So as luck would have it there is one three doors down from where I ate... And that's how this all began... I have nothing but good things to say... Immediately greeted by the friendly bar staff... Cozy and welcoming ambience.. Not too big or small... Nice selection of beers... Very informative beer tender... What isn't there to like??? Nothing... This could easily be a five star review and possibly should... But I don't just give those out willy-nilly.. They have to be earned.... I truly believe if I was to return a few more times that extra star would be earned... Until then, stop and get a beer or three here... Cheers..

Loved the cozy environment, they also have a backyard where they have live music bands performing sometimes! They also got some arcade games in the back. All in all a solid place! The only reason that I'm giving a 4 star is that I noticed that the drink was heavily watered down and when I asked for adding less ice on my second drink the bartender said they have to add ice to a certain level!!! I could taste less water and more of the actual drink with less ice on my second drink though!

The owner of this bar knows how to keep things looking clean and in tip top shape. I'm serious about the cleanliness and the ladies bathroom is never out of order or disgusting. This is a rarity for Tuscaloosa and most college towns. I attended school at UA and lived in Athens, GA while working at UGA so I know this for a fact. So far so good and I hope they keep it up! Overall, 1831 is a great place to enjoy yourself after an Alabama game during football season with friends for a variety of reasons. It has good local beer from some of the emerging area Tuscaloosa breweries (Black Warrior, Druid City, etc), plenty of selections from Birmingham's amazing breweries (Avondale, Trim Tab, or Good People), friendly staff and bartenders, routinely has good local rock and funk bands playing, and is a place to meet the fun loving people who pack it on the weekend. 1831 is a must stop for anyone doing bar hopping from out of town in Tuscaloosa and a great new place for locals too!
