This is a very nice business near the courthouse that offers physical therapy, weight loss,…read morepersonal training and massage. I was walking home one afternoon from Supreme Court duty at the courthouse and saw a sign for massage. It has been quite a while since I had a massage and decided to give this spot a try. I made an appointment on line which is very convenient. A private parking lot is on the side of the building. My masseuse was not in house when I arrived but I was checked-in immediately and I waited in the office/wait area just inside the door. There are two rooms off the waiting/office area with work-out equipment, plus a locker room and restroom. The entire building looks and smells clean and looks to be in good condition. My masseuse arrived in time for my appointment. We went upstairs to a massage room where we had a brief consult about my expectations for the appointment. They were easy to chat with and shared their impressive credentials. I learned during my appointment that they are uncomfortable with clients who disrobe completely for a session and prefer that all clients retain their bottoms during the massage whether male or female. The techniques used during my treatment are very much in line with other massage treatments I have received. I would have preferred a bit more pressure and did not leave feeling like my knots had been addressed as I had hoped. After the treatment I was asked to purchase a package for multiple sessions, which I deferred. I was really hoping this would be my new 'go to' spot as I miss having a regular masseuse. The massage I received was good, but I don't feel personally it's a good fit for me. However, the staff are exceptionally well trained and know what they are doing. If you are looking to get in shape, lose weight or just need someone to work out your knots, I recommend you try this spot. It may be just what you are looking for.

I have been a member of Fitness Together in East Greenwich since the fall of 2008, about a year and…read morea half ago. I went there at a time that my health was deteriorating and my conditioning at an all-time low. One of my sons had said to me, "Mom, don't you even want to get well?" I joined FT and I was dragging. I complained constantly about everything. Yet each trainer I worked with just kept urging me on and my conditioning improved. About a year later, it was determined that my problems were being caused by a benign cyst on my frontal lobe. I had surgery (8.5 hours' worth) on November 24, 2009. I was in the neurosurgical ICU for ten days. During that stay, whenever the Physical Therapist came to work with me, I couldn't wait to get up and walk. If she said to do one stair repetition, I said, "Can I do two?" or three or four. Guess where this determination and drive came from? Fitness Together. My stay in the ICU was four days shorter than the average one. My neurosurgeon, Dr. Petra Klinge, said I could return to exercise 6-8 weeks after surgery. You know I was back at FT six weeks to the day. Early this June, I summited N.H.'s Mt. Avalon, an elevation gain of 1450' in the pouring rain, only 25 minutes slower than AMC's suggested time. Not bad for just over 6 months after brain surgery. This is the kind of conditioning and motivation I received from FT. The staff are friendly and professional. The owner, Robin Ball, is even spending extra time consulting with my chiropractor and physical therapist to supplement my particular needs. You know what else? They even let me bring in my own CD's. Some mornings in the heart of East Greenwich, clients are working out to Motown sounds from the 60's and I love it. Karen Paley ksurman1@cox.net

To accomplish the rest of my weight loss goal, I wanted to incorporate more regimented fitness / exercise. I've been a member of a large chain gym for years while remaining a fat guy, so self-guided fitness was not a good option. I joined Crossfit Gamut in November 2018 with zero experience in crossfit or Olympic lifts. My aerobic fitness was minimal. I knew absolutely no one at this gym (found it via Google). The coaches and other members there are welcoming and supportive. No one cares if you're new, inexperienced, or very out of shape. It's a very newbie-friendly gym. The coaches are good at scaling workouts to accommodate a variety of fitness levels, ages, old injuries, etc. That said, the workouts are very challenging and produce results. Since joining, I've lost an additional 20 pounds while gaining strength and flexibility / mobility. Also, I'm making new friends, which is pretty fantastic. I'm confident that I'll hit my fitness and weight loss goals. As of this writing, Crossfit Gamut offers one evening class per week for free as a trial to prospective members. That's how I tried it out. Visit the website or call them to schedule a trial class (you can't just show up...).
