This is one of those restaurants you eat at not because the food is insane, but rather because eating there puts you smack in an awesome part of town and sets you up for a good night. This is my third day in Helsinki (visiting from California), and though I've spent the last two days wandering around, it wasn't until I stumbled into this place that I knew I'd found the "cool" part of town.
It's hip. The people that work there have beards and tattoos and long hair which is actually somewhat unusual in Helsinki, especially in the proper part of the city. This is the kind of place that puts their street food menu on mounted LCD screens and then marks up the price a bit for it, but I'm a sucker for that. Their branding is dope, too. The sandwiches come in paper wrapping with their logo on it, so you can sort of tell they're looking to be a destination, not just a random stop with a decent sandwich.
At the end of the day, the food was fine, but the experience of eating there and discovering the neighborhood made it worth it. read more
