Besides the lack of bathrooms, this beach is pretty supreme. I ran around for hours playing frisbee, a luxury at the jersey shore (as many of y'all are probably well-aware). This beach is decidedly sleepier than Ocean City, Sea Isle, and many non-LBI beaches, and most of its charm is from its inherent "coziness." The lifeguards were very kind and vigilant, making sure that the no-swimming zones were properly demarcated and that we could enjoy the offings of the beach. Free street parking and some mini golf and ice cream nearby. What more can I say? :) read more

Im literally laying on my towel writing this! We got here 11:00 am and saw plenty of adorable land crabs popping in and out of the many holes all over the beach. Sooo cute. I never saw anything like this before! Super cool! The beach is free and spacious - free street parking too. There are plenty of WHOLE shells as well. Is this a dream?! The only downside is that there are - uh, no bathrooms! Tinkle first and bring a cooler of food and beverages! No boardwalk or shops around. Just some restaurants. We're hitting TWISTIES soon. I first found out about Strathmere when a friend rented a huge house here for a few weeks during off peak season. It was right on the beach, and though we only spent a night here, we were intrigued by the wide open beaches that we could see from her incredible deck. Fast forward another year, and we were staying in nearby Ocean City. The weather wasn't great, so we decided to go for a wander and came back to check out the area, especially since we heard no beach tags would be necessary. It was a windswept, cloudy day, and I could see how lovely it might be on a sunny day. My guess is you will need to come quite early to snag limited street parking, but it would be worth it! read more

Enjoyed a day at the beach yesterday. It was a week day so shore traffic was low and there was ample street parking. The beach was not busy and we were able to find a good spot to set up. The water was refreshing and the beach was clean. This is a great spot to relax, enjoy the weather and is family friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from March- September. Parking and the beach are free. There are trash and recycle bins on the street by the entrances. There's no boardwalk or any places in walking distance but in the town there's an old Wawa, a few restaurants and stores. EMS drives up and down the shore and there's an ice cream guy that walks around. One con is that there is no bathrooms except a few port a potty's on the street (they are typically clean). This is our family's go to beach spot where we can pack lunch and enjoy the quiet. read more

Quiet, clean and for the most part private. We've been coming here for years and being only 40 minutes away quite often, Everytime we've been here it's not crowded and you have space to relax and not worry about neighbors. The beach is clean and there's plenty of parking depending on how far down the road you go. If you hate crowded beaches and listening to the other beach goers kids this is the place for you. read more

What a sweet escape! I grew up in the downbeach area of south Jersey, and so I have very fond memories of spending many a summer day at the beach. I wanted a place to hang out that would allow me to relax and take in the beauty of being here, and this beach fits the bill perfectly. I'm not the type drawn to huge crowds and tons of children, so I am pleased as punch that this is a quiet gem away from all of that. Save the Wildwoods and OC for those looking for something else. I'm so torn between writing a review or not because I don't want our little secret to get out, but Strathmere beach really is deserving of any and all praise it gets. It's by far our favorite beach in NJ!! It's truly the best! Strathmere Beach, with a section called 'Whale Beach' which was given that name for the whales that would periodically beach themselves there, is technically located in the Upper Township section of Cape May County. It's located closest to Sea Isle City , but away from the loud, young crowd and just on the other side of Corson's Inlet, a popular fishing, kayaking, boating and hiking site. (You can hit up both in a day if you wish.) Strathmere, NJ is very tiny stretch spanning just a couple of miles long with a population of under 200! It's a hidden, untouched gem of the Jersey Shore!! One you must see if you're used to the other beaches at the Jersey Shore. I think you will be pleasantly surprised! A VERY welcomed change from the usual shore beaches in the area. It's always fairly empty every time we come. You can have the entire place to yourself!!! It's incredible! Like your own private beach! It's free! It's insanely clean! Street parking on the residential streets is free and just a short walk until your toes are in the sand. You park once and walk to dinner, drinks, live music and sunset watching just across the street at Deauville Inn like we always do, making for a really nice long, relaxing day at the shore! It's honestly perfect **The only negative would be the high cost of housing here perhaps because it is so secluded. There's no hotels or anything of sorts which actually keeps certain crowds away so for that it's nice but for visitors, a tad of a challenge. Home rentals and Airbnb rates here are the highest I've ever seen at the Jersey shore, but really, that's how good it is! read more

Very pretty beach! The surrounding homes are really, really pretty. Well kept and plenty of American flags adorning the homes. Bathrooms and plenty of parking - metered. The beach and water is very clean - no litter. Great fun! read more

This beach has really got it going on. One of the main things that really stood out for me about this beach was that it had a lot of sand by the shore. The other thing that made it so special was that there was a big, beautiful body of water there to partake in where you can splash around with your friends. It's not everyday that you find a beach that has these two elements together at the same time. Not to mention there were waves as an added bonus. I will give this beach 4 stars. read more

Strathmere has one of the prettiest beaches on the east coast. Situated on an island tip where the Atlantic Ocean meets Corson's Inlet, it doesn't get much better than this. Even the bay beaches near the legendary Deauville are fine. And the village itself is charming with great eateries and pubs! read more

This beach was everything that I was looking forward to. Firstly, parking is free and it's a short walk to the beach. Secondly, the beach is far cry from being crowded it's a very calm atmosphere Thirdly, It's very clean. U don't have to pay a dime to get on as well. I definitely will make this beach one of my favorite jersey beaches! I guess I'll rate it 4 stars because there are no restrooms which is a bummer for families. read more

This beach is ideal because its not crowded and the parking is free and usually easy to come by. I even saw dolphins swimming in the water. However the flies were NON-STOP attacking me and my friend the entire time I was there. Made the experience much less fun but other than that everything was perfect read more

Went here with my family after reading the reviews and because the day before a thunderstorm kicked us out of the Ocean City beach after being there 10 minutes trying to find a spot to settle, plus it was packed and it was only a Tuesday. The reviews convinced me to try out Strathmere beach. The reviews stated it's a free beach, clean water, a hidden gem and not so packed with beach goers. They were right!!! Very clean, clean water and a small crowd. I enjoyed it there!! The only thing is they don't have changing rooms unless there is and they are farther away, that's why I took a star away. The kids didn't have a place to change til we got to the car. Just port-a-potties that are a bit of a walk and not too clean or easy to change in. Also you have to find parking on the street but which is free. We were lucky and found a spot right by the beach entrance on Tecumseh. I would absolutely recommend this beach! read more

My family and I was looking for a different beach to go to this year . We came across to this Diamond in a ruff a beautiful clean Beach . Friendly people a family beach that you don't need a badge . Living in Jersey we get a custom of buying badges. This year we didn't and we are enjoying ourselves at Strathmere Beautiful Beaches. read more
