I've been on a bit of a burger quest in Atlanta lately. And this has been on my list for a while…read morenow. Went on a Saturday night and this place was packed out. The small parking lot was full and lucked out with a spot on the street. I opted to order at the bar so I could enjoy a beer and where it is full service - otherwise it is ordering at the register when you walk in. Service at the bar was friendly, efficient and attentive. I ended up with a double beef burger (each patty is 1/4 pound) at $9, pimento cheese (.75 cents) and Grindhouse Sauce which was in the 1000 island / Mac sauce territory. I was undecided on a side so lucky for me there is a "Frings" option of 1/2 onion rings and fries ($5.75). The burger was a little on the dry side even with the toppings but the potato roll made it a little more interesting. The onion rings were great and can't go wrong with crinkle cut fries. Cold Tropicalia on draft ($8) served by friendly bar staff made it a really great experience. Even though this is not my favorite burger, the sides, the drink options and the overall vibe of the place with excellent service still will make this a place I could visit again. Maybe giving a different burger a try instead of a BYO like I did the first time out.

Order our food, take a seat, food is brought to us and it's a decent burger. However there are no condiments on the table and no one who works there in sight. Slowly but surely, we can see that the establishment is closing and we are trying to wrap it up. I know that the folks I was with will be back as they loved it, for me, it was okay, but not something I'm running back to.

Best smashburger ever!…read more And yes, it's located inside a gas station--but don't let that fool you. You order inside, and they'll bring your food out to your car or to the picnic tables out back under the shade. And the standards for this type of business concept are normally belooow the basement. But I figured we'd stop in while running errands in the area and grab something to munch on. I saw that they fry with tallow and I'm always on the hunt for some beef fat fried goodness. Now it's a rarity to spend less than $10 on a good burger these days in ATL, and even more of a rarity to feel that said burger was worth your coins. I side-eyed their $6 single but figured I'd give it a shot. Man, NFA proves that a burger doesn't have to be "gourmet" to still be damn good. The sauces, mustard, juices from the beef, slight sweetness from the potato roll, the crunch of the pickle... it all combines into something simplistic in nature yet magical. I usually expect this level of good (and inexpensive) in South GA but they brought that small town flair to the suburbs of Dunwoody. I hate crinkle fries normally but the decision to fry them in tallow makes me a believer. Simple, classic menu. No frills. Hot and fast. Great customer service, too. Just wait in your car and an amicable young adult (of which they seem to largely employ) will bring your order out to your car or to their picnic tables in the back. $17 for two to eat... in this day and age?!?! This place puts fast food burger chains to SHAME.

I loved the caramelized jalepeno slices since they added it beautiful hint of spicy sweetness to the dish. The bread has a nice chew and it does not get soggy fast. - CONS: Not that special. I dont know why it's "korean" since it tasted like a normal cheesesteak but with a few jalapenos. I also wish they added in more jalapenos (I got like 3). 2) Garlic Fries with Ranch: - PROS: Very nice texture with a crispy outside and fluffy inside that is not too dense. The flavor comes from the garlic mince that is on top. The ranch is like a mixture of an aioli and tartar sauce (I think they make it in house, correct me if I'm wrong). - CONS: Inconsistent texture as some of the fries were dense but a few had that good hollow crisp bite. Quite oily too. Overall, I enjoyed the cheesesteak but would probably skip the fries next time. I do believe it is good especially the bread. I don't think it is worth all the hype it gets, but it is good.

I liked that the fries were crisped to perfection but found to be a tad salty. The onion rings were delicious. I enjoyed the strawberry milkshake too! It wasn't too sweet or heavy. The "sauce bar" is essentially just a ketchup dispenser, and the bar won't allow you to run a tab--even when you offer to leave a credit card. Unfortunately, the burger I ordered was cooked well beyond well-done, which was a major disappointment. On top of that, nearly everyone working seemed to be counting down the seconds until they could leave. Honestly, I couldn't blame them; the overall atmosphere made it seem like the staff wasn't enjoying their work environment. One positive: the fries were hot, fresh, and actually very good. I really hope management takes a serious look at this location. Improving the work environment for employees and having stronger management and oversight could make a huge difference in the customer experience. I didn't feel like drinking before walking in but the service once I sat down at the bar made it hard not to partake... twas excellent! They had hella specials on a Sunday evening, many of which I can't remember currently but were expertly recited by our main bartender. Now I DO remember that their well drinks were on special for $6 because that's the deal that I thoroughly enjoyed for my 2-ish hour stay ;) The ambience is very grown (21+ thank GOD) but also quirky af! I didn't notice the giant lucky pen*s for a minute even though I was seated directly in front of it at the bar LOL. They host a shot challenge at its base that requires "no hands" and they really go out of the way to get everyone involved when folks are proving their.... skills. It's fun to watch but also nerve-wracking! The environment is lively (but not loud) and dive-y and the playlist was SOOO good with great song diversity, from My Chemical Romance to T-Pain to the Isley Brothers. It was the perfect nightcap. Now the food that we ordered this night was not overwhelmingly good but certainly not bad. To be fair, this spot is known for their burgers and neither of my party got one this time around. But the half salad I got was GIANT, so big that I had to double check with the food runner that it was indeed a half. Filled me right up for the low-low. The husband wanted to opt for something lighter too and got their Cuban sandwich with plantain... nowhere near authentic, but good enough for the moment. He's a certified Caribbean and thought the plantain was actually not bad, so there's that. The prices are reasonable. What takes this place up a notch is the clear organization to their operations, the way the team works and communicates together to strive for efficiency in service, and the neighborhood familiarity that this Atlanta institution emanates. I previously only when to the Vortex in L5P which has now shuttered I believe. It was a completely different vibe. But I have a feeling this spot is immovable. It is truly a neighborhood gem to meet up and have strong, affordable drinks and bomb ass burgers... next time I'll be sure to dabble in the latter. Sidenote: bathrooms were pretty decent and clean for a busy bar environment... I was surprised!

Servers have always been very nice and helpful demystifying some of the more obscure items on the menu. Have never been here with bar service but there is a whole bar there (that has never been open, but just maybe we're going at weird times. Who knows.) The place is very casual again with the bar in the back, serve yourself water and condiments in the middle, and you bus your own table. No pretentions of being fancier than it is. The burgers are excellent with good seasoning on the patties. Not smash burgers which a lot of other places are here. The chili/spicy salt for the fries is delicious and their apps are great with the burgers too. Fry order is gigantic and often enough for two with sharing. The fried cheese burger was a little underwhelming, but regular burgers with cheese and toppings are amazing. Wings and Korean fried chicken are also on offer but we have never tried. Recommended for a slightly elevated burger without having to dine in and do table service.

I ordered the insanely great fried chicken and it came with coleslaw and a biscuit. I also had the potato hash on the side that was killer. We ordered some shareable plates of food including the deviled eggs trio, and the scrumptious cornbread covered in butter. The mixed drinks looked amazing although they didn't have bloody Mary's on a Sunday g brunch afternoon for some reason but I just ordered a Guinness to go with my food anyway it's a beautiful restaurant just like the old location and the service was impeccable.

We had brunch at Holeman and Finch Public House yesterday (Saturday). Everything was outstanding…read more This restaurant continues to be an Atlanta institution and one of the best in the city. Holeman and Finch is known for its burger, and deservedly so, but I can't stress enough how good the other food and drink are here. Looking at the current list of Atlanta restaurants in the Michelin Guide, I think Holeman and Finch deserves to be included. I wonder why they got snubbed. Holeman and Finch relocated to Colony Square in Midtown in February 2023. The restaurant validates parking in the Colony Square garage for two hours. We stayed just over two hours and ended up paying $6. I like to enter and exit the garage via Peachtree St NE. There's also an entrance/exit on 14th St NE, next to The Starling hotel. We used to go to the original location in Brookwood/South Buckhead circa 2010 when only 24 burgers were made per night and released at 10pm. Holeman and Finch existed in that location from 2008 to 2020. It was quite the Yelp hot spot: https://www.yelp.com/biz/holeman-and-finch-atlanta-2 This new location at Colony Square is way more spacious and looks great. There's indoor and outdoor (covered and uncovered) seating. The atmosphere is that of a modern, upscale pub. It's nice. Reservations can be booked on OpenTable, so get those dining points. Our server said the brunch menu was served until 4pm. Here's what my wife and I had: Drinks: * H&F Bloody Mary ($14) * Iced Tea - half sweet, half unsweet ($5) Graze: * Naturally Served Oysters ($5 each) - cocktail sauce, mignonette, buttered saltines, horseradish - Lowcountry Cups - Charleston, SC - Dukes of Topsail - Topsail Sound, NC - Dixon Point - New Brunswick, Canada * Deviled Egg Trio ($9) - classic, country ham, and Pickapeppa mayo * Hand Chopped Sirloin Steak Tartare ($20) - capers, horseradish, egg yolk, chips * Simple Lettuces ($15) - citrus vinaigrette, crisp shallots, fromage blanc, pecans Sandwiches: * H+F Cheeseburger ($28) - certified Angus and Hereford beef, onions, Kraft, fries Plates: * Housemade Scottish Gravlax ($18) - toasted brioche, fried Pantelleria capers, lemon dill clabber * Holeman + Finch Vegetable Plate ($32) - "all that is best from our Southern farms" Dessert: * Sticky Toffee Pudding ($14) - vanilla ice cream Everything, down to the sweet tea, was fantastic. The Bloody Mary was strong and so delicious that I gulped it down. All of the dishes were beautifully plated and finished. The oysters were fresh, superb quality, and cleanly shucked. They forgot the crackers, but that's okay. I highly recommend the deviled eggs. They were perhaps the best we've ever had anywhere. If you're unfamiliar with Pickapeppa, it's a sweet and savory Jamaican brown sauce that is used to make the mayo for this dish. There was nothing "simple" about the Simple Lettuces salad. It was pretty much a perfect, tasty, and refreshing salad. As for the H+F Cheeseburger, it's a classic and continues to be one of the best burgers around. Every bite is just so good, and the ketchup and mustard remain distinct. If you've never had the burger before, get it here or at H&F Burger at Ponce City Market. The Truist Park version isn't the same and I've never tried the Mercedes-Benz Stadium version (the old Turner Field version was legit, though). If you like gravlax, wow - the gravlax here is amazing and really well made. The Vegetable Plate was terrific as well. It featured potatoes, okra, beans, succotash, mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and more with a fried onion ring on top. It's a great dish to share. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was top-notch - exceptional texture and flavor, and perfectly paired with a scoop of dense vanilla ice cream. Our server was Jonathan R. He was friendly and took great care of us. A manager checked on us too.
