have drive to the Cupertino office all the time for the counseling; instead, I could just do it over Skype in my room.

I am the eldest in my family, and a first-generation American, so my family and I were unseasoned and largely out of our comfort zone when the time came to begin applying to universities. I found Zach through Insight, and he was a tremendous help to me, offering up suggestions about colleges I may be interested in applying to, prepping me for college tours and visits, editing my personal statements and supplemental essays, and offering me any guidance or support I needed throughout the long process. While I was a bit shy and lacking in confidence, Zach saw my strengths and potential, and constantly motivated me to challenge myself, ensuring that my applications reflected my best attributes. With Zach as my counselor, I never once felt stressed or overwhelmed about writing my applications, as Zach planned out deadlines for all components of my applications, ensuring that I would have everything in on time. Zach's genuine concern for my well-being and future was palpable throughout the application process, and after being accepted into Emory, my top choice school, Zach continued to be supportive of my aspirations. He was always more than happy to answer any questions I had about college and the future beyond. I highly recommend Zach not only as a college counselor, but also as a trusted mentor. His help was, and continues to be, an invaluable resource for me and my family!
