On this occasion, I had a mozzarella and rocket starter. Would have been better if the plate wasn't covered rocket and had more mozzarella/tomato. For main I had a 'special' pizza, which has salami and prosciutto ham. there was a decent amount of ham but the salami was thin on the ground. When I came to the desserts, I avoided the dessert platter so share like the plague! after our last visit and ordering the afore mentioned dessert, you can't help but feel ripped off! there is barely more on the sharing platter then there was on the dessert plate of someone who had ordered a single portion. The restaurant is nice and clean and has quite a fresh look. The staff are nice but there is one person there, who I'm assuming is a manger of some description as they're in normal clothing, who is over the top with the niceties! to the point that its irritating! generally though, the staff are good and helpful. We have a tastecard so we got bogof on all courses which made the price reasonable. without the tastecard, I personally wouldn't want to go as I feel its over priced. our reservation was for a group of 5 and our waitress had no problem in accepting 2 tastecards for our party and splitting the bill into two. some places can be a bit funny about this. Himself & I came into St. Stephens for a reason. We park, see that food shops and the movie theater…read morevalidate parking. We chose to eat here. Himself orders while I hold down a table. He comes right back and tells me they're out of rice. How are you an Asian restaurant and not have rice? Already my opinion of this place is going down. And then, as Himself is paying, that's when the guy decides to tell him that hey don't validate parking. Seriously? So how's the food? Well, they do have unlimited Diet Coke- but no ice What they do is get your noodle of choice, meat/veggies of choice and mix it into a wok w/ your sauce of choice. Then they put it into a box. The actual noodles aren't bad, the beef isn't good so don't order it. The pole is an uninspired Chinese style BBQ pork and the chicken is just chicken. I got a regular make your own box w/ 3 items as did Himself & with two drinks the total came to £19.90. However, it's a goodly amount of food and I'll have leftovers. I'm giving it two stars because they ran out of food and don't validate parking.

Wok & Go is a new restaurant that has opened in St Stephen's shopping centre. The atmosphere is loud, crowded, frenzied, has horrible seating (be prepared to share a table and make new friends) but it does have amazing and very flavourful food. Not just good, but amazing. The portions are enormous, the service is nearly nonexistent but efficient, and the menu is long and varied. All meals are prepared with a standard mix of raw ingredients based on noodles or rice, and packed into those little boxy take-away containers ready to be thrown into the frying pan. You can request extra ingredients plus a selection of sauces before it is cooked. Your meal is cooked in what look like authentic Chinese woks at the front of the restaurant, exactly as they do in cheap restaurants in China and you can watch if you like. There is a bit of a wait, as it is cooked fresh to order, but the taste clearly makes up for it. It tastes fresh and they don't add MSG. Chop-sticks are available as well as plastic cutlery. On the menu are various items, my favourite is the Teriyaki Lime Beef Salad Box. It is a warm beef salad with a Japanese soba noodle teriyaki sauce and a twist of lime. AND it's 98% fat-free for those of you that care about your health. This is also available with chicken or as a vegetarian option. I am a bit disappointed that they don't do more variety or vegetarian options in their menu as I would really like to try out a more varied selection of dishes. I do like that they do a special kids dish. One of the best things about the restaurant is that they stay open until 11PM and they offer a delivery service.

You'll find this kebab van just across the street from Christ Church. We popped on over around…read more10ish at night for we wanted something quick and good. There were a couple of guys standing there before us, so we waited. I put my order in for some chicken kebabs and salad loaded with lots of everything and anything. The guys were nice too. Oh and a funny side note, as I was getting out a couple quid for our late night snack, a guy who was standing a few feet away asked "Is that a fast pass?" I looked up and said "Sorry??" Turns out the guy just moved to Oxford from San Francisco 2 months earlier! Whaaaaa? He saw my Muni Fast Pass in my wallet which cracked me up! And even more funny is that he lived maybe 10 blocks from me in my neighborhood ... oh man seriously? Do I have to go to another country to find a random person who used to live in the Sunset???? I can't find anyone in San Francisco who lives in the Sunset. Crazy. We chit chatted a bit ... super nice guy. Awesome and totally random to meet a local San Franciscan at a kebab van at 10pm in Oxford! Back to the food ... we arrived home and I dug it. One bite and I was in heaven. I said "This is soooooooooo good" as I had sauce running down my face. Everything was perfect. They were super generous with their portions and this little lady ate it all. If there's anything I miss about England apart from the breakfast are the kebabs at 10pm. Yes, there is good food in England ... it does exist!! Great spot for those late nights staggering home from the pub pissed as hell and you have just a couple quid left in your pocket.

DON'T: get the normal kebabby stuff. DO: get the Gosht curry. The Kofta kebab. The shish. Anything they have to cook. they do this garlic yogurt mint sauce that will blow your salad cream back to the factory it came from. They'll put up with you no matter how drunk you are. Or how sober. NOTE: this is the van just outside of the church OFF of St Aldate's on Pembroke Square. Do NOT go to the dodgy van just outside of CC as you'll... well, things that should be solid, won't. For a while.

I visited this place on Saturday and ordered a Greek salad and portion of Calamari. Initially, I…read morewas really impressed with the food, although the salad was quite oily, the calamari was really fresh and well prepared. Or so I thought. As I was finishing my calamari, I found a long fair hair in my last piece of squid. I showed it to the young man serving us, who was almost blank in response and didn't seem to be aware that he ought to do something beyond apologise. I asked him to see what his manager felt should be done to make amends and another member of staff was sent to deal with me. Initially, she offered me a drink and a dessert, but I felt really sick by this point so the idea of eating more there was nauseating. I was then offered half my money back apparently, 'because I had finished my meal' they would only offer me half my money back. The fact that the entire meal was ruined and felt very ill was lost on her. The intimation appeared to be that I was trying it on, although clearly this hair did not belong to anyone sat at my table, so I think they believe I found a hair, had my fill of food and then decided to complain! What a lovely opinion of me these people had! The member of staff serving us denied that hair in the food suggested poor kitchen hygiene, but if the staff took appropriate measures it would not have been in my lunch and I would not have spent the next three hours feeling sick (this was, in part, due to the oil on the salad too). In the end, despite my protests, £6.50 was thrust at me and that was what. I hadn't realised when I had been offered half it was only half the price of a started and not the full amount I had spent there. I only spent £15 and it was a very busy service, so they more than made enough to cover this. Instead, they have tried to prove a point and put me off ever returning. I tried to raise the issue on their Facebook page, but after trying to accuse me of lying again (of trying to claim the money for all three meals, which I did not do) they deleted my post. Yet, they claim they have great customer service and good hygiene standards. Had the staff handled my complaint better, I would not be going out of my way to criticise this establishment, but it was very poor and they have antagonised me so much I feel I need to warn others.
