Just saw the response from the business owner-more reason to not use Straton hall. First of all, I was never contacted by Straton Hall. No one ever called me. I had to keep following up. The one time I spoke with someone that mentioned a $500 fee, I did ask what that fee included. She told me a man named Jay would call me back. He never did. I eventually just gave up. How is that "excelling in destination weddings..." as the owner stated below. A simple "we are sorry about not calling back" would have been fine, even understandable. But don't lie on Yelp to cover your bee-hind saying you called me on several different occasions. Sad, really. read more

So many complements about the food Straton Hall provided for our wedding, especially the crab cakes! They were so yummy and that's after having Barbara Jean crab cakes the night before! Straton Hall is a full services catering company and provided food, rentals, servers, and flowers for our wedding at the SSI Lighthouse. They are professionals and know what they are doing. I was planning the wedding from across the country so i had no time for food tasting, I had to make a decision based on friends' recommendations. So happy I went with Straton Hall. They can come up with a menu for any budget! I had one face to face meeting with Stacy about 2 months out which made me really comfortable leaving everything up to them! I really do not have enough words to thank Stacy, Jay, and the team at Straton Hall for making all of my dreams come true. From the first time we met at the loft to saying "goodbye" after our wedding, they truly felt like a family to us. Stacy took my vision and went beyond what I could have ever imagined- when I look at my pictures I truly cannot believe that was MY wedding. It was SO BEAUTFUL. All of our guests continue to tell us it was the most beautiful and wonderful wedding they have ever been to and I owe so much of that to Stacy. The food was phenomenal. The design, the rentals, the cake, and oh my LORD the flowers were unbelievable. The staff that day went above and beyond to take care of our guests, it was seamless in the middle of a thunderstorm and nobody would have known. I just photographed a wedding that Straton Hall Catered on Jekyll Island and all I can say is that I had the best shrimp, fried oysters and crab cakes I have ever eaten. I have had some incredible crab cakes in Baltimore Maryland but these blew them away! If you are having an event in the barrier Island area on the coast of Georgia and need it catered, definitely call Straton Hall. read more

I was at a wedding in St. Simons Island over the weekend where Straton Hall Catering did all the food - and it was wonderful! Not only was every dish positively delicious (the stuffed mushrooms are to die for), but was also very nicely presented (simple, yet elegant). I used Straton Hall Events for my wedding caterer. We had an outdoor brunch & the results were even better than expected. Stacy is very warm & had incredible feedback & advice on how to curate an event. He flexibly worked through many changes & edits due to the pandemic with kindness & grace. The food was exceptional for the brunch & he created my bloody mary for me. His staff was wonderful especially Betty on his serving staff. Everyone found the staff to be helpful & easy going. I strongly recommend this catering service if you want to curate your own experiences & come up with your own visions because they can make it happen. I truly enjoyed my experience with them. First of all, I would like to start by saying that we had a destination wedding schedule for Sept. 9, 2017 on St. Simons Island. Straton Hall was recommended to us by some affiliates of the Light House Group on St Simons Island and we thought everything should go according to plan. We would only have issues if there were an act of God and there was one for the weekend we had scheduled everyone down to the Island as a hurricane was headed to impact all plans on the island. The Venue to support our rehearsal dinner had to close and we drove down to Stratton Hall and picked up all food that we had purchased for the event and had to relocate back to Atlanta. We were told by Straton Hall that they would work with us for some re-imbursement on items that were not used in the catering process such as rental equipment and employees that were going to help with our event. We had absolutely no issues with the food and going to pick it up, but when it came to paying for items that were used, we felt as though they would do the right thing and help us with some re-imbursement. We have tried contacting Straton Hall and they indicated that they would be getting back with us. After 3 more attempts, we have yet to hear from anyone. We are very disappointed with this and will do everything in our power to let anyone needing catering services on St Simons Island, to stay away from this catering service. Sincerely, WRL read more

My fiance's employer had a Christmas function here very recently and we were totally unimpressed. Our orders were taken in advance and everything was supposed to be taken care of by the time we arrived. Instead of a stress free Christmas party, we left vowing we would never return again. Orders were completely screwed up, and because the kitchen manager had already prepped the wrong side items and starters we had to just deal with it. That alone is terrible customer service. When I dine at an elegant upscale restaurant, I expect 5 star service and food! There was nothing offered to fix the issues that had occurred, just an I'm sorry you will just have to deal. We had every intention of using Straton Hall as our caterer for our 250+ person wedding next year and this was going to be our first "tasting". Luckily, we found out way before hand that this place food and service wise isn't all it is chalked up to be. If I could give a less than one star I would. read more

did NOT do what they said they were going to do for my wedding. They were very difficult to work with and did not communicate well at all. I emailed them numerous times without responses until AFTER supposed decision and money deadlines. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. We paid big money for a Shrimp and Grits STATION and a DESERT TABLE with my wedding cake and grooms pie and got a big bowl of grits with some seasoning and shrimp in it to where my guests had to serve themselves out of. They served the grooms pie on clear plates that we didn't need. (they knew I wanted to use the mismatched china that my family and I had either rented for the event or collected ourselves) They brought out cut slices and set them on random food tables When we cut our wedding cake. We didn't get to eat one bite of our food bc Stacy and team were taking away the food right after we had our first dances. I also asked for a drink station with glass canisters with spouts people can turn of infused water/punch/ and tea and showed them multiple times pictures of what I wanted and got pitchers of water/tea with lemons cut up in them and one punch bowl. Jay and Stacy were both told likes and dislikes throughout the process and asked specific questions throughout that were promised and didn't happen. One example is the fact that I showed in person and thru email numerous times the photo of what I wanted my flowers to be and it literally took months for stacy to get it right. the first flower proposal had two types and colors of flowers. NOT AT ALL what the picture showed or what we talked about. Another example...they were told that I only liked one type of eucalyptus greenery and a few days before the wedding I received and email saying to call stacy. (This was the wednesday or Thursday before my saturday wedding and we had already paid them for the flower types and prices quoted for food and flower arrangements. Everything was supposed to be done.) I didn't get the email bc I was super busy with last minute details and my wedding party was in town so we were enjoying festivities and I was done checking for emails from them bc everything was paid for and taken care of supposedly. There were 2 emails. one was to call and the other was explaining to me that they couldn't get the type of eucalyptus that I liked and that they said they could get and use and that I paid for in some of the garlands. It's very unprofessional for a company owner to promise a result and have their client pay for that result and not deliver it. So we paid for one type of garland and got a completely different type with the exact type of eucalyptus I specifically asked them not to use. I called them the next day after emailing stacy late the night before right after I had gotten the emails. By the way, they knew my mother's phone number and could've called her and spoken with her about the garlands if they couldn't get a response back from me instead of just making a decision without speaking to anyone. Unprofessional. Still don't know the cost of anything. Never got any actual prices for them or anything else when we asked them for an itemized spreadsheet of both the food items and the flowers/arrangements NUMEROUS times. At one point my Aunt was possibly going to pay for my wedding cake and I asked them in an email (that I still have) how much it was for just that and told them she wanted to pay for it and NEVER got a response. We never got anything itemized out so it's impossible to cut or narrow down any expenses if you are on a budget. Their "proposals" and flower spreadsheets are completely unclear and all over the place. I honestly think they just randomely write in whatever price they want too with the flowers and charge ridiculous amounts for "corsages" and other things. They did a terrible job on purpose. There was also a conversation about using my grandmother pound cake recipe for my wedding cake in the very beginning talk/meeting with Jay in which I asked if we could use it bc it would mean a lot too me and was told YES. When it was brought back up he acted like he had never said they were doing that and that we had never talked about it. As far as decor goes in a first meeting at the venue sight I asked about having multiple chandeliers to hang in different spots around wedding/reception site. Was told yes yes yes. And were originally being charged $335 per chandelier (3 of them) when quoted $125per one in person; supposed to be placed in different areas; all above the cake table. (not what we talked about or what I asked for) So...thankfully I caught the extremely high rental charges for the chandeliers before we paid for anything. We were also told one venue fee and then another at different time in the very beginning. We should've seen that as a huge RED FLAG and ran. Those are just a few things we had to deal with.
