I had two surgeries done by Dr. Stremmel here, and the staff are very nice. It's a very clean facility.

I just called about my elderly mama who was admitted yesterday and the desk nurse (unit secretary maybe? Someone who couldn't even pass the CNA exam?) gave me such a hard time and had such wax in her ears she could not be bothered to find her common humanity and check my phone number or have a doctor call my number (registered with them--and they did this last night she was admitted) to give me an update on my mama. She was an arrogant woman who, upon hearing my frustration, actually snickered as she said "You do not need to yell, sir." Well, I will yell. I will yell. I will shout. I will scream it from the hilltops that RMC hires some genuine sadists who relish the small power they have the most vulnerable and their families. If someone from RMC should see this, put it together and give me a call. That petty tin god working the phones has been given to great a responsibility and needs to be put in charge of emptying bedpans because that's about what her attitude is!

It has been 2 hours and I'm still waiting in lobby for a room/cubicle for a possible broken toe with 9 year old. The only thing they did was her vitals. Then we have to sit with the sick patients because there is no well area. This hospital is the WORST when it comes to patient care!!

Throughout my visit with fever and chest pain and abdominal pain and extremely dehydrated, I got blood drawn and a chest X-ray with a CT on my abdominal area. I waited. And waited... and still waited. When I was finally called back I was placed in a room with a man as my roommate with a curtain that didn't block us completely so we got to see and hear everything about each other. Total strangers. ...I was there 9 hours, given a short for pain, a pill for upset stomach and discharged. No IV for hydration, no antibiotics even though I was told by Justin the nurse with no badge for identification told me it was inflamed or infected. No medication for it and he told my final temp after eating ice, it read 98.3°, can only imagine what it was once the ice chips were gone. I'll tell you 101.4. I threw up, projectile vomiting, and explosive diarrhea that has a smell and is foamy and slimy as soon as I got home after 1 AM . So here it is Tuesday, waiting on Dr offices to call me back. Maybe they will take better care of me than the staff of RMC in Anniston who constantly had food delivered, door dashes for different lunch times and 20-30 minutes were nobody is at the front desk or coming in or out of the sliding glass doors that lead into the medical ER. Glad nobody had a severe crisis in the waiting room that would have required medical care. Shame RMC. From Retired Nurse from Cali visiting your town.

The man wouldn't allow us to explain this. The volunteer would keep being nasty. When another person was finally there who worked for the hospital we tried to speak to them to explain the situation. The volunteer would cut me off butting in being rude, make nasty snide remarks, insult us, tell us how he would show us what rude really is, and talk ill of the military. When the lady was asked to have the man stop or have the man go else where while we spoke so he would stop his rudeness, she had a nasty tone when stating no because he is an employee and how they don't cater to military. Yet they seem to allow a "volunteer" to verbally start a battle and come at someone with complex PTSD who not once came at them.

However! The doctors, PA's, nurses and staff are worth it!!! Dr. Gaines called me on his day off to ask me how I was doing! Dr. Snead came into my room, after I had already seen the PA, on my first appointment to introduce himself and welcome me to the area. (My family just moved here from Augusta, GA). Almost every time (because sometimes they are extremely busy) I call up to the Anniston or Oxford office I get a friendly voice who answers and my question answered or a call back within a timely manner with said question answered. You need to understand CARES clinics are busy for a reason... I will wait because I do not want to go anywhere else. I have the best doctors and PA's here!!

I was the second person through the door of Anniston Cares at 7:30. I was expecting a Covid test in the back even though I had a negative home test last night. After 30 minutes they swabbed me and said they would call. After 45 minutes I tried to call them. No answer. I walked around to the front and asked if they had forgotten me. She said I couldn't be in the building unless they had negative test results. Back to the car. I asked a passing swabber what was going on that I had waited an hour and a half. She replied that they should have told me to go home and someone would call me. Still waiting. Why is it that I can go anywhere I want without a mask except their office? Why does it take over an hour to get Covid test result---- make that almost 2 and a half now. Why won't they accept my home test result from 8 hours earlier? I have been going to Cares for over 30 years, but I will be looking for a new doctor.

He then let me go home and I had to go to ambulatory care at the hospital Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri and then to the ER on Sat and Sun for IV calcium and potassium...this went on for 6 WEEKS!!! He never once saw me again and sent his nurse practitioner in to take my stitches out. He turned it over to his wife (she's a doctor too) to set my iv doses. Well after 57 IV sticks (and me begging for a central line that he declined when called) and 6 weeks of the same mess, I went to Birmingham. Dr, Bateman promised my parathyroid was still there and would pick back up in within a few weeks...is what he said. I went to the head of endocrinology at UAB and he said there was no presence of a parathyroid!! They did scans and extensive bloodwork. So every time I get a fever or bad stomach bug I end up in the hospital and I have had many complications because it causes low calcium (hypocalcaemia). I never had blood pressure issues until this and because of the parathyroid issue it causes me to have high blood pressure, well now my kidneys are failing due to all of this. I was told I couldn't sue beacuse it was a risk associated with the thyroidectomy, even though he never pointed that out to me. Not only have I had many years now of being in and out of the hospital for this issue, I have had seziures due to low calcium, concussions from the fall due to seizure, teeth falling out, now in renal failure...thanks to Dr. Bateman. I WOULD NOT SEND EVEN SOMEONE I DISLIKE TO THIS MAN!!!
