The assessment I got the next day was that the transmission had to be rebuilt or replaced. They didn't say directly but skirted around the fact that they didn't want to do the job and they didn't have any referrals of someone who would do the job. They essentially said that I should pull my vehicle from their shop, have it towed back to my house and start looking for a new mechanic. I found one who came to my house, took one quick look and said "There's no transmission fluid in here!" We went and got some tranny fluid, put it in, and the vehicle was operational again. It still needed work on the transmission but at least the most basic and fundamental step was taken to address the problem - put fluid in. I don't know why Concept-1 would not have done that nor how they could have made a proper assessment of the transmission problem without fluid in it! I won't be trusting them with my vehicle again.

They wanted $3,200 to fix it, including labor. I took it to a different place to get repairs done at half the cost of what North Hill wanted. Once car had repairs done I took it back to North Hill for re-inspection Jan 2017, Car failed. Took car to a different shop the next day and car passed. Thinking because I'm a women and from out of province I would just pay whatever to get car fixed. I DON'T recommend North Hill Auto Service to anyone. They did phone me about the trouble I had with my car a few days later. I said "the ABS code you found and it failed for was a stored code, not active, so why did you ask me to fix it?" They reimbursed me the cost of second inspection because of their error of a STORED ABS CODE.

Hello, South Auto!!!!…read more This little auto shop is one of my best kept secrets - but I figured it's time yelp knows about it. This is a small, family owned auto shop that came recommended to me from a friend of a friend of a friend. The main guy Richard really knows his stuff about cars, and maybe more importantly in the auto business, is very genuine, honest, and focused. No upselling, no phantom problems, no crazy quotes. His prices are beyond reasonable, and he is extremely transparent throughout the whole process. They have convenient appointments and will really work with you to help you fix your problems. One of my cornering lights burned out once, and had I gone to the Mercedes dealership to fix it, it it would have cost me at least a hundred bucks or more. At South Auto, they special ordered the exact bulb, and he installed it for me on the spot. It was a quick thing, he said, so he charged me $15. $8 for the bulb, and $7 for labor. THAT IS UNHEARD OF. I was on the fence about doing my annual service at South Auto because I wondered if that's something that is worth doing at the dealership, but Richard was able to do it for 1/3 of the price, while still using the specified engine oil imported from Germany, etc. I'm sold! It's a small shop, so don't expect anything fancy. No plush leather chairs in the waiting room, no quartz counters with a friendly receptionist, no complimentary snacks, but man are the prices reasonable and the work top quality. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage so while there may be the slightest communication challenge, I've found all of them to be fluent in english especially when it came to cars.
