This is an expensive place to shop but there are prices on n the low end. it's a comfort shoe place and if you want comfortable shoes, well you know, this is the place for it. I love to engage sales associate to see what level they are on. There's levels to sales and there's a developed skill for persuasion for closing a sales/getting a customer to buy or walk out empty handed or to make an actual purchase, one or more shoes. Sometimes it's the customer that knows whether they are buying or walking. Let me explain, briefly! A cordial greeting and offering assistance is key. You have to break the ice. I used to work for Bostonian/ Clark and Bakers Shoes. They had beautiful boots for women. Anyway- I greeted and broke the ice. The person said that they didn't have money to buy. Reading the potential customer - they were staring at the boots for about 5 minutes. I told her, it doesn't cost money to try on a pair of boots. Conclusion, she waked out, boots in hand. Commission sales mind you! On today 1/28/26 one sales rep greeted and broke the ice but did a relay to his associate. So I picked out the shoes that wanted to try. Levels - the customer comes in with one shoe in mind the sales rep should bring other styles close to desired shoe or another color. So I picked the shoes and made his job easy, very easy. One thing he did that I loved, he serviced me giving undivided attention and assisted me with putting on casual socks and help me put on the shoes. I had dress socks on and it gives a different fit. CONCLUSIONS-I walked out with multiple boots in hand. I basically sold myself the boots and scored $10 percent off. There are areas of improvements - if you greet the customer, seat the customer don't pass them off to someone else. Pro tip- aleays ask if there's a promotional sale. In my case. The promo was advertised. I'm a happy camper today willing to.... Inspire more, Yelp more!

I begrudgingly went, and to my shock and surprise, it ended with me loving the shoes I got because it feels like I'm walking on clouds. I don't know if my back or knee feel any better, but my feet sure do !! The shoes don't necessarily flatter my feet or overall look, but when I step into them, I no longer care. Clouds, clouds, and more clouds... is what I feel... and that's fine by me. The sales approach is completely different from what I've been given, which isn't much of anything, to be honest, and these sales associates know their "shit." They really do, and to be further honest, I think that what other Yelpers have viewed as "rude" or "condescending" was just the sales people ripping apart all preconceived ideas and trying to teach us how to TRULY get properly fit for a shoe, be it for walking or running or whatever. It was an education for sure, and I can see why some would be put off by it. I didn't want to hear some of what they said, but they weren't wrong, either, and my feet are happy once again. Maybe I'll order another pair in another color.

Runner's Edge came to mind as my dad and brother had both gotten fittings there before. I went in the middle of a random weekday thinking the store would be less busy, but there were many customers in there being fitted. Jarod was the associate who helped me. He asked questions about my intended use for the shoes and had me try out a few pairs after measuring my feet. He made adjustments and picked different pairs out from the back as I told him how the shoes felt. I landed on the Saucony Guide 19, which was not shoes that I had in mind or come across during my research. But they are super comfy and I love running in them. I saw they had a lot of gels and other running gear in the store. Would love to revisit when I start preparing for longer runs!

The Nordstrom Rack in Garden City, located at The Gallery At Westbury Plaza earns positive marks…read morefrom me for its organized layout and stellar designer finds, though sometimes there are occasional long checkout lines and inconsistent customer service. The store has strong inventory of brand-name shoes and designer handbags. Unlike some discount stores, the clearance racks still feature recognizable high-end brands. It operates like a treasure hunt, meaning if you see something you like in your size, you should grab it immediately. The store is relatively well-organized. The fitting rooms offer great lighting and the parking is usually ample, except on peak holiday or weekend afternoons. I commend floor staff for being kind and helpful. However, I have noted that limited open registers can result in slow or backed-up lines during the weekends.

I noticed a lot of the women's shoes that are on the shelves as of July 2026 are made of man made leather and not many leather options. I know it depends on the time of year but I found this to be quite disappointing especially when a lot of the shoes are $49 and up. With any Nordstrom Rack the inventory can change weekly. I want to put that disclaimer out there. During my recent visit, I did see some dresses in the rack that had some rips. Really visible ones and it was shocking. They were on a sale rack but they were visibly and terribly damaged. When we were in the store, no one greeted us or asked us if we needed assistance. I felt a little bothered by this as it did not seem on brand. We were in the store for about an hour and 15 minutes most recently. It may have been that it was about an hour before closing. When the location was closing, the person was very kind on the intercom and it was so nice. I remember being in Saks 5th Avenue a couple of years ago and they were yelling at customers to get out. The kind goodbye without feeling rushed felt like nice hospitality that would make one want to return to shop. Please note this location is on the second floor and an escalator or elevator is offered to arrive on the second level.
