I recently opened a business in New Canaan and decided to try a Barre class at Oxygen (in their new…read moreOmni Studio), and wow, what a great place. First, the facilities are immaculate and clean. Just a really beautiful environment to improve yourself physically. They have all kinds of offerings for whatever type of workout or training style you prefer. The staff there is extremely nice yet motivating. Sara, Cat and everyone there couldn't have been nicer. I even had a minor billing issue (which was my fault) and Sara the owner wanted to give me the class for free. I resolved the issue the following day but that was very nice of them. Oxygen also has its own dedicated parking lot which makes it nice and easy to get in and out. There are some great little shops and eateries/coffee places nearby as well. I recommend everyone check it out. Sign up for a class and see for yourself.

On the day I needed to suspend my membership (in advance of an extended time away) I told the person at the front desk upon my arrival there that I needed to suspend my membership and wanted to confirm that I could do so without penalty. She said it wasn't a problem, and asked if I knew when I'd be back to re-start the membership. Because I didn't know, she said we could leave it suspended indefinitely and that whenever I was back they could re-instate it. Again, I asked if this was without penalty, and again she confirmed. I then went for my final work out. On may way *out* of the facility that day, a different person at the front desk said that she'd been told that I wanted to suspend my membership, but that I needed to sign a form to put this into effect. I was in a rush at that point as my workout had gone late, so I quickly signed the form and left. Little did I know that by signing I was agreeing to pay a $50/mo fee to keep my membership on hold. Setting aside for a moment that it doesn't cost the facility anything to leave a membership on hold, this was in direct contradiction to what I'd been told on multiple occasions. I was a member in good standing at the club for a long time prior to this incident. I paid a great deal extra for personal training, etc. I recommended the place to two friends, both of whom joined. I gave the staff at Oxygen every opportunity to make this situation right before taking the step to write this review and file with the BBB. They chose not to, which to me says a great deal about a business, its owners and their practices. It's classically pennywise and pound foolish on their part. This is a terrible, consumer-unfriendly policy, that is wielded in a sloppy manner.

What a lovely studio! I came here on a Thursday evening and booked through ClassPass. It was a…read morelittle bit hard to find at first because it is so small you have to go upstairs right above Benefit. Walking into this studio is almost like walking into someone's warm and cozy home, you definitely feel right at home. There are lockers and space to put your stuff. They even have keys on the lockers if you feel like using them. The class was very challenging but I felt supported the whole way through. Though the movements seem very simple when you are just observing, performing them is a whole different story. I was sore for several days after but in the most satisfying way. I definitely want to try to come back sometime soon!

I found the class on ClassPass and as soon as I entered the studio Patty at the front desk made me feel very welcome. The studio is on the small side so while their website says walk-ins accepted, I definitely recommend registering ahead of time. My class had 10-12 people in it and that was about the limit. This really allowed the instructor to provide personalized feedback and make sure everyone had proper form. I've taken barre at a number of other studios (primarily Bar Method) and found class very similar. If you've never taken any type of barre class before, I recommend arriving the suggested 15 minutes early and making that known to the front desk and the instructor. It was clear that there were a lot of regulars and the instructor, Eve, was less detailed in her cues/movement descriptions than I'm used to. I would also suggest that she make a point to introduce herself at the beginning of class, welcome any new folks, and let them know that she's available to answer questions/if they need help. Overall though I thought she was a fantastic instructor. Very supportive, easy to follow, and nice about corrections. If I lived in the area this would be my regular barre spot for sure. Highly recommend!
