I don't know why, though, since that seems to be the perfect spot for a convenience store. And what a convenience store it is. First of all, Heritage Market is a classic convenience store with an old-time feel but carrying the usual drinks and chips and good humor ice cream. Nevertheless, if you want to escape the traffic or break up a road trip, this is a good place for a mini-stop. Whether it's a breakfast on the go, or a few minutes extra for lunch, they're set up so you can grab a sandwich, a cup of Larry's beans coffee, and sit at a small table in the corner to watch the traffic outside or the news on the overhead TVs. This store was super busy. I was inside for only a few minutes, but nearly everyone who stopped in was greeted by name by the employee. It's obviously a popular stop with the locals. As I reached into one cooler to grab some water, the cooler next to me had some large blocks of various cheeses from Ashe County Dairy, and, the cheese was conveniently located right next to some six packs of beer. Party fixings all in one convenient place - who knew? I guess there's more than one reason why these are called convenience stores. I like Heritage. It's an old-time store but with all the modern things that make a convenience store convenient.

For lunch, the bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and mayo is amazing, but the regular cheese burger is just as great. Recently, they have started offering BBQ plates. Let me tell you, the Brunswick stew is ON POINT, and the BBQ is delicious. The hush puppies are great, as is the slaw. More importantly, the service is always both a delight, and stellar. From the owner behind the register, who always remembers our order, the fist bump, and the great attitude, to all those wonderful ladies preparing the food (and I mean wonderful, jovial, and go beyond the extra mile), this place is a hidden gem. Angie has become like one of our besties, and frankly, they are all great, but her attitude and fun loving self makes every trip there enjoyable! When it comes to ambiance, what you see is what you get. It is a service station grill, but it is always clean, tidy, and welcoming to customers. There is a lot of foot traffic, and always a busy pace in there. Based on the number of folks they are always serving in there, you can tell that others feel exactly as I do about the breakfast and lunch, and more importantly, the service. I do not think any of them in there meet a stranger. You must check this place out! It will certainly exceed your expectations - and did I mention... THOSE BISCUITS! OMG - now back to eating mine! My first go to is a chili and slaw dog and the price here is right. I got two for just over $3.00 and that's a deal in my book. I could have gotten it as a combo with fries and a drink, but just the dogs was fine by me. Their hot dogs are the red kind, the chili had a little bit of a bite so glad it wasn't smothered all over it, and the cole slaw was crunchy. All and all it was pretty good. The menu is varied from choices of breakfast items served from 6A-10:30A to lunch sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, and sides like fries and such. Everything is made to order. The food comes up quick and the staff is ever ready to serve the customer. They've got a few booths inside along the window that were nice and clean. What more could you ask for?

I think this is the first time I can recall finding a gas station/convenience store that can cut new keys and supply you with bins of hardware store nails for picking and choosing the right size and weights. So, stop by to fill up the car, grab a beverage, buy a scratch-off lottery ticket, and maybe use the winnings to get a bite at the grill, pick up a case of beer, some snacks, a few nails, some glue, get a new key made, and make catering arrangements for your next party all from the same building. It's puts a new spin on the words "convenience store." In addition, if that's not enough, the ladies behind the counter are a knowledgeable chatty bunch who'll have you smiling.

They have fresh sausages and all sorts of meats. they even have fresh kapusta. I also like their bread it is so delicious, they have fresh bread everyday! This is my favorite store to go to shop for European product especially since its so clean and organized. The owner is also nice and helpful.
