It was a step up for both of us, and my car being paid off, we're down to one car payment. Sounds great, right? Well, maybe. But I love my cars like they are babies. I mother over them, keeping them clean, well-maintained. Lots of love for their interiors, exteriors, and especially all the stuff under the hood. My beloved husband, not so much. I got in his car the other day to run a quick errand and I was aghast! It was horrible. Trashed inside and out, and in need of an oil change. So I found myself at Kwik Kar. These guys were great; I was in and out in about 25 minutes, and all in it was around $90 (synthetic oil, new filter, etc), Volkswagens are a little needy. I'm not sure they're all wearing masks, but when they saw my mask, the guy masked up for me, which I appreciated. The only thing I would change: there was no hand sanitizer in the lobby. I usually keep one in my purse but I was out. I was squirming knowing I'd touched several surfaces and did not have any sanitizer!! Of course, I'll be back soon because now I need to handle my own oil change. I guess maybe as my husband and I continue to upset the apple cart that is traditional gender roles in our marriage, I'll be the one handling car maintenance and upkeep. If Kwik Kar is always this easy, I'm happy to trade car stuff for grocery shopping!

I am a savvy auto DIY'er, builder, computer tech, etc... I have worked on my own cars for 28 years,…read moremy entire adult life. I ahve done Frame-off restorations, engine rebuilds, clutches, and transmissions replacements, etc... I am working on a 2012 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite. (I did this work) I just finished replacing the alternator, belt, battery, oil change, VVTA gaskets, brakes, rotors, shocks, struts, front lower control arms, and got brand new Micheline Defender tires (Discount Tire did those). I wanted to save the tires and finish the job with good alignment. Brookwood Auto charged $113. They said 1 hour and $113. At the 40ish minutes mark, they said you have a stuck bolt.... and I knew it was happening to me. I hoped it wouldn't. I hoped I could trust Brookwood Auto still but here we were. Car stuck on the rack, the tech asked for an additional 1/2 hour of labor due to a stuck bolt +$65 ish. That's a 57.5% increase in cost of the whole job for one bolt. It was the locking bolt on the outer lower tie rod. Very accessible, not rusted over. I went with them under the rack. The tech put on two wrenches and grunted in effort. He said "See?" So they offer I can have it back with the alignment incomplete or pay more. :( You guys, I just had every suspension related fastener under the van off and replaced in the last week and not one issue getting a single bolt off. (out of nearly 100 bolts!) And I am an amateur mechanic! But this tech did not have the mechanical advantage or tools to get one bolt off in less than 30 extra minutes?! Really? Bogus. I told the Owner Matt, "You got me!" go ahead and charge me whatever you are going to take from me to get my car back so I can go to work. I argued out of the extra $65 and paid $113. Still too much for half an alignment. I still need to fix it. :( I tiffed with the owner about the many jobs I did building fences, landscaping, window cleaning, and deck building jobs where I ate the cost of a bad quote because I gave my word. And guess what? I learned how to give an accurate quote. I know things go south on car repairs and all other projects and there are legitimate reasons for budget creep on projects but if you are a pro you should be able to stick to a quote. Especially on an alignment and over one bolt the guy had off 10 minutes later! That was a gotcha tactic. But not over yet. Yesterday morning, I paid, left and called back that evening. Today the rear camber is not changed at all. They skipped it! That was my reason for the whole project. Well, the tech says the rear camber is not adjustable. I sent videos to them of the rear camber being adjusted! I even explained how to do it. They still claim the camber leaning in on both the rear wheels is due to it being a 2012 and "sagging" even though it has new tires, shocks, springs, rubber spring seats. And no damage to any other peripheral parts. I carefully inspected them. This is not a mechanical issue. It's an honesty and Integrity issue. They do not care to do it right or make it right. They took money did half the job and tried to charge more for their tech being inept and dishonest. I will never go back to Brookwood Auto. I strongly recommend that you do not use Brookwood auto. They have joined the group of dishonest mechanic shops who will get your car in the car-hostage situation and increase the price before you can have it back. Pics coming later.

My appointment was 8:00 and was met very timely on that. A few minutes later my wife's car was diagnosed. The diagnosis was in need of brake pads and rotors for both axels. I told Mike I needed an oil change as well. He said he would include that. I was given a price with several discounts he said and the total came back as $1354. I said ouch how long can I go he said it needs done ASAP. I said ok well I would rather get it done then put my wife back in danger. I was there a total of 2 hours and 25 minutes. Ten minutes after I sat there I received two quotes on my email and both quotes came in at 860 and 927. I approached the counter and asked if my car was already started and he said yes. I sat there in the lobby in total embarrassment the whole entire time. I paid Mike and I explained my disappointment. He said he does not make prices I said I understand I left and went straight to auto parts store and was quoted with tax for all parts $643. Yes I was told I now have a warranty 36,000 miles but knowing that I paid over $300 an hour for labor is absolutely inexcusable. The staff was friendly but I am a guy that knows nothing about cars and loves his wife so dearly to make sure she is taken care of. Knowing how bad and over charged I was today I will definitely not be back to Brookwood Automotive.
