Walked in and nobody was there. Finally an old man walked to the front and asks what I need. I asked which shoes do you have in toddler, instead of telling me where, he said for her? And pointed to my daughter. I said yes. In which he replied with does she have socks? and I said no. He said she can't try them on. Still hasn't answered my original question, so I said that's fine, can you show me what you have in toddler sizes?! I looked quickly and walked out. Will not step foot in there again. One of the only places left to get a experienced shoe salesmen to check the right size for our little ones feet. I mean, that's why we are paying a little extra for stride rite brand right? That personal touch. Now that stride rite is basically gone from most malls, you have to shop online or from a dept. Store. Negating that personal touch. Fortunately this store is still open and you will get plenty of help picking out the right shoe and size for your little one. If I could rate the store 0 stars I would. When we walked in no one was in the front we had to say hello several times for someone to come up front. An older man came to the front and practically rushed us out. He just seemed so annoyed someone came in to shop. He was incredibly rude and when asked several times what size shoe my child was he ignored me. I understand that children shoes should have room but I wanted to know his exact size. I've been to the location in Rockville Centre and also in Merrick. I purchased shoes from both stores. And in both stores the owner/man working has been obnoxious, arrogant and rude at best. At RVC the strange bald man insisted my daughter was a size 4.5w but I went to the Merrick location the following day and the argumentative guy says she's a 5 medium. The 5 was falling off of her bc it was so big. When I asked about what was best for the sizing he kept saying "I don't care". What does that even mean for a clerk to say to a customer as if I expected him to be personally invested in my 18 month old's shoes? I was asking about the size and you would think that's kind of the one job that he has. You also have to ask yourself if the clerk is forcing a certain pair of shoes on you maybe that's just all the inventory that they have and they were just not being honest about the size to make a buck. If I wasn't set on getting my daughter a new pair of stride rite's that day I would've just walked out and told this schmuck to kick rocks. read more

I was about to come here with all of my kids to get them fitted and purchase shoes but decided to call first to make sure they'd have what I was looking for. This isn't a Stride Store but a shoe store that carries Stride Rite and before I could finish asking whether they honor the sale the Stride Rite website offers, the employee on the phone told me he has a store full of people and hung up on me! Incredibly helpful and honest staff. I have been here with my kids and had them sized, and the gentleman running the store told me that the shoes my son had were the right size and to bring him back again. He forgo a sale to be honest and earn a repeat customer. I respect that. And, as a result, I shop here often! read more

Went into this store with my two toddler boys to look for brown Stride Rite sneakers. The salesman working in the store measured my younger sons shoe size and didn't even ask me what we were looking for. He immediately went into the back and started grabbing anything in his size. When I told him I was specifically looking for brown stride rite sneakers he returned with 4 boxes of red and blue sneakers. He was very rude. When I was surprised about the blue sneakers costing $50 he took the shoes off my sons feet and stated "I can't help you here". I tried to measure my other sons shoe size and he refused to help me, stating "I sell shoes here, I don't measure feet". It was like a switch flipped with him when I didn't want to purchase the red and blue sneakers. He was so rude I didn't feel comfortable in the store at all. I left but before i did, the salesman made a snarky remark saying "good luck at the stride rite that closed" because I had previously mentioned I used to shop there before it closed. I left and was very happy to order a pair of BROWN STRIDE RITE sneakers online for HALF the price! Will never be going there again. read more
