I'm writing this, not from a student's perspective, but as someone who applied for a position…read morethere. I think that it deserves three stars for what it is -- a place of learning, basically a career college, where people can get real-world skills to fall easily into their career of choice. However, in order to obtain those skills properly, they need educators who know their stuff. Here's where my lower rating comes in. I was interested in teaching subject X. It was filled, so the person that I spoke with asked if I had experience teaching subject Y. I informed them that I knew nothing about subject Y, but I appreciated the offer. It should have been done there. Instead, this person tried to urge me to teach it anyway, knowing that I knew nothing about it. Hello! What? And, there that is. It was disheartening.

Here is why I am rating it so highly. I am a student here and I have noticed some less than…read morefavorable reviews for them. As an actual professional who is also a student I think I have a better perspective on this place. 1. My advisor was Mr.Mooney who was not only honest with me but, has continually assisted me with navigating enrollment and even personally showed me to my first class. 2. My teachers so far currently work in the fields they are teaching. 3. The class sizes really are small in one of my classes there is only 12 of us. I can email my instructor and get a response quickly. You can't put a price on personalized schooling. This place is a great place to advance your career. They also teach helpful skills that apply directly to the real world which most schools don't seem to do. The only complaints I've heard are from people who had unrealistic expectations. A college will not find you a job they will however open the door, but you have to walk through it, night classes take place at night and your schedule is available roughly a month prior to start to allow you to properly plan, like most things in life you get what you put in. As a 25 year old trying to further my position in the corporate world I couldn't be happier here.

Some buildings are super old. I lived in West Village, Townsend and Stewart Halls. In the first one I needed to live with 5 other people, who were not carying about others space. Then moved to Townsend and got problems with big cockroaches in my room. Even though I kept it clean, cockroaches appeared out of nowhere and I was super scared of them, so I needed to sleep in common room for 2 days, because Pest Control works onky Monday and Thursday at mornings and nobody else could help me. I changed my dorm to Stewart and the room is finally good. Spacious, big windows and lot sof sunlight, but I saw cockroaches again in the corridor. I don't know what's the problem here with them, but I find then super annoying and scary. Other than that, in the breaks I, as an exchange student stayed on campus during most of the breaks and the fact that they ban meal plans during the breaks is still a question. You basically need to pay additional price in order for them to work. I don't know how it's dor US students, but beside awesome people, I find this place wearing pink glasses and ignoring problems that people have.

So my son got his DOT physical, he passed his drug test, he passed his background check and got approved for the money though WIA. As the time for class approached, he was told it was being postponed until the end of April. Then it was postponed till the end of May. As the May class approached, he was then told the class was postponed until the end of June. He called every week in June to confirm that class was still firm. The Friday before he talked to them and was told, that yes, class would be starting Monday. On Saturday he got an email saying the class was postponed AGAIN!!!!! This time, I even called and they couldn't give me a reason why, just the the instructor couldn't teach on Monday. They weren't sure when it would be starting or even if it would start. I asked for the campus director to return my call but, of course, he never called. I emailed them with no response. My son did eventually get into another CDL school but it took some time and he had to pay for another drug test and background check. This was money he did not have. I would never recommend Vatterot college for anything. This was so unprofessional. If you can't start your class on time, then you just shouldn't offer that class at all. I would never recommend this school to anyone!!!!!! Suzanne
