I am in my fifth year of coming to Strelcheck Chiropractic Clinic. Their treatment has greatly helped reduce the amount of pain that I suffer in my back, legs, arthritis and migraine headaches. Sometimes Chiropractic requires ongoing treatments. I have been coming on a bi-weekly basis for quite some time and I'm completely satisfied with the care that I receive here. I had such a creepy, strange experience here. There's only been a few instances in when I had a knee jerk " flight or fight" response and sadly it happened here. To give a little background, I'm a 43 years old woman who lives in CL. I hurt my back by lifting a bunch of boxes that were entirely too heavy... Anyway, I called to make an apt. And shared at that time that I was desperate to get in to see someone who could "crack" my back . The receptionist, who's very efficient and quite nice got me in very quickly which I grateful for.. Soooo, I show up at the apt, check in , and then talk to the ladies up front about insurance. What's so strange is that i too had that exact same experience as many others have shared In that the ladies at the front took my BCBS card ( totally normal ) and then literally called them ( I could hear it) to see how much they ( BCBS ) would cover. That was a first! Butttt, I'm pretty laid back, whatever.... I came back up and grabbed my card and then took a seat anxiously waiting for my name to be called so that I could get some relief. 5 to 10 minutes later , they call my name and then usher me to a exam room where they had me undress and put on a medical gown. I'm getting excited because relief is now just minutes away..... WRONG! The chiropractor comes in and asks a bunch of questions, does a quick physical exam and then says he'll be back. Okkkkkk...... Then the nurse enters the room and instructs me to get dressed. Of course I'm totally confused b/c I came there to get an alignment and she said that's not gonna happen. As you might imagine, I was pretty frustrated. The chiropractor comes back into the room and shares that I "need MAJOR work" and that he couldn't possibly work on me that day for fear that it could make things worse. Give me a break... I was cer uncomfortable but it wasn't THAT bad. He said that I'd need to come back twice a week for treatments at $150 per treatment! I was speechless... He then left the room and the tech ushered me into a different room with a bunch of metals chairs in which she asked me to sit and watch a video ( VHS might I add! ) . The video was tacky, so dated. I'm not kidding when I share that this very strange flight or fight mechanism kicked in. All I could think of was GET ME OUTTA HERE. It gave me the creeps.. Something didn't feel right. I walked outta there and never looked back. These guys are something else ! I wasted a week on that first appointment which got me nowhere ! They response a lot with how ethical they are however, had I known that they had ZERO intention of helping me that first visit, I would have made different arrangements. Make no mistake.... As soon as I post this I'm sure "Pamela, " the office manager will retort by saying that her family has been in business for 59 years and that they are very ethical, etc. However, this was MY experience andvit wasn't pleasant. When someone makes an apt sharing that they are in pain and in need of an alignment the answer is not to play games by making me wait a week for what turned out being nothing more than a workup ( YES, they charged BCBS $300 for this visit! ) and then share that the only way I'll find relief is by being seen twice a week paying $300 a week / $1200 a month. the whole thing was just so weird... it was more about the money than the help. read more

This review is perhaps moreso a review of chiropractic practice in general, but nonetheless, this was my first experience with a chiropractor. Call me a sucker, but here is what I fell for... To begin, the building, staff, doctors are all very nice. The staff will refer to you by name always and everyone treats you with a smile. The problem however, is that this is an obvious act. The entire chiropractic FIELD is a scam. I feel sorry for the folks who were there daily or 3 times a week. They simply do not know or are afraid to question the "doctor". In any case, the whole premise of this business is to keep you coming back - plain and simple. The "doctor" will perform full body xrays for every patient (not necessary and potentially dangerous). To see the results you of course need to come back. When you do return for your second visit you are treated to a creepy video reminding you that you need to respect the practice and be ontime to all appointments. It also expands on the virtues of the practice of moving your bones around. He will also cover your "plan" which for me involved no less than TWENTY EIGHT visits totaling over $1100.00. (lolwut) The next thing you know you are brought into a room in which the "doctor" is going to move your bones using some creepy looking tools. This will supposedly be painless, but you are required to come back the next two days in a row to "see how your body reacts". Needless to say, at this point I said "No thanks" and left. Oh wait, as I was leaving I was encouraged to set up my next set of three appointments for the upcoming week. And also the financial lady asked me to sign a sheet saying that I agreed to the plan of TWENTY EIGHT visits and $1100+. This is really sad because most of the people in the office were old folks and ladies who seemed not to know any better. So overall Strelcheck is really good at what they do, unfortunately what they do is quackery. Do a simple Google search to find out for yourself. read more

If I could, I would give this place negative stars! They will take you for your insurance and everything else and force you to go onto a payment plan! Buyer beware, this is not a good practice. They also did not help me with my back problems, with the exception of a massage completed by Diane - who I WOULD recommend. Unfortunately, i will never go back! I had hurt my hand trying to open a jar so we tried Strelcheck. The place is like something out of a BAD movie from the 50's! They had me watch a stupid movie in a small room with my wife, then the "doctor" comes in and tells us how I have a very bad case of rheumatoid arthritis! He can fix it for ten treatments of $110.00 each. But wait, if I pay up from it will only be $1000. I went to two treatments, The first one he used an activator on my knuckles and it hurt like hell, the he sends me to his basement when a message specialist rubs my knuckles with some lotion, ($75)! The next visit he takes out the activator and I tell him NOT TO USE IT! But he uses it anyway saying that's the only way to fix it! Theres other things you should know: There are three people in the basement who's only job is to send out bills, I found this out when they billed my credit card $1000 without telling me! We were refered to this office by a friend who's been going for years. That should have been my first clue, they obviously can't or don't want to fix you. We have a family chiropractor, but were looking for something closer, since we moved. This place was drooling over our insurance card and let me know the max it would pay for a year. Then they made me watch a bizarre video, very clockwork orange, explaining how we need to commit to all these treatments. Then they had me set up for months worth of treatments. No thank you! All the poor patients in the waiting room looked so miserable and in pain. I feel so bad, because they will probably never feel better. Shame on you Strelcheck and your unethical practice! read more

I went to Strelchik until the insurance stopped paying. It is an old building with old stuff and a very old doctor who is the son of the father, Strelchik, the founder. The chiropractor, or the "doctor" started the chiropractic school late in life and only finished it because of his father. First few decades, Strelchik, the current quack, was a construction worker and did not do much useful stuff with his life. He was able to go through schooling because of his father's strong will. Know whom you trust tour body! A construction worker or a quack graduating in the bottom of his class which is the current owner of this business . read more

I have been seeing Dr. Daniel for over 14 years, having had several traumatic injuries, broken bones, sinusitis, digestive problems, hip pain, and TMJ. My treatment has effectively minimized problems that would have gone untreated by General Practitioners, Orthopedists, allergists, and the like. Pro tip: Chiropractic is a lot like car maintenance; one visits every few weeks for a tune-up. I love this place. All of Strelcheck's professionals know how to directly address the root of a problem rather than simply medicating the symptoms. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

The worst chiropractic experience of my life. First they made me watch a strange video about their business and were very excited that I had great insurance. Eventually they used a "gun like" tool that had actually damaged my sciatic nerve. It's criminal what they are doing to patients at this place. Eventually, I had to receive 6 treatments from another trusted family chiropractor in order to stop the pain in Palatine. My suggestion to anyone with a good chiropractor is to never change. The amount of driving is definitely worth the amount of pain you otherwise would be in. read more

I agree with the earlier review. I actually read it as I was sitting in the office watching the video. I have been to chiropractors previously and had great success. I needed to find a new local one so I gave Strelcheck a try. They have a very old office with x ray machines from the 50's. Then set you up on some bogus plan. Like the previous review I was also asked to sign a financial agreement committing to $800 worth of visits. I wanted to pay as you go and they still wanted me to sign this financial agreement committing pay the full $800. They were very vague on the financial agreement. Saying just sign it for our records. Yea right! Read the fine print and you soon realize that you are committing to this financial amount no matter what. Very sketchy practice. They do whatever it take to keep you coming back. Been going here for a month or two. I am not feeling any better. Actually am feeling worse and have told them that. They didn't really listen. Was set up for payment plan and was overcharged. Office is old. Took xrays and make you put on sweatpants? Probably in which have already been worn a bunch of times.
