There's a Stop & Shop in my town that I dig.  (But if we're being honest... I dig this one a lot more.)  You walk in and there's a cool little Starbucks substation (it doesn't even matter that I'm not even a Starbucks person... this looks really cool and smells even better) and when you grab a cart?  Yeah, a little metal cup holder do-hickey right there for said Starbucks.  (The Stop & Shop in my town is living in the stone ages for both of these 'perks'.) Here in Clifton every department is bigger, better, cleaner and brighter (and most importantly... fresher!) than the one in my ZIP code. (Most noticeable - the seafood department is making the honor roll with an "A" grade but the Stop & Shop in my hometown is maybe - maybe! - a C+.  When this shopping center is firing on all cylinders it's madness all around (good luck driving, parking, the speed bumps and all the people with zero qualms to step in front of moving traffic!) but if you can swing in here early enough... it's not bad at all. read more

Stopped by the Clifton Stop & Shop recently, and while the store has a decent selection, the overall experience was a bit frustrating. I was trying to get information on the "with card" pricing, and it was surprisingly difficult to find clear answers. Asked a couple of staff members for help, but no one seemed too interested in assisting. Also, the self-checkout area felt more like a chore than a convenience slow and not very intuitive. Somewhat terrible, but definitely not the smoothest shopping trip either. read more

2/27/2023 Update: Management needs to update their inventory on their app. This is an ongoing issue at the Kingsland Rd. location for months. For example, I'll look for a specific brand of milk. The app.will have the product in stock. When I get to the store, no items are in stock. The staff will check and not be able to locate the product. I'd like to compliment the S&S staff. They always try to assist when asked. The self check out is pretty well organized. There's always someone available to assist when the machine acts up. A Starbucks is located in Stop & Shop. A large parking is available. In my opinion, the Stop & Shop Broad St. location is better stocked than this location. read more

I know of 3 Shop & Stops in my area and they are basically the same standard store layout and departments with slight variations between departments like one, may have a larger produce department compared to another one. They all have PNC Banks inside, with a major difference in this which is that in this one you have a mini Starbucks and a Target and AMC nearby. Weekly Flyer specials carry across all stores and they all have plenty of parking. read more

I definitely prefer this stop and shop to certain others around the area. It's always clean and well lit, nicely organized too. The employees are friendly enough. No matter how busy this place is I feel like you can always find a parking close by. The fresh produce is always stocked, it's definitely hit or miss on the price. Salad bar is always fresh and looks appealing. The shop and scan option is nice for when you're in a rush. Overall self checkout is easy enough too. I definitely don't shop here for all my groceries but they have certain things that are always well priced. Worth the stop if you're in the area and in need of a few things. read more

I was always a supporter of Stop & Shop over its competitors until tonight. The store is going through a redesign and everything is out of place causing confusion right off the bat. Items are on make shift shelving units that look like they're straight out of a corner bodega, with no organization at all. Took forever to find anything. And the cherry on top was getting accosted by a couple of "church-enthusiast solicitors" in two separate aisles! How do you allow such nonsense to occur? I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. Located in the Clifton Commons, this location is right of Route 3 East and has a lot of parking available. Large location with all the departments you can ask for and a PNC Bank located inside, as well as a Starbuck's Kiosk when you walk in on the Pharmacy side of the store (Entrance to the left when facing store). This store has 2 entrances and very clean and filled. Their meat prices tend to be a bit high, but their sales are actually very good. So I would go here for the sale items. Store hours are 6am to midnight, so very convenient. They also have digital coupons that you get by downloading the app. A must to get the best deals and great savings. With its great location and large parking lot, this store couldn't have asked for a better place to be built. Located in the Clifton Commons, this store not only has a Starbucks built right inside, it is also neighbors with the AMC Theater, Staples, Blockbuster, Barnes & Nobles, Applebees, Chevys and Target. The aisles are big enough for to carts to go through simultaneously. There are several self-checkout aisles and a great employee on Sundays that is always on standby to assist you if the scanner goes cranky. They also carry a wide variety of items - from organic to fresh fruit to snacks to kosher to ethnic, you can't go wrong here. A new addition to the store is the self scanner that you can pick up by swiping your Stop & Shop card at the entrance of the store. It keeps track of your total purchase amount, saves you extra money on some items & saves you the time of scanning at the end of the visit. You just scan the item as you put in a bag in your cart and continue on shopping. Once you are done, you go to the self-checkout lane, scan the bar code on top of the screen, swipe your Stop & Shop card, and it pulls up your entire order. You pay & go. I have a Shop Rite closer to me but I would rather make the trip here. Places is always clean and it just seems brighter than most supermarkets. Some people say that the prices are expensive but they have great weekly sales and you can get points to save on gas with your Stop n Shop card. I like to bring my own bags and scan my own items as I do my shopping, this makes check out go a lot quicker, even on weekends when the place is mobbed. They also have deli preorder that's convenient if you don't want to wait. I've used the pick up but didn't like that my coupons are honored the next time I use pick up. A Starbucks is located inside as well as a PNC bank. It's a nice location and the parking lot gets busy with so many stores in the complex But I really enjoy shopping here. read more

This is a friendly Stop & Shop with a nice staff. The prices are usually a little pricier than you expect it to be but when there's sales and you combine it with a Shop & Stop card it's not that bad on your wallet sometimes. read more

This particular Stop and Shop is one of the better ones. It's clean, isles are roomier (2 carts can go down at the same time without maneuvering or slamming into people), their self checkout actually works (you don't have to worry about your card not scanning or running into trouble) and their overall selection (bakery/produce) is extensive. Parking outside is plenty but it is a little tight trying to get out. Their prices are a bit higher than Shoprite but you can get good deals on certain useful items so stock up. read more

This supermarket is a hit or miss for me it reminds me a lot of Albertsons on the west and south on coasts I normally shop at ShopRite since I like their hot food bar I just noticed that there is an increased price on most items and any item that I can find here I can find at ShopRite even though I have to drive closer to get to Stop & Shop It doesn't have a jersey feel to it whatsoever I feel like I'm not even in New Jersey when I go in there I think I've given it to times a chance and I wasn't really impressed with anything If I was desperate obviously I would come here and that would be it but I just feel like it's very very overpriced like I'm paying $.30 more for everything that I buy read more

It's a convenient store and has spacious aisles and seems to be clean except for the bathroom which was in need of a cleaning. The deli department is very good as is the produce. They would get an extra star if they were open 24 hrs. This area could use a grocery store open at all times. read more

This location's Stop and Shop employees (management included) are callous and indifferent regarding customers' well-being and safety. A customer fell due to an unmarked spill on the floor and two witnesses/employees (cashier and bagger) did not assist injured customer off of floor or inquire regarding their condition. After speaking to another employee (said employee never offered her name or position) who informed injured customer that "risk management" will call injured customer in 72hrs; no copy of incident report given to injured customer. NO 72hr follow from Stop and Shop "risk management" as of this time (5 days post incident). Beware of this slovenly, disorganized, and apathetic establishment. Besides being in a really convenient location off the RT 3 this is just a basic Stop & Shop supermarket. I do stop by here from time to time to pickup meats and deli. I like their deli department. Also they have fairly decent sushi if you catch it when its just been put out, otherwise it can get a bit stale. Always check! The rest here is pretty decently arranged, ailses are wide and its not very crowded. There is a liquor store in the same plaza and a Target so that you can make this a one stop shopping. read more

Housed in a shopping complex with Staples, AMC theatres, Party City, Barnes and Nobles, Stop & Shop Supermarket is just any regular supermarket--like an Albertson's or Safeway in California. This place has space--extra wide aisles. They also have self-service checkout lanes. Not too crowded. I only came here to buy a dozen brown organic eggs, a reusable shopping bag, and Turkey Hill Iced Tea and Lemonade--at $1.99 (plus tax) for each quart. Mix the two together in equal proportions, and you've got a really refreshing thirst quencher on a hot day in Passaic/Clifton. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! read more

Love their rotisserie chickens! IMO, Stop & Shop has the best rotisserie chickens available. They taste great and are a good size. My favorite is the Bourbon Chicken. Apart from the chicken, this store is large and clean. They offer a great selection of food, and even carry items that you cannot find in ShopRite. I tend to do most of my grocery shopping in ShopRite since for the most part, their prices are cheaper. But I like that Stop & Shop is a more relaxed shopping experience. They do not get as crazy as ShopRite and I'm thankful for that. It makes it much easier to navigate the aisles with your shopping cart. This location has Starbucks inside the store, so you can get your caffeine fix. The produce department is large and fresh. Oh, and I just tried the Stop & Shop cupcakes this past week, and they were great! I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into one. Let's just say that 6-pack only lasted a few days. Talk about impulse shopping. You put these right inside the entrance and you made me want them. Stop & Shop you continue to surprise me. Keep up the good work! read more

They do not check their expiration dates on ANYTHING! and despite the size of their store, they never seem to keep anything in stock. Staff is rude and management doesn't care. I'd rather pay a dollar more for things somewhere else than deal with their awful attitudes. read more

It definitely more expensive then your other local supermarkets but because of the variety and spacious layout its my favorite. I do most of the grocery shopping and I love meat and this Stop & Shop has a great variety of fresh meats. Beef, chicken, and pork not to mention its always fresh. Now I could use coupons but silly me I don't. By doing so you obviously can come close and at times beat the other local supermarkets in pricing. They also have a Starbucks inside for you coffee drinkers. read more

All and all its a large chain super market. They have a decent selection and prices are ok. It's well lite and the aisles are big easy to move around. That's the good. I'm not a fan of the parking lot. It's not easy to get out of on a busy day. The other issue is they will have 6 lanes open outside the self check-outs. They will only have one bagger on 6 lanes so you have to bag your own groceries. Is it really that hard to hire so teenagers. read more

This supermarket is always well stocked and clean. Vegetables and fruit can be pricey but they are always fresh and I can always get what I need. If you have a Stop&Shop card you'll find some great discounts. I've purchased fruit at Whole Foods that was much more expensive and frankly not as fresh as what I found in this Stop&Shop location. The fresh wild fish has always been really good as has the beef and chicken. Occasionally I have been a bit disgusted with the storage of the beef, chicken, and protein section. A couple of times I have notice chicken in the beef section and the chicken juices were leaking all over the place and seeping into the beef! Not a good situation, salmonella poisoning waiting to happen, yikes! The only other thing is their bathrooms which are in desperate need of more cleaning. Overall though, I've been going to this location frequently over the past 8 years and I've never had any issues with food quality or prices. read more

I was considering moving to clifton and I like to live very close to a supermarket. I currently live close to a supermarket in manhattan. I visited this stop n shop and found it to be a nice store with good selection. But alas the store has seen fit to have a robot shooting around the store appearantly videotaping and/ or monitoring customers. One of the creepiest things I have ever seen. So big brother. Not only would I ever shop at the store again,now I am not even moving to clifton. I went to a shoprite and they didn't have a robot roaming the store. Guess I will stay in manhattan. O don't know how customers would find it OK to have creepy robot scooting through store filming them. read more

This is one of the best markets out there. I shop at 6 different stores every week for our home and this store is a consistent top dog. It is a beautiful place to shop; incredibly well managed; and has incredible savings if you buy on sale. Furthermore, its produce is second to none. Always clean, well lit and nice spacious aisles. Great deli department and we'll staffed with friendly hard working associates. They stock a huge variety of items in all price ranges and while this is not Whole Foods I find it always fills my needs. What sets Stop and Shop apart from the other supermarkets is the self service scanners. Just scan the items you are purchasing, bag it in your cart and a few prompts at the register and you are on your way. The scanner shows a running total, itemizes what you have bought and even shows how much you have saved. You do need a Stop and Shop savings card to use this device. Even if you chose not to use the scanner there are plenty of self service registers that cuts down on the wait. read more

My review is about the home delivery service, which used to be provided by Peapod (and was decent), until they recently began doing their own deliveries. My first order arrived missing half the items, with half of someone else's order instead. I scheduled my next order to arrive between 6:30AM- 1 PM knowing I'd probably be at work when they got there, but they could leave the order on the porch since there was nothing perishable. I got out of the shower at 6:30 AM to a string of texts from the driver beginning at 6:10 telling me he was there (20 minutes early.) When I opened the door there were no groceries - he took them back. The CSR I spoke to said he couldn't come back until that afternoon, but he wouldn't leave the groceries if I wasn't home. The only reason I placed a third order was because I needed the items for Thanksgiving and Shop Rite was completely booked (pretty telling that they're doing a lot more business that Stop & Shop!) This time the driver arrived 40 minutes before the delivery time. It was pure luck that I'd left work early and happened to be home, so I didn't lose another order. It doesn't do any good to email a formal complaint, you get a form letter back saying they've forwarded your comments to the "operations manager" and you'll never hear from them again. Well, they won't be hearing from me again either. read more
