My son had his surgery scheduled at Strictly Pediatrics on a Thursday morning with 7:30AM arrival. First of, we live up north and were hit with horrendous traffic on our way inspite of being on the toll road. I was afraid, our surgery would have to be rescheduled ao I called the center. The lady who answered was extremely sweet, she told me not to worry, she will make a note and to drive safely. That was a relief for me, I could bear to keep my infant starving for one more night before the surgery. When we reached the center, we were checked in soon enough. And a nurse came to take us to the pre-op. The nurses are God-send. Kept reassuring me everything is fine, my son is in good hands and will be taken care of very well. The doctors and anaestiologist were all great. After the surgery, they walked us through post-op care and they escorted us out. Gave us plenty of time to get ready to leave. Really recommend this center and the staff. read more

This review does not reflect my son's physicians, who are exceptional and use this facility to perform procedures. My feedback is directed solely at the experience with the front-line staff at Strictly Pediatrics Surgery Center. Unfortunately, my experience with the nursing staff who manage the phones was disappointing. I spoke with three different nurses in the days leading up to my infant son's surgery, and each conversation left me feeling more anxious than reassured. They were impatient, unhelpful when I asked questions, and at times made passive-aggressive comments that felt unnecessarily inflammatory. To give just one example -- I was provided no information about what to expect on the day of surgery: where I would wait, whether I could be with my son before or after the procedure, or how the process would unfold. When I asked for details and expressed that I wanted to be with my baby when he woke up, I was met not with empathy, but with, "It's within your rights to cancel and go somewhere else, since this isn't a life-threatening emergent surgery." That is an incredibly dismissive and inappropriate response to give any parent the night before their infant's surgery. Can you imagine how that would make you feel? Since the staff failed to provide this information, I want to share with other parents what should have been explained: Upon arrival, you'll check in, complete paperwork, and make any required payment. You and your child will then be brought to a semi-private space near the OR (not a room--more like a curtained area). You'll stay there the entire time. After meeting with the surgical team, anesthesiologist, and nurses, and signing all consents, your child will be taken back for surgery. Once the procedure is done, the surgeon will come to update you. Your child will be monitored in recovery, and as soon as they begin to wake up, they will be brought directly to you. You'll stay together for about 30 minutes before being discharged home. The day-of clinical care was compassionate and efficient -- but the lead-up experience left much to be desired. For a facility that serves young children and families, empathy and clear communication should be non-negotiable. read more

Hmm... well the surgery went well but geez, the bed side manners of the nurses is pretty bad. Apologies for making you have to put down your phone and come attend to the patient. A fair amount of apathy. While we are thankful for the successful surgery, I wouldn't recommend this place based on the service, lack of quality of basically everything there (seems very cheap throughout), and most importantly a nursing staff that is about as apathetic as I've experienced... Haven't gotten to the billing yet so we shall see how that goes read more

Wow....I only had a brief interaction with Strictly Pediatric and just wow what messy experience! My adopted special needs son was on the books for 1.5 months to have a procedure there. A week before the procedure, I spoke to an older female nurse with Strictly Pediatrics at 3:04 pm on July 8 and expressed some of my concerns about my son's potential behavior and the procedure, looking for some assurance and guidance. Between me and the Yelp community, this nurse was pretty rude and off putting with some of her comments about my child but I was trying to be positive and told myself maybe she was just tired or something. She told me to talk over some of my concerns with my husband and she would talk to her team and then we would circle back to discuss the next day. Instead of a phone call, I just got a text from this nurse saying that my son wasn't allowed to have his procedure there. I texted back that I was hoping I could talk to her or someone directly and no answer, nada, nothing. Then to top it all off, when I was contacted by the doctor to reschedule the procedure elsewhere, I was told I had to wait another month to get it done....basically on the day school started for my son which was so upsetting. The absolute lack of humanity towards an adopted special needs child and his parents was shocking to me! Shame on Strictly Pediatric! If your kid is special needs, just go somewhere else. After reading some of the reviews, I have to admit I was a little nervous. My daughter had a bellybutton hernia surgery and we had the best experience ever from checking in, to all the nurses and staff who were so accommodating and SO sweet and absolutely wonderful with the children!!!! I cannot rave enough about choosing this place for a surgery hopefully we never need it again, but I would not hesitate to come back!!! read more

This place was great , like the rest of the reviews stated.. the nurses are AMAZING. You can absolutely see that they all love working here. They explained the surgery very thoroughly and let us ask as many questions as we had. They made sure to make us feel comfortable and tried to make our daughter feel special before and after her surgery. Her ear tube surgery was very quick. Dr.Zapalac was great. The arrival time was rough (6am) but I understand the process. We were out by 7:30am and my daughter seemed to have no pain or issues for the following days after. The nurses did call and check to see how she was doing 5 days later. Loved our experience and would choose to come here again if we ever needed to. read more

Highly recommend that you avoid this practice at all costs. Our daughter had a tonsillectomy performed at this location and we are now receiving multiple bills for the surgery from overlapping specialists who were supposedly all present for the surgery (for example, two bills for two different anesthesiologists). This was not disclosed at all prior to the surgery and now the cost of the surgery effectively doubled as a result of this shady practice. read more

OK, the experience here did not start well. Arrived at the stark waiting room with wildly uncomfortable seating at 6:30AM, to be told I couldn't have my coffee. ABSOLUTELY NO: 1. Food 2. Drink 3. Wifi 4. Cell reception The receptionist had no record of my son's need to get medicine before the surgery, and told me the nurses would be out in plenty of time. They weren't, and when I told her he should have had the medicine already, she said she couldn't control the nurses. Once the nurse came to get us, the whole situation turned 180 degrees... Every last nurse was awesome... terrific bedside manner with my son, very professional and friendly with me. The anesthesiologist was equally great. Our doctor, of course, we already knew. Once my son was taken back to surgery, one of the nurses came and got me and brought me to the recovery room to wait. She offered me coffee, and gave me a wifi password... what a difference that door from waiting to surgery makes! The center needs to clean up its act in front... that's the easy stuff. And, you should be ashamed to tell a mom coming in with a toddler having surgery at 6:30AM that she needs to dispose of her coffee. Your rationale of "the kids can't eat or drink, so the people with them shouldn't either" is complete crap - you think my son cared that I had my coffee? And to the nurses in back (plus the doctors, though they aren't from the center), THANK YOU! You guys salvage the horrible service up front that almost shook my confidence in how my son would be cared for during surgery. read more

i asked clearly if there would be an additional charge outside of what I had already paid them up front for my sons procedure, only to be contacted months later not by them but a debt collector. it should be illegal to offer additional services not covered by insurance that you only find out about post procedure. terrible experience all around with this. still trying to figure out how to pay them. I didn't do business with frost whatever and therefore will not be paying them. read more

I keep forgetting to write a review of this place and am remembering now. My son had a surgery here back when he was around 14-15months old. Every part of the surgery went great. It's out patient, so I was expecting lots of very quick care like most out patient surgery centers. This was not the case. Even the pediatric anesthesiologist was amazing. He answered my husband and my countless questions and took great care to ensure my son was as comfortable as can be considering he was having surgery. Following the surgery, my son got sick to his stomach once and we called the nurse who was caring for him post op. He was so helpful and caring. He gave us tips to help my son feel better. I was called several days following his operation to check up on him. This is really exceptional care. I am great full. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I have to start with the nurses, the superheroes that helped us every minute of the way. Rachel was our intake nurse who got my daughter checked in. My daughter is two and had no idea what was going on. Rachel was playful and sweet. She made my daughter feel comfortable 100% of the time. Then we met Susanna. She was our nurse during surgery. She came to check on our daughter and make sure we, as parents, felt comfortable. She gave us all the info we needed about pre-op and post-op. Dr. Young was our anesthesiologist. His team was amazing. Our daughter had no idea she was headed to surgery. The anesthesia nurse took her to pick out stickers and headed back to surgery. Our little one had no idea anything was going to happen. She felt so comfortable with everyone. My daughter had a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and tubes in both ears. When we went to our recovery room, Rachel showed us where everything was located. The clinic offers so many amenities for the kids in recovery. They had rolling TVs with VHS/DVD players, a library of movies to choose from, wagons to pull your kid around, and a fully stocked playroom for kids staying overnight. There was also a wall of magazines for parents. I wish we could have taken pictures, but they don't allow photo/video. Any time we needed a snack for our daughter, we could ask or we could go to the fridge ourselves. There was no place to store food or warm up food, but you could bring your own food in. Our next nurse was Erika. She was very helpful in making sure my daughter wasn't in any pain and had every thing she needed. Our night nurse was Stephanie. I don't think I would have gotten a wink of sleep if Stephanie wasn't there. She brought a pillow and blanket for me when she realized we had forgotten ours. (You can bring your own pillow and blanket. I recommend bringing your own to keep your child and yourself comfy). After we got the pillow and blanket, we laid down and slept for the first time that night. We couldn't have asked for a sweeter staff to help us through this rough time. We appreciated how each staff member showed us how to properly administer medicine to make sure our daughter recovers well. If we ever have to bring another child, I highly recommend this clinic. Dr. Shepard was our doctor for this procedure. Last note, the clinic was sooooooo clean! Even the playroom! Side note: we were next door to a parent that constantly complained about not getting to be in the surgery room. She wanted to put the gas mask on her daughter and wait until she was asleep. The nurses were polite in explaining this was not allowed. 4 nurses and other staff came forward to politely explain policy. The mom was persistent and very rude. It was calming to know every staff member knew all policies and were able to keep a soft, calm tone although the mom was adamant about getting her way. The mom eventually moved hospitals. read more

My son had ear tubes put in yesterday. We were told to arrive by 6:30am and that he wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink after 1am. When we arrived the waiting room was filling up quickly but still plenty of seats. It is a lot nicer in the waiting area than I expected. Yes, its true. There are no Food or Drink signs everywhere, but I understand that and am OK with it. The waiting room does have WIFI, you just need to ask the front desk. When I asked she handed me a small piece of paper with the name and password on it. The receptionist seemed a bit frazzled and irritated at 6:30am but heck.. I am too sometimes. ;) However, like the other reviewer mentioned, once we were called back by a nurse the whole experience changed 1000%. EVERY SINGLE NURSE was extremely helpful and happy. You can tell they love their jobs, working with these kiddos. The anesthesiologist was great, as was our doctor. Once my son was taken back to surgery, we were escorted to a post op room to wait for him. In the post opp area, there are soda and vending machines as well as fresh coffee. The discharge nurse was just as great as the other nurses. My son was back in our arms within 10-15 minutes of leaving for the procedure. We fed him a bottle and waited to make sure he didn't have a upset stomach due to the gas they gave him during the procedure. We were escorted out by the discharge nurse and headed home around 9:30am (3 hours after we arrived). I hope for my sons sake I don't have to go back here anytime soon for any other surgeries or procedures, but if we did, it's a great place. Thanks Strictly Pediatrics! read more

They charged our insurance an $8000 facility fee (not including Doctor or Anesthesiologist fees) for a 10-15 PE tube surgery.

Most of these reviews are completely asinine. People are more worried about drinking coffee and getting a good night's rest than the wellbeing of their child. Amazing. 1. Doctors are never on time. Reason being, the patient before you was either late OR maybe there was a complication with the patient and the doctor needed to spend a little extra time to remedy the situation. Wouldn't you want your doctor to spend the necessary time with your child instead of rushing off to make sure they were on time for their next surgery? If they rushed off during your time to make the next appointment you would then complain they didn't take their time with your child. Get a grip! 2. The no food and drink policy. Whoever has an issue with this is completely insane. Your child might be fine with you drinking coffee but my kid is not. He wants something to drink and eat but he can't because his LIFE depends on it for proper anesthesia protocol. So I get to try to explain to my two year old why you can have a drink and he cannot, at 6am no less. Have some respect. You are going to survive without your coffee for one agonizing hour. We had a great experience here. Everyone from the front desk to the nurses were courteous and helpful. Our two year old had his tonsils and adenoids out and was completely comfortable the entire time. I would recommend Strictly Pediatrics to any parent! read more

Everything from check-in to check out was easy and nice! Was worried about the reviews but we had a wonderful experience!

My son had his tonsils taken out and we had a great experience not only were the nurses knowledgeable, helpful and courteous but they gave us our privacy. They also made sure that our son felt safe and in control of his own care. I recommend this pediatric surgery Center whenever possible. DO NOT USE STRICTLY PEDIATRICS!!!!!!! My son had a surgery there and they estimated the facility cost to be $439 which we paid at the time of surgery. A couple weeks later we received a bill in the mail from the facility for $10,000!!! They cannot give me an itemized list or even tell me what was used to make the cost go from $439 to $10,000. All they say is that the surgery was a little more complex. It still only took 30 minutes which was the inital estimated time and I still don't know what the hell they're charging us for. This is absolutely ridiculous and I would not recommend this facility for anyone. I only gave it one star b/c I had to-I would prefer to give them no stars. (8months old) from the administration to the nurses and doctors everyone was GREAT I was a nervous wreck and I just can't get over how great our experience was! The long version is: From the beginning the facility seemed unprofessional and unorganized, starting with the phone call to confirm arrival time. I got a call, arrival time is scheduled for 6am. Great. 10 minutes later, I have FIVE calls in a row from the surgery center. I was driving, unable to answer. When I finally have the chance to answer, the lady says, "I'm very sorry to call again, but there was a mix up, please arrive at 6am." ???!?! I informed her that was the time she had just given me. She said, "Oh, sorry. I shouldn't have called. Bye." Unorganized. Already feeling anxious about my son having his tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy the following day, this was very concerning. We arrive promptly at 6am. We are first to be called back. The nurse comes out, and is calling our doctor's name. He says it three times (like he thought that was a child's name) then says, "Oh, lets try (and says my son's name.)" Unorganized. Unprofessional and so concerning. We go back with him. He is turning on lights as we walk through the halls and eventually gets us to the "room" we will be staying for the next 23 hours. It is a giant room with a bunch of little bays, much like an ER, but instead of curtains, there are sliding glass doors. There is one reclining chair and a couple plastic chairs in our room. THIS is where I will be SPENDING the NIGHT with my 2 year old. No bathroom, no sink, just a chair. They expect the parent that stays to either hold it or leave your already 'traumatized from the surgery' toddler with a nurse they do not know, screaming, while you go down the hall to the bathroom? This facility is NOT set up to have over night patients. They can call the surgery an "outpatient" procedure because all the paperwork we signed said "23hr stay." How obnoxious. My son comes back to the room after his surgery. He is a mess, screaming, crying, angry. All things we expected. What we didn't expect was for the nurse to come in right after we finally got him calmed down and say, "they put his IV in wrong and I need to fix it." ?!?! She had to "fix" it THREE different times. My son was totally traumatized! I was devastated for him. Unprofessional. Unacceptable! This is a PEDIATRIC facility. They should know how to put an IV in a 2 year old and properly secure it. The bathroom was out of soap from about 3pm to 6am the next morning. When I finally brought it up to a nurse in the morning, she said, "Oh that's something we should have told the cleaning crew last night." ?!?!? WHAT?! Unacceptable! Were they going to wait until the following night to get soap in the bathroom? Unacceptable! In the morning, discharge is between 6-6:30am. My husband arrived a little before 6am. I let my nurse know that he would be arriving early and she said it was no problem just let her know when he arrived. Well, when he arrived, my nurse was helping someone else. No big deal. I unplugged my baby's IV and started walking to open the door. Well, my husband, who was standing in the rain waiting to get in, rang the doorbell (that is how you let the staff know you need in.) The other nurse, came storming out and I said, "Oh that my husband, we are going to let him in." She rushes past me to go open the door. I turn around, plug my son back in and here is the nurse. She turned around to come back and grouchily shout at me, "I thought you said he wasn't going to ring the door bell!" Unprofessional. Disrespectful and completely RUDE. Maybe he shouldn't have rang the doorbell, BUT he did, and yelling at me, a sleep deprived, mentally exhausted Mama to a crying baby who just had surgery IS NOT THE WAY TO HANDLE IT!! I do NOT recommend this place. Unorganized. Unprofessional. Completely unacceptable. read more

The front office staff is the worst I have ever seen. Rude , disrespectful, and just down right mean. When we got to the back, everything changed. Nurses and staff were exceptional. The tactics used by the front office is called strong arming. Often used in clinics where they have to intimidate clients to collect money. Be very careful upon arriving at office, they are ready to humiliate you. read more

I was really nervous about getting my son circumsized. When I received a phone call the week of the surgery, the lady was extremely rude. She talked really fast and when I had some questions, she talked back as if I should've known everything. It made me want to cancel the appointment because I was really afraid that my son would be treated bad. I had to suck it up and get this done for my son. The day of the appointment, four hours later, the nurses brought my son into the waiting room. He was knocked out from the anastesia, I almost wanted to cry. My son came out great, so the time did not matter to me. The nurses were super sweet!!!! I didn't pack similac because I thought he still couldn't drink after the surgery. The nurse was very kind to search around and was able to give him a bottle. They are totally awesome, as well as the doctor!!! He explained why he had to get cut at a specialist and how he was going to do it. It made a lot more sense to me compared to what I was told at the hospital and pediatric office. read more

My daughter has had several procedures here. This last time we had to stay the night. I would not recommend them for overnight stays. Go to Dell. There was ONE bathroom on the floor to be shared by EVERYONE. This includes staff, family, and children. The other negative was how bright it was in our room when we were trying to sleep. There was no way to block the light out from the nurses' station and the hall. It made it difficult to get my toddler (and myself) to sleep. The nurses were great. And even though they came in at all hours of the night to take vitals and check on my child, they were extremely quiet and did their best to keep from waking my child up. The floor fridge was stocked with goodies for post-op patients, and we were free to give our child as much jello, apple juice, and popsicles they could handle. Oh! And the room had a DVD player and TV in it. If you have the option to choose a surgery center for your child, and it will be an out-patient surgery, I would HIGHLY recommend this place! If it's for one night I would only recommend it if you and your child are hard sleepers. read more

Our 8-month-old had minor surgery at this center. The staff were all pleasant enough, surgery went alright, and they worked efficiently. But as it is I can't recommend this center for babies and toddlers. We were told she couldn't be late so arrived 30 minutes early only to find a locked building; a pediatric surgery center should take into consideration how difficult it is to hold a wiggly, upset 20-pound baby for half an hour without any seating and let parents know a 6 a.m. report time is actually when the facility doors open. Parents are also not given a safe, clean spot for their baby/toddler to rest or play in the reception or recovery areas (there isn't even a bed or crib in recovery), and staff never offered assistance with moving from one waiting area to the next (at her pediatrician and dentist they always insist on helping). I couldn't help but feel everything was set up in such a way to encourage families to leave as quickly as possible, including the lack of parking validation. read more

I've seen some bad medical facilities and this IS NOT one! My child had an outpatient procedure and I couldn't be more satisfied. It was clean, organized and everyone was really nice. We got out of there quickly and efficiently. Parking is right next door and so it was easy for us to get to the car and go home. The only thing I could say that would be nicer is to know earlier the actual time your child is going in for surgery. They told me they go youngest to oldest. But they were persistent about calling the day before and I had no issues with them getting ahold of me. Overall, a really nice place with knowledgeable staff. read more

Care was fine but the billing was a nightmare. We received an extra bill after we paid initially. We called over a dozen times and left messages and no one would call back to take our money. Eventually they sent us a letter saying they would discount it by 25% if we call but they still didn't answer their phone. Now we have to deal with a collection agency for a very small amount of money which is a fraction of the very large bill we already paid. Find a hospital that treats their customers better read more
