Flex Fitness in Freeport has made great improvements over the past few months with the hiring of a…read morenew gym manager (Mike) who has literally taken personal ownership of the place and cleaned up much of the mess that previously existed. He's on top of everything, from management to admin to maintenance. The place looks and runs better than it has since it first opened (back when Denver was running the show). The only downside is that Mike takes off at 6pm, so in the evening hours there still tends to be a problem with non-members (mostly undocumented) sneaking in. And for that reason alone I would not recommend unaccompanied females be there after dark.

I am a very shy person and have a hard time in new social situations, but this was seriously the friendliest, most welcoming group of people. The gym overall has such a chill vibe, but the energy is definitely there to get you through the WOD. Everyone was so supportive of each other and constantly motivating. For anyone looking to drop it, definitely read their website first. Your pass is only good for 7 days from the date of purchase, you have to download a couple of apps to reserve your spot (which is required) and see the WOD, which is released at 5 PM the day prior. This will be my go to gym from now on while in town!

She is helping me build the strength back in my knee and lose weight. Because of her background she is able to adjust the exercises but still works on whole body workouts. She is a great person and I am absolutely so grateful for her. I also have trainer Sean who is awesome. He is helping me with nutrition. He plans out every meal for me!!! This is perfect for me because I don't want to count calories. He gives me a new menu every two weeks. So far it is working. He said my metabolism is shot so we have to work on that before going into a deficit in my calories. I definitely can not do without either of them on my weightloss journey. Thank you to you both

The dedication that Coach Daniel Schlemmer and Nichole Schlemmer to their members is unlike any person I have trained with. They, along with fellow members of this gym truly want you to succeed and do well! So much so! What other gym have you been a part of when someone is maxing out on their deadlift and everyone stops what they're doing to scream your name and cheer you on. To see that look of accomplishment on your face and tell you "Great job!" To pat you on the back and be genuinely excited to see your growth. That is blacksheep. That is the atmosphere you get here. You cannot out a price on that, you cannot out a price on your success and your strength. Since I joined blacksheep, not only do I look fitter and healthier, but I can just over all move around better. Things that used to be hard, aren't difficult for me anymore. I have way more energy. My self confidence mentally and physically will never be the same, so no, this isn't just a gym. This is a style of strength and conditioning where you will lift heavy weights, don't be afraid of that. You will be strong and look amazing. Coach Dan and Nichole train their athletes using the conjugate method. Let me tell you... it has changed my life!! Take a look at my photos on here. You can message me on Facebook if you have any more questions for a current athlete at blacksheep. Hannah France

It's open 24/7 (via a programmed key-fob), but there is someone at the desk for a few hours in the afternoon on weekdays (M-TH 330-6pm). I don't know how access is truly maintained during unmanned hours, because I've seen people come in who don't appear to be members, and don't sign in on the sign-in sheet as they're supposed to. Located right on Hwy 331 just south of the Hwy 331/Hwy 20 intersection, the location is super convenient. Parking is usually adequate, but often you'll have to park in the ally behind the adjacent businesses. This could be a concern for unaccompanied females during hours of darkness. Much of the equipment tends to be a little older, but is adequately maintained. And of course there are regular improvements and updates. There is a male and a female restroom, both large enough to change clothes. There are small cubbies adjacent to the restrooms for personal gear. There are security cameras indoors, but I cannot attest to whether (if or when) they're actually monitored. And as far as I know there is no type of membership screening for any criminal background, to include one's legal status in the United States. This could be a rapidly growing concern for some folks, particularly unaccompanied females during unmanned hours of darkness.
