This will be long but I want anyone considering who to choose to do a painting job, to just read…read morethe experience I had. We were doing a complete interior paint job in every room and we were having the popcorn ceiling removed. This was the worst experience I have ever had working with a painting business. If you like being talked down to, not being listened to, or being blamed for their mistakes then this company may just work for you. The problem started with being told that they would assist with picking out colors for the project. That didn't occur until one week before the project was to begin even though we had signed the contract approximately 5 months prior. When Shelby did bring paint over, she brought a couple of dented paint cans that she said was sitting in their office. They had not even been shook up as she started shaking the cans uncontrollably. I thought at one time she was going to drop the cans. She then went into the living room, slapped some paint on the wall and would you believe it, she got paint on our furniture. As I stated, she just slapped paint on a wall without taken into consideration about our furniture or carpet. When we spoke with Shelby and Cameron in their office before signing the contract, we were promised zipper doors for the rooms that were not being worked on. Not one zipper door was used through the whole project. We were told that they would move the furniture, but that didn't occur as my wife and I had to move the furniture. As I said before, we were having the ceiling done and we could only do one to two rooms at a time as we had to move furniture. The master bedroom and master bathroom was done first which took a week to complete. There was only 2 painters assigned to the job and were told that we had the A team for interior painting. However, come to find out there was only one interior painting team. When the next 2 rooms were started the following week we noticed that the texture on the ceiling was completely different. We had to speak with Cody, one of the owners, and Shelby. They blamed us that it was too hot in the house that the ceiling texture was different. Mind you, we told the 2 painters that they could have access to do anything needed to complete the job. At no time did they turn the heat off. They just wanted to blame us. During the whole conversation Cody and Shelby were talking down to us , not accepting blame for the painting that was going on.This was just the first experience that we encountered during the project. Our contract stated the dings would be taken care of and we were also told that any "nail pops" would be taken care of. Come to find out , that was not the case as we were told by Shelby and Cody that they could not take care of every little ding in the wall. Shelby even stated to my wife "that she just needed to let things go". Being as we were getting every room painted, we had to QC (quality check) before we would move the furniture back into the room. Shelby stated that the QC would be done at the end of the job. But how can that be done, when all of the furniture is back in the room. The issues we found were with flat spots on the ceiling with no texture, ceiling paint spots in the wall, or area on the walls that needed to be touched up which included paint runs. This went on on for about 8 weeks as this is how long the project went on. The ceiling in the garage was done also and when the plastic that was put on the walls were pulled off, the paint from the walls was pulled off. Cody and Shelby blamed us for the the paint coming off the wall. Shelby specifically stated that they use only Frog Tape which in fact the painters were using Scotch painters tape. Painters tape was not used completely around some of our wood work as there was paint on the door trims and some of the baseboards. When Shelby was peeling tape off a wall that needed to be touched up, she peeled the paint off down to the original paint. This is just the tip of the iceberg as they have no integrity, they blame the customer, and take no responsibility for their shoddy work.

They fired the guy working on my project halfway through because of how many issues we had. They finally finished the deck portion in the Spring of 2022, but the workmanship was horrendous. Lots of uneven cuts on the boards, screws that are too long just sticking out causing a hazard, pencil marks all over the place, and a 10x10 concrete pad that completely cracked from top to bottom and from one side to the other within a month. I'm not happy at all with the quality of work. The owner, Ron, said that it's cosmetic and isn't a concern. My belief is that for what I paid, they should care a little but about things that are cosmetic. There were more issues but they did clean those up so I won't go into detail on them. Additionally, I have been trying to get the patio portion completed and it has been like pulling teeth trying to get anything done with Heritage. I finally got to a point where they are ready to put my patio on their work calendar and it looks like I can't get scheduled until Fall of 2022 (which I would be absolutely shocked if it didn't get pushed back into the winter or early 2023 because of my experience with Heritage). I tried to be patient but part of this project was a retaining wall so at this point I get a mudslide every time it rains. I'm stuck with a half finished project at this point and will be looking for someone else to finish it.

Our house got water in the basement after a big rain in 2016 and we sought help from recommended…read moreprofessionals. We tried a variety of things with plumbers and contractors, updating our gutters, re-sloping our yard, and digging up the yard so our pipes could be scoped and downspouts cleaned. This year we continued to have issues with water every time it rained hard, which caused a lot of stress and sleepless nights. I asked a colleague at work for ideas, and she recommended Heritage Builders. Melissa and owner Ron were easy to reach and set up a time to meet me at my house to show the concerns. We have dealt with a lot of different contractors and companies, and this was the first time communication was something I could count on (as in, I would get a response and in a timely manner)! When some water came into the basement on a random Tuesday afternoon, the owner was at my house in 30 minutes to see where it was coming in from. Soon, we had two proposals for different potential areas of water entry, and Ron reviewed them with us in person each time. He also explained everything in ways I could understand, since I am not handy and do not know much about walls, pipes, etc. We decided to fix one area of our house. It was easy to schedule the work and was not too long of a wait to have the team get started. I was introduced to each person who would be working on our house, and they sent us a text at the end of each day reviewing what was done and what was left. Everything was completed within a week's time and was done very professionally. I can only hope this solves our issues for good, but I feel very confident that it will (no rain has infiltrated thus far)! Also, Ron and his company stands by the work and if something happens, I know he will come back to take a look. The process working with Heritage Builders has been great from our first contact to finishing the work.

She is incredibly slow and does not take instruction or hints about your preferences. She spent 4.5 hours cleaning the fridge despite repeated requests to move on to another room.  It took her 6 hours to clean 2 rooms (the kitchen, and the already mostly cleaned living room).  Honestly the kitchen was not poor condition, but she repeated ignored my texted and verbal requests to just do the best she could with the 6 hours I allotted for cleaning the entire 950sq foot, 2 bedroom cottage.   She was very unprofessional, did not wear a mask (which is required in Riley county now), and lectured/berated me about wearing a mask. She strangely bragged about having an N95, but it was not clear whether she understood that merely owning one was not protective.  Hint: you have to wear it -- and she was not wearing a mask or maintaining a safe distance. The fridge and kitchen look nice, but it's not worth the COVID-19 exposure or the 6 hours.  Also she became weird and verbally aggressive when I told her that I had to go home and I needed her to leave since she was past the deadline I set.  She insisted she was a 'deep cleaner' and thus could not be hurried.  It was very strange, considering she charges by the hour.

The poor workmanship also caused a burst indoor pipe. Taussig Landscape's insurance company acknowledged responsibility for the pipe damage and settled our claim. Initially, Taussig Landscape acknowledged the patio problems and made several patchwork attempts at repair. However, the problems were never resolved, and the company eventually stopped responding to our requests for a proper resolution. We ultimately had to file a small claims case. After hearing the evidence, the court found Taussig Landscape responsible for the patio problems and awarded us the maximum amount allowed by the court--an amount significantly less than the cost of repairing the patio. We would have preferred to resolve these issues directly with the company rather than through litigation. Based on our experience with the workmanship, the resulting damage, and the company's response to these problems, we strongly advise against hiring Taussig Landscape.
